Clean, well stocked, great location, great for kids

This was a great house, very very clean, well stocked kitchen, and extremely close to ocean...only about 2-3 min walking with our very young kids (5, 3, and 9m). Easy check in and check out. Walking distance to many restaurants and pier. Lifeguards beach. Close to shopping, and lighthouse, Wright's brothers, and the giant sand dune (forget name). The only downside is no screen on sliding doors so flies got in if you tried to let in a breeze. Would definitely stay again. Kenny was in touch and very helpful.

Adorable Home with Easy Access to Everything!

This was our first year at the Outer Banks, and my family of four had a wonderful stay at Whalebone. It was very clean and had everything you need. The beach is a very short walk. I really liked that we could walk down to the pier in the evening to check out what the fishermen were catching. Also, Pea Island and Roanoke Island are extremely easy to access. The owner was very nice to answer all my questions about what to do. He was also very prompt in giving my security deposit back to me. I highly recommend this property! :)

Summer to remember!

House was great! Pictured exactly as provided. Has all the amenities needed and very close to all attractions, including a few steps away from the beach! Owner very responsive and helpful in providing suggestions. Very family friendly!

Great Beach Cottage !!

This is a great beach cottage,you have ocean on one side,the bay on the other,Beach access right in front of cottage.This cottage is well decorated and everything is new and well maintained,you feel like you are at home.Great location everything you may need is close,food,shopping,and many things to do.The deck on the cottage is great,there is also a roof deck with seating,this is where our 14 and 15 year olds hung out,There are plenty of chairs on the deck for seating,also a built in charcoal grill out back.There is a great out door shower,and sand washing area.We had 3 days of bad rains,but there are lots of board games to play and movies to watch.Sept is a great time to visit here, no crowds,you have the beach to yourself. Ken is a great person to work with,he made sure we got in ok,and all was good.We took ferry boat over to Ocracoke Island,this is a fun trip,lots of shops and places to eat.This was a great week and hope to return again.Many thanks to the Casper for sharing the Beach Cottage with us,it was a wonderful time !

Perfect little house - great location, super clean

My family decided last minute to go to the Outer Banks for spring break - we figured it'd be warm enough to be outside, but still cold enough to avoid crowds. It was perfect! Almost everything was open, but we had no waits at restaurants, etc. So glad we decided to stay here - the location was great, tons within walking distance and a central location to get to all of the amazing National Parks and sites in the area. Right across the bridge from Roanoke Island, lots of amazing restaurants up and down the Outer Banks in Nags Head, Kitty Hawk, and so on. It was our first time to the Outer Banks and we loved it! The house itself was perfect for our family of four - our little boys loved playing out on the deck and the layout is so nice and open. Everything was very updated and clean. We were really impressed for how great it was was for the price! Thanks for such a great stay - this house will definitely be a part of our family memories! :)

Fantastic vacation

Just came back from the best vacation yet. Have stayed in many rental properties for vacation and this was by far the best. The house is very well maintained and comfortable. Spent every morning and night sitting on the front deck and the views from the top deck were great. Will definitely come back again next year. Have found our favorite vacation spot!!! Thank you for the stay.

This how is incredibly clean and very well taken care of, the location is the icing on top! The views from the top deck are breath taking and the shops and places to eat around are amazing aswell. You could walk anywhere you want, especially the beach which is just steps away from the house! This house has everything and more and my family and I loved every moment of our vacation in the outer banks thanks to this house and we will be back!

Wonderful Family Vacation

House was very clean, spacious, and beautiful just as described. Location was excellent. Our Vacation was extremely relaxing and worry free. The owner was very helpful. The neighbors were friendly. I can't say enough about this place. I would like to visit again.

Great Location!

I can't say enough about this house. This was our first trip to the Outer Banks and it was just amazing. The house is in a GREAT location (literally across the street from beach) So many stores nearby (even within walking distance). The house was well equipped--the kitchen had every possible utensil you could think of. I would (and already have) recommend this house to others. The owner is fabulous to work with. He kept in contact and also gave me some ideas of where to eat and activities to do. The neighbors were even helpful! The whole experience was just great.

Excellent

We really enjoyed our stay in this terrific home. Great central location, perfectly maintained and impeccably clean, excellent remodeled kitchen and baths with everything you could need. Perfect getaway for our small family! The owner was very easy to work with and responsive. Highly recommended!

Great location!

