Vacker seaside "Lunenburg Bump 'hus, bara några minuter från staden Mahone Bay. Five Oaks 10 sover bekvämt så det är perfekt för familjesammankomster. Huset är tjugofem år ung och byggd för att replikera en traditionell 1700 Cape hus med Lunenburg Bump. De flesta rum har vidsträckt utsikt över bukten. Ett stort däck, med utsikt över vattnet, gör utomhus konversation och måltider en vind. Fastigheten står inför 300 meter strandlinje med utsikt över majestätiska Mahone Bay. Gå längs Hanson och Hirtles Coves på en av områdets särskiljande och lugn vik vägar. Barnen kommer att älska att utforska den klippiga kusten vid lågvatten.

Det finns fem sovrum, två på entréplan och tre på andra våningen, inklusive en två rum länkad familjesvit. Ett vackert vardagsrum komplett med öppen spis ser ut på bukten. En separat allrum, även med en öppen spis, innehåller all teknik familjer behöver, inklusive en stor 42 "platt-TV och DVD-spelare. En nätt Lunenburg Bump utkik sitter område på andra våningen är det perfekta stället att läsa eller prata över morgonkaffet. Hemmet har vackra furu plankgolv i hela.

Ett nyrenoverat kök och matsal, komplett med nya apparater och alla bekvämligheter i ett hem slutfördes 2012. Huset är Wi-Fi utrustade. Uteservering är perfekt på husets nya främre däck. Det finns också en ny gas grill. Faciliteter inkluderar även två badrum (ett tre bit och en fyra bit).

Vi har möblerat Five Oaks med en kombination av gamla och nya - nya sängar och soffor kompletteras med vackra antikviteter från området. Egyptiska bomullslakan och fluffiga vita handdukar göra platsen känns som hemma.

Lokala butiker har underbara lokala favoriter som fishcakes och hummer rullar, blåbär scones och varma hallon muffins. Du kan äta i eller prova några av de många fantastiska restauranger i Mahone Bay, Lunenburg eller Chester. Alla tre städer är bara en kort bilresa bort.

Thank you James for a fantastic week. The home location was ideal for exploring the south shore and also staying close to home and enjoying picturesque Mahone Bay. We were all well accommodated in the bedrooms and the home decor was lovely, very warm and inviting. Kitchen was well appointed. Our two families had the perfect place to spend together.

A great spot we were 5 couples and found the place had plenty of room and well equiped.We had a great time and the view from the dec was fantastic.It exceeded all our exoectations other than we didn't understand one of the bedrooms opened into another befor you could use the washroom,.Would highly reccomend.

Lovely house on Mahone Bay…

Well appointed home on Mahone Bay across the water from the town. Lots of room for everyone, close to hiking trail and very short drive into town for restaurants, shopping. Small herd of deer roaming nearby was nice surprise too.

Beautiful home to gather together!

We had a family gathering at this beautiful home! The teens loved the cove! We brought our paddle boards from home and they spent hours. Hanging out of the deck snacking, having a glass of wine and catching up with family was lovely!

Beautiful location

A fantastic home with lots of room for the family to spread out and relax. Nice view from the front porch out to Mahone Bay and 2 kayaks with life jackets to go and explore. Nicely appointed kitchen and lots of space to eat inside and out but great restaurants nearby if you want to go out and there’s an ice cream shop only an easy and scenic 20 minute walk away!

Lovely home

From the minute we arrived we were enchanted. This was the perfect choice for our family of five adults and one child. It had everything we needed and more than we expected. Charming decor and plenty of space for everyone. The deck was a favorite gathering spot with its stunnig view of Mahone Bay. The bedrooms were charming, the kitchen had absolutely everything you could need, and the living areas were cozy and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely home.

A great place to stay, explore and cycle

The house and surroundings are lovely and very tranquil. The rooms were beautifully decorated and I loved the really modern and open kitchen which made making meals easy and a great way to connect with the family. We cycle so I rented bikes at a wonderful cycling store in Mahone Bay so we could explore some of the trails and roads that hug the shore. The views were spectacular! The town is also lovely and a great place to spend an afternoon shopping and enjoying local culture. Lunenburg and Chester are also close by and definitely worth visiting. This is one of the nicest vacation rental properties I've ever been in and I'd highly recommend it to others.

House is in a beautiful location. Clearly a beloved property for the owners. There are many signs of improvements being made, which resulted in a tarped off separate garage and many building materials in the driveway and boxes of supplies in stacks in both living rooms (behind furniture so not impacting use but still visible). Kitchen is very nice. We lost power one night and when the power came back on the water did not so we waited until 2pm the next day to have running water after both the owner and a plumber came to fix it.Bathrooms are both older and running toilets caused the well to run dry on a second day until 1pm. Owner called this user error despite telling me he would be fixing the toilets after our stay so future guests would not have to deal with that issue. No partial refund offered for the lack of water, which wasn’t great.Many antiques and smaller pieces of furniture. Would have enjoyed a larger sofa in the tv room so we could have all piled on for a movie day when it rained.Porch facing the water is very nice with two Adirondack chairs and a nice table with chairs.Saw the kayaks but couldn’t figure out how to easily get them into the bay so we did not use them.Tree branches in the driveway were so low our SUV scraped them every time we came and went. They should be pruned.Plenty of room for our group of 5 in their own rooms.Location location location.

