Great Location and Responsive Host, but Security and Comfort Issues to Consider
We stayed for a weekend getaway and appreciated the location — it’s close to downtown Macon restaurants, events, and activities, and the host was very responsive whenever we reached out, which we truly valued.However, there were a number of issues that impacted our comfort and sense of security.The check-in process was confusing: although there is a keypad on the front door, it isn’t used to enter — guests have to find and use a lockbox attached to the doorknob. Outdoor lighting is poor, and the lockbox was extremely difficult to open. Even after retrieving the key, the front door itself was very sticky and hard to unlock. Several interior doors throughout the home were also difficult to open or close properly.Regarding security, the alarm system could only be set in “away” mode, not while guests are home, which felt unsafe at night. Multiple windows had no curtains or coverings, leading to privacy concerns.The listing described the backyard as fenced, but it’s only partially fenced — the right side of the yard is open to the street and neighbors’ yards, which was disappointing and potentially unsafe for pets or children.We also encountered maintenance and cleanliness issues:•The deck netting had large holes, allowing mosquitos inside.•One of the TVs had missing batteries in the remote.•Mold was found under one of the bathroom floor mats.Overall, while we appreciated the central location and the host’s supportiveness, the home needs better maintenanc
