Amidst the hustle and bustle, East Fort Lauderdale is known for some serene and natural attractions. The Bonnet Museum and Gardens houses Fort Lauderdale lore in art and memorabilia. Surrounding this is the Hugh Birch State Park for the nature lover in us all. Hike, bike, fish or simply enjoy the serenity. For an up close and personal view of the city from its famous waterways the Jungle Queen Riverboat offers fascinating guided tours daily.
Nightlife rocks in East Fort Lauderdale. This is where it all happens. First stop is a visit to the well-known Elbo Room. Made famous by the film Where The Boys Area, this landmark is still buzzing after all these years. Walk down the street to Beach Place. Here you'll find Hooters, Fat Tuesdays and the always fun Sopranos Dueling Piano Bar all under one roof.
Much of the city's best shopping is right here in East Fort Lauderdale. Here you'll find an endless number of unique shops, boutiques and famous name stores are within blocks. Whether you're shopping for beachwear at Maui Nix at Beach Place, souvenirs in the fun, eclectic shops along the beach, or at the glitzy Galleria where you'll find Neiman-Marcus, Banana Republic and Macy's, you don't have to go far to satisfy the urge to shop.
Take a drive into Fort Lauderdale and shop at the popular Las Olas Boulevard (6 miles away) where you can enjoy premier shopping, dining, and the historic districts with something for everyone, then take a trip aboard Fort Lauderdale's water taxi that provides a prime view of the mansions and yachts dotting Millionaires Row.
Stop at the Stranahan House, a preserved 1900s home furnished with antiques of the era. Or "follow the red brick road" of the Fort Lauderdale Riverwalk, the landscaped park, to the Arts and Entertainment District.

The best way to get around is by car with free parking included with your stay.

Florida's Brightline train system makes it possible to travel from Fort Lauderdale to West Palm Beach and Miami without a car. Each ride takes about 30 minutes and departs daily every one to three hours, depending on the direction and time of day. Services are available every day from about 5:10 to 12:50 a.m. Basic seats cost $10 or $15 each.

You can see the city by boat with a fleet of water taxis that travel along the Intracoastal and downtown's New River, stopping at 14 points of interest in Fort Lauderdale and the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort. You can hop on and off the boats all day, but the tickets are a bit pricey. Each costs $28 per adult and $14 per child.

If your destination is not near a waterway, Sun Trolley offers routes with stops downtown and along the beach, as well as on Las Olas Boulevard. All routes are free except for the Beach Link and Las Olas Link routes, which cost $1 per ride or $3 for a day pass.

For shorter trips around the city, consider reserving a bicycle through the Broward B-cycle bike-sharing program.

There is a small fee to have the pool heated.
Note: Due to the operational limitations of external pool heaters, they will not operate when the outside temperature falls below 65 degrees Fahrenheit.
