Lawless Rico is a boutique, loft-style property located in the heart of the San Juan Mountains in the eclectic hamlet of Rico, Colorado. Located in the iconic Dey Building built in 1892, Lawless Rico is a fully remodeled top-level property that spans the entirety of this infamous southwestern Colorado landmark. Each room thoughtfully blends Rico's rich mining and railroad past with nods to the neon cowboys that now call this authentic mountain town home. Situated above the Enterprise Bar & Grill (Colorado's 6th oldest operating bar!), Lawless Rico makes for the perfect basecamp for your San Juan adventures! Come enjoy world class mountain biking, hiking, fly fishing, backcountry and x-country skiing in one of Colorado's last true mountain towns. Telluride's world class ski slopes (and pricey accommodations) are just 30 miles up the road. End your day with a beer and a burger downstairs (or some darts in the lower-level speak-easy) before heading up to the comforts of a hot shower and a soft bed!
The Blackhawk Room has an adult-sized bunk bed with a queen over queen set up, a ceiling fan,dresser and sitting area. Besides their own private room, guests have access to the shared library, full kitchen, and dining areas and two full baths located throughout the property.
Rico travelers will also be rewarded with tasty provisions at one of our two incredible coffee shops where caffeine and calories are served up daily! Make sure you make a dinner reservation at The Prospector where you will be blown away by a chef driven menu in one of the region’s most lovingly curated eateries! Lawless Rico guests are also invited to soak in the riverside hot springs that lie just above main street to put the exclamation point on a truly unique mountain excursion.

Rico Weekend

The rooms are wonderfully decorated. The beds are comfortable with really warm, comforters and soft pillows. The owner is easy to contact, He returns emails almost immediately. He provided a heater when the weather turned really cold. The kitchen and bathrooms are very clean. We loved our stay here and would come back. We would also recommend it to our friends and family.

Incomplete Description

The listing lists the bathroom as part of the space, but it is shared. It also does not share that while there is no air conditioning (which fine, that is common in the mountains) there is also no fan or operable windows in the room. My room was 80 degrees when I arrived at 1 AM and there was nothing to be done about it. The hallway is also on an occupancy sensor that turns the hallway lights on and off all night, which shine into the rooms through windows above the doors.

Elk hunting camp

I was elk hunting near Rico and used your room as my hunting camp. Didn't mind the bathroom being down the hall - much more comfortable than sleeping in a tent! (Yes, I got a big elk opening morning.)

Rico visit

Good location for our needs. Really enjoyed the people at the Enterprise bar. And breakfast @ Fireweed was excellent. Good beds. Nice Bathrooms. Noise was a problem. Someone was doing laundry early (6am) Sunday and Monday morning. Really loud clanging noise. Doors to rooms are unable to be opened without lots of pressure and a big bang. Need to be shaved or planed off. Window above bedroom door should be covered so every time the hallway light goes on you don’t see it.
