Loved our stay, everything was as described. Joy was a pleasure to work with. Lots of deer and turkeys and nice area to walk and explore. Would recommend and stay again if we come back to South Dakota!

We had a great time! The cabin is in a great location, easy to find with excellent access to groceries, stores, restaurants, and the park. Wonderful!

Family getaway

We loved the location, peace and quiet. House was perfect size for our family. Close to Custer state park, bear country and reptile gardens.

Beautiful location with good view of stars and wildlife. Great proximity to all the sights, fishing & hiking. We had a group of 8 and had everything we needed. Our host was very responsive. Loved it and wouldn't think twice about staying again!

Beautiful property with lots of space and amenities. Close to lots of tourist attractions but also secluded to feel at home! Cows were fun roomies outside. The whole family loved it!

Our stay was wonderful! There was more than enough room for 6 adults. The kitchen was fully stocked with appliances and tools. It was so quiet and peaceful. This was one of the cleanest Vrbos I've stayed in. I hope I can come back!

Great house with plenty of space to spread out and relax. Both kids and adults enjoyed the game room. Very quiet area along lower French creek with wildlife visiting the property often. Very easy drive to Custer incase you need anything. Also, a quick way into Custer State Park wildlife loop. Due to a burn ban, we couldn't cook over the fire but there was a very nice blackstone and gas grill there for us to use. Large kitchen for food prep. You do have to go up a fight of stairs to enter the house, which might be hard for some but didn't bother us. Owner is local and very nice to work with. She definitely has a passion for the area and to be a great host. I would not hesitate to stay at any of her properties.

We absolutely loved our stay! The property is breathtaking and location was perfect for Custer/Mt Rushmore. Communication with Joy was perfect, check-in was a breeze, the listing photos were true to the house. Fully stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, plenty of space for our family of 10 (7 adults, 3 kids). The kids loved the game room for downtime. We all loved waking up and sitting out on the deck, watching Ferdinand and Milkshake.

Perfect for Families and Friends

House was clean, and well designed for families to share time together. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen was large enough to cook for family of eight. Blackstone grill on deck was clean and easy to use. The fire pit was a big hit with the kids. We ate s'mores even when it was raining! We were supplied with enough paper towels and toilet paper for our week. The livestock and wildlife on the property provided constant entertainment. The stream was just fast moving enough to be a little thrilling, but safe to play in! Location was great because it is close to the town of Custer, and remote enough for kids to run and play without bothering neighbors! I would highly recommend this property for families and friends that want to explore Mount Rushmore and the surrounding area

Beautiful area and wonderful stay

We took our kids here on a family vacation and we all loved it. The house was it great shape and had so many activities to keep the kids entertained. They were ages 9-13, and never got bored. They explored the creek, went hiking in the Black Hills National Forest right out the back door, and played many of the games the host provided. The highlight for our daughter (and also the boys) was getting to see Penelope and Ferdinand. The house is very close to so many outdoor attractions like Stockade Lake, Bismarck Lake, and Custer State Park. We always had many choices on outdoor activities. The house had everything we needed, as well as a great stock of coffee. Several mornings I took some coffee outside to watch the peaceful morning while the kids slept in a bit. Thank you for making our vacation perfect and memorable!

Thank you for your review. I have tried to create a memorable space with the things I enjoy when I travel. My son is 17 and loves fishing in the creek for trout and catching crawdads. Penelope and Ferdinand enjoy the attention for sure. I personally sit on my porch (which is just down the road), drink my coffee and think of how blessed I am to live where I do. Thank you, Joy

Great location and accommodations. Beautiful property with ample wildlife.Slight barrier (8" step up) accessing upper level bedrooms and bathrooms and very few clothes hangers available. One member of our three couple group stumbled downward at the hallway transition. There was no injury involved. Otherwise this was a great VRBO experience.

This is a great place to stay. It’s very quiet and secluded but also very close to Custer and Custer State Park. We were sad that the cows were nowhere to be seen because we were looking forward to seeing them. There were many deer around the property and we enjoyed watching them. The stairs to enter the property are steep and may be difficult for some. The house was greatly stocked and made cooking a breeze. The common areas are spacious and comfortable. Two of the bedrooms don’t have air conditioning and were pretty warm for sleeping. We loved the fire pit Overall this was a great place to stay and we would return