We rented this house for a relaxing week in September. It was perfect for two couples( cousins and spouses from two different states). The house has been updated and was extremely clean...much appreciated. The kitchen has everything you need, including plenty of ice from the frig door. The outside spaces have been updated, also, and you have views of both the ocean and sound, from the rooftop deck. We have been going to the Outer Banks for 25 years, and really enjoyed this location. It is a short walk to the new pier, restaurants, and shops. The beach access is a short walk away, across the street. You can tell that the owners really care about their property!

Terrific House in a Great Location!!!!

My wife and I returned to the OBX area after some 25 years to see how much one our favorite vacation sites had changed. My concerns of renting a dwelling online (sight unseen) were immediately dispelled when we entered this home. This cottage is immaculately maintained, with all the most modern appliances a family could need. While the renovations to the home were done last year, one would think they occurred last month. The materials and workmanship are excellent. The home is beautifully furnished and accessorized with every need thought of and provided. We spent a week in this lovely cottage and it provided the perfectly relaxing vacation. It's ideally situated in a serenely quiet neighborhood with great views of both the beach and the sound from the crows nest deck. Within easy walking distance of a public beach access, a convenience store, a souvenir shop and several restaurants. The new and popular Jennette's Pier is an easy stroll by road or beach. Whether you're interested in visiting all the historic sites, the light houses, the modern activities centers, the fine restaurants and shopping outlets the Outer Banks have to offer, or you're just interested in finding a secluded spot to enjoy a glass of wine on the decks and listen to the waves break, this is the ideal accommodation.

Perfect house in perfect location!

My family and I had the best vacation for our first time in OBX and this house was absolutely perfect! It was super clean and tastefully decorated. I had a great time cooking in the kitchen with all new appliances. The beds were very cozy and the kitchen had every utensil you could think of. The pictures do not do it justice! We also enjoyed the nice flat screen TV, blu-ray player which included Netflix movies, as well as WiFi. The kids enjoyed the many board games. The location was just as described - right across the road from the beach access. The location the house is in is perfect! There was plenty to do, but it wasn't in a very crowded area and the beaches were never packed. There's a little supermarket nearby if you forgot an item at the main grocery store and there's also a neat little souvenier shop nearby, both within walking distance. Nearby Jennette's Pier is brand new and gorgeous. We had a great time hanging out there. There is also a smaller pier about 2 miles down the road (MP 18) where we found an awesome little dive bar called Fishhead's. They had the best crabcake sandwich and cheese fries! The house's owner was very friendly and very responsive to questions that arose throughout the entire booking and rental process. He had great travel tips and he even let us check in a little early since we arrived early. I would absolutely recommend this house to friends and family! We can't wait to rent it again next time we come down to the Outer Banks!

Great beach rental!!

Wonderful beach cottage in a great location! This was our first trip to OBX and this house helped make it a memorable vacation. We walked to the beach, restaurants, the outlet stores, and along the hike/bike trail with our toddler and newborn in tow. The house itself is nicely renovated with a fully-equipped kitchen and two full bathrooms. Whether you want sun or shade, you can find a great spot on one of the three outdoor decks. We will definitely rent this place for future vacations. The owner is friendly, the house was clean upon our arrival, and the rental rate is a great value. This house is a gem!! One caveat for your drive in -- ask the owner for tips for avoiding traffic heading south on 158.

WONDERFUL!!!!!!

We were first time vacationers in the OBX! This home was wonderful! The home was so clean and comfortable. It had every kitchen utensil you would need. The neighbors were very quiet & friendly. Great location. Beach access is only a 2 minute walk accross the street. Very easy! The bike trail is right in front of the house. Very convenient! We biked to Jockey's Ridge State Park to the sand dunes. My family also loved the Jeanette Fishing Pier. They caught 20 blues in one evening. We also did some crabbing, which our son enjoyed tremendously. Everyone at the bait shops were very helpful. There are many wonderful restaurants close by. We would highly recommend this beautiful home! I would definitely rent again....it was a memorable vacation.

A Real Vacation

This was one of the most relaxing, laid back, enjoyable vacations I have experienced in a longtime. We spent a week in this well equipped, attractive, comfortable home. The beach was across the street and beautiful. The neighbors were quiet and friendly. There were ample activities within walking distance (shopping, eating, the pier,..). There were equally just as favorable activities within a short drive. We really had a great time this week. The owners were very helpful and involved and the house was perfect, fully equipped with everything. I would not hesitate to recommend this house to friends and I hope to be able to rent it again myself.

