Lum's Cottage--mid-way between everywhere you would want to go!!

Lum's cottage is 10-15 minutes from Silverado, Montreat College, Warren Wilson College, the University of North Carolina-Asheville, Asheville and Black Mountain where you can hike the Blue Ridge mountains, visit the Biltmore House, attend a concert, swim in public pool, play tennis and pickleball at local courts, and frequent one of dozens of breweries.

You are 1 1/2 hrs. from Wolf Ridge, Blowing Rock, and Sugar Mountain where you can snow ski. Black Mountain was voted the prettiest small town in America by TripAdvisor in 2017! It is beautiful and charming and full of Southern hospitality; art galleries galore with music in the air.

Lum's cottage rests on the shoulders of a grassy knoll amidst the WNC forest. While this cottage is cute and comfortable, the deck that overlooks the mountains when the leaves change colors and the trees are adorned with snow and icicles is the highlight. Having a 4-wheel/AWD vehicle is helpful getting around during the winter. You will enjoy staying at Lum's cottage!

There are 2 bedrooms and 1 full bathroom (shower only). Linens are provided as well as cooking supplies. Smart TV and internet are available with electronic charging stations in each room. The first bedroom has a Nectar hybrid full bed and the second bedroom has two twin beds (one to the right is firm).

Laminate and tile floors with decorative rugs throughout cottage. Stacked Washer/Dryer, dishwasher, stove, and full refrigerator. Baby monitor, gate, and Pack 'n Play provided upon request. Unfortunately, pets and smoking in home are not allowed.

Cozy spot in the woods!

We had a great stay visiting friends! The host is so sweet and very hospitable. She left us little Easter painting activities we loved when we first got there haha. Such a good spot, highly recommend!

I grew up in Black Mountain. Back in the day we only had one red light and no breweries:) Now, this little town boasts of small businesses of all kinds and entertainment that rivals many big cities. I left for college and my career that included volunteering and serving others. After being away for thirty-seven years, I came back to help support my aging parents. My grandmother left me several houses, but I was not sure what I would do with them since I worked 50+ hours each week. After Covid, my mind began to pivot from my crazy busy career to a more serene pace. Hence, seasonal rentals! Yes, renovating the homes took a few years, but the work was worth it. I am eager to host (serve) my guests, making their visit to the region extra special.

Lum's cottage is unique because it is easily accessible from I-40. There is only one street that takes you to either Black Mountain or Asheville so you can't get lost:) The home is decorated and supplied with guests in mind. The deck allows you to enjoy the sun while viewing the mountains. While the home is cozy and small, the deck allows you to have a few guests over for dinner or a movie without feeling crowded.

This cottage was my Dad's home before he moved in with my second sister in Atlanta. When we shared with him our vision to have a place for people to come to relax and rejuvenate, write a book, connect with their spouse, pray and fast and meditate, etc., he gave us his blessings to turn it into a seasonal rental.
