Four years ago a major life change was made with a move to a more rural area where we were so very excited to finish raising our three children happily as a blended family. My husband and I also committed to becoming farmers who not only would live off our land, but give back to our community in simple, but impactful ways.

Greener Pastures Family Farm was a grand experience and the 5 stays on property that included a tiny house, bell tent, barn, cottage, and farm house hosted hundreds of guests with great success and warmed my heart beyond measure.

Now on our own, my son and I happily manage our Lake House in West Virginia and still get to enjoy farming, but on our new City Farm not far from our Lake House. Besides taking care of our city farm and lake house, we volunteer with local animal groups and are also very active in helping take care of the aging population in the mountain lake community.

Hosting and farming has given back to us in deeply satisfying ways. We are happily focused on helping to build agritourism in rural areas by providing wonderful places to stay. We welcome all and especially those seeking retreat from their daily norm. Whether with your significant other, family or friends - solitude, romance, and unending choice in outdoor activities exist here. The mountainous beauty of West Virginia and surrounding historical locations are calling and ready to be enjoyed by you and your guests.

Harpers Ferry is rich with history and surrounded by activities of all kinds. Soldiers marched towards Antietam to fight for the foundations of equality and a unified country during the Civil War. Now this area offers historical tours, water sports, wineries, breweries and multiple access points to the Appalachian Trail. This particular area of Harpers Ferry is truly enchanting. When we stumbled upon its misty mountains, we were completely taken with its solitude and beauty all within an hour of Washington, DC and only 30 minutes from Northern Virginia. Shannondale Lake has seen its share of DC elites grace its sandy shore. Over the years, the lake has evolved from a private, invitation only retreat to what you see now - a fully functioning lake with water sports rentals, sandy beach, and year round restaurant and bar service. Whether here on your own to rest, work or relax, for winery tours, to visit historic battlefields and towns, celebrating a special occasion or to spend quality time with friends, family or lover you will not be disappointed.

Built in 1960, this lake house has been brought back to its glory. Spend romantic nights in the primary bedroom atop a comfy queen size platform bed with soft linens and artistic flare. The large closet is perfect to hide your suitcase and hang clothes to avoid wrinkles. Your guest bedroom with queen size bed has the coolest original vintage decorative touches. From the faux fireplace to the built-in shelving and cabinet, you will rest well in comfort and charm. And you too have a nice large closet to stash away your travel bag and hang your bathing suit 🙂 The third bedroom is a wonderfully bright and flexible space. Use the space to play games, as the kid's hang out or go ahead and turn the unique Euro style futon couch into a fabulous queen size bed by sliding out the base and flipping the back forward and down into place. Now the space is a second primary bedroom with its own ensuite full bathroom. In this below level you have your own private entrance too!
Back upstairs, the large sectional couch welcomes you to the expansive living room. The coffee table is perfect for a charcuterie board display or ready for some serious board game battles. The view of your fenced in backyard is lovely! Don't hesitate to open up the sliding glass doors to the large second level deck and expand the space even more! Let’s not forget your fur babies - the fenced in backyard is a favorite of dogs and their humans too! And if you have kids, the fenced in backyard is private and ready for some games of catch! Speaking of outside, enjoy a night time fire and make some s'mores for dessert. Better yet, grill your dinner on the propane grill, roast your desert over the fire pit then end your night watching the stars twinkle from your hot tub.
The kitchen lined with MCM cabinets is fully stocked with cooking needs and typical spices. Gather and enjoy a home cooked meal or order take out to enjoy around the beautiful solid wood dining table with sleek mid-century modern lighting.