Beautiful Home at a Great Location!

We spent a long Easter weekend at this home and can't say enough about it. The care and attention to detail is obvious with the remodel work and decorating in the home. It's in a great location, off the busy road, but a simple 5 minute walk to Jeanettes Pier. Renting was easy and the landlord was very friendly. We will definitely look up this rental again the next time we visit OBX! Thank you!

Repeat Renters

This is my second time renting this property. My sister and I came here in the fall and this time my husband, son and I were able to come for spring break. Once again the house was wonderful. Even though the weather didn't cooperate we kept ourselves entertained with shopping, the aquarium and fishing on the pier. The sun did shine on our next to last day there and we were able to take the short walk to the beach. The owners are wonderful and we hope to rent once again in the fall.

NC/VA family time

The pictures do not do this cottage justice -- it is so clean and decorated beautifully! We stayed here after Christmas and could easily travel to Jockey's Ridge and the Wright Brothers Memorial. The outlet stores are on the street right behind the cottage! The large outdoor decks would make this an excellent summer place. We also enjoyed parking our cars underneath the house. This cottage is one of the best finds on VRBO. You will not be sorry if you rent this one.

Great Stay

We rented this place over Christmas, to have our own place but still join a large family gathering down the road. We were able to rent for three days--but I'm guessing during high season you usually need to stay for a week. Anyway, we had a fine stay. It's obvious the unit has been very recently remodeled and it was super clean and comfy. Be advised it is NOT right on the water. It is just across the road from the beach, with easy access. There are also nice views of the beach, especially from the highest part of the deck. You are close in to shopping, restaurants, attractions, etc. Some will find this location a plus, others a minus (depending on how much you prefer to be out of the way). It was quiet during our stay, but you might get some traffic noise in the summer time, when more people are using the road. You need to bring your own linens and towels, but we suppose this is one reason that such a nice house was so affordable. In all, we highly recommend the unit.

Perfect 4 days!!!

My sister and I had a wonderful 4 days!! Not only was the weather beautiful but the cottage was perfect. Very well equipped with everything that we needed. The location was great for walking to the beach, dinner and the pier. Communication with the owners was very easy. We would recommend to family and friends and we hope to return in the spring. Dinner at Owens and breakfast at The Dunes were great!!

Neat, clean & charming!!! A+ location! We cannot say enough good things about our stay!

Aside from being immaculate, the house is in a fabulous location. There really is something for everyone. The beach is directly across the street & the ocean/sound views are awesome from the rooftop deck! The listing of this house does not do it justice...There is a large patio underneath the home with plenty of shade, a picnic table, chairs, shower, parking, clothes line, charcoal grill: a great area for the guys to hang out or the kids! There is also a nice sized back yard! The decking is brand new with solar lights that light up the stairway, 2 high director style chairs sit facing bch road on the mid level deck, & there is a convenient built in bench seat on the rooftop deck. This is where the girls & I discovered how close we were to the Tanger Oulet Mall ! (directly across the hwy) We shopped in the morning & laid on the beach all afternoon. We walked to breakfast at the Dunes & walked to Wings to get souvenirs in the evenings. Jeanette's Pier is an easy walk from the road or the beach.....there was a Kayak competition & a wedding there on Saturday!! Pretty exciting...;0) If you like shelling, you will not be disappointed either. I found a huge conche (whelk) shell the first 15 minutes I was on the beach & even found a whole sand dollar! Wow. There are hotels almost next door. If family & friends want to vacation at the same time without over crowding you at your house, they can! The open style of the livingroom & dining area is perfect for keeping everyone in on the action.....you can cook & still be part of the party! The kitchen is well equipped with plenty of storage & new appliances. Everything worked as it should- the washer, dryer, endless hot water, toilets all flushed, the oven, the ice machine, the TV (tons of channels), free internet access, the iron, the vacuum, fans, lighting....and I must stress that you will feel at home there. The decorating is very cottag-ie & beachy.....the women will love it & the men will appreciate the fact that the women are so happy & comfortable in the house. Even the neighbors were friendly & understanding that we were on vacation! LOL. I must also say, the owner is very attentive to his renters and their questions. It was a pleasure doing business with him. I would recommend this house to my family & friends without hesitation, as long as they didn't want to rent it the week I want it! My husband & I will definitely return in 2012!!!