Thank you for your feedback and kind words. Just a few additional comments: Power had been interupted to over 100 homes in the area (for approx. 5 hr) due to problems with NS Power's grid -- this was the first time this had occurred during the past 14 summers. Within an hour of my being contacted, someone was on their way to the home to analyse why there was no water. Three hours later the water had been restored. The same problem occured the next morning and was restored 3 hr later. The plumber found no broken equipment and nothing had to be fixed or replaced. This was the first time this had occured during the past 14 summers (yet alone two days in a row). Now, 2 1/2 weeks later, there have been no repeat problems but I will continue to monitor the situation and advise guests not to leave water running unnecessarily. Regarding tree branches, some of them do hang low after it has rained out (or are full of apples). I will have some of them pruned this fall.

Lovely Mahone Bay stay

Had a great week at the Oakland house. There were six of us and the house suited us very well. It was very hot but being in the trees helped keep the house cool. The kitchen has been updated and was well equipped with everything we needed. Loved the unique lighting fixtures! Deer came by every evening which was a real treat, especially for the little ones. The area is nice and quiet and the view from the patio is beautiful. We were a little disappointed that the hot tub that was included in the listing isn’t there as the kids would have loved it. There are two kayaks to use but we couldn’t see a way to get them in the water in front of the property so didn’t use them. There are a few nice walking trails in the area.

This has now been corrected by VRBO as we have never had a hot tub (due to health and safety concerns) and never intended to convey that we did. A comfy home!

This is a great place to stay if you need to work but also play. It has high-speed internet for those grinding days, set in a modern five-bedroom home. Two bathrooms mean little to no waiting time. The kitchen has lots of cooking and baking containers and trays if you want to get creative, but there are also several great restaurants nearby, like Oh My Cod! Halifax is also only an hour away, where you can visit the Citadel, the Public Gardens, and more, and have a great supper. The house was clean and bright. Having the air conditioners came in handy when a heat wave passed through, but otherwise, the windows were open to catch the cool night's breeze. You can pack light as there is a washer and dryer in the basement. Take time to enjoy a paddle in the bay in one of the two kayaks on the property. The lawns and gardens are well maintained and the view from the porch is outstanding!

Great location & plenty of room

Our family had a wonderful time at this home. There was ample room for us to gather together, inside and outside. The bedrooms were charming, and the kitchen was stocked with most of things that were needed for our stay. The view from the patio was lovely and the location of the home was perfect for visiting Lunenburg County.

Amazing location, loved Mahone Bay area, house was tricky for seniors...

Thank you for sharing this gem with us! We enjoyed it tremendously, and appreciated all the natural beauty around the home. It was difficult for my parents to navigate getting in and out of the property without a handrail for support and due to their arthritic joints, the suffered a great deal without A/C, so I might suggest amending the listing to reflect the placement of the window air conditioners For the younger gang, it was ideal - my 21 yr old was out every low tide discovering hermit crabs, crabs, and more! I hope that Fiona didn't hit you too hard! Thanks again for a beautiful spot.

We enjoyed our stay on peaceful Mahone Bay. This home is magnificently appointed, beautiful decor, excellent layout, and plenty of space to spread out and work or rest. The host provided exceptionally detailed instruction about the house, and surrounding sights. We highly recommend this property.

Charming East Coast Home

The house was very charming,! The kitchen was lovely to cook in, the view was gorgeous and the two sitting rooms were very relaxing. It hosted my family of seven very comfortably. My only complaints were that the bathrooms could use some updating and the house could use a good dusting. But other than that the kitchen, floors and rooms were clean. The location was perfect and I loved all the deer the wandered across the property in the evenings. Great vacation!

Great spot for a family holiday!

Just outside Mahone Bay and only minutes from Lunenberg this was a great place for our family of 10. Everyone enjoyed themselves and the house was great. James was quick to respond to queries and looked after a couple of little issues very promptly. Highly recommend.

Lovely property

Very charming house on a very large property and perfect for self-isolation (lots of room to walk around and get outside while keeping away from neighbours). The beds were very comfortable, ample supplies in the kitchen for a large party if needed, and a very quiet area with a lovely view of the bay. The owner was extremely accommodating and the check in check out process was quite easy. Would have appreciated an umbrella on the outside deck which can get very hot during the day but otherwise was quite satisfied overall with the house. Thank you James.

Summer visit to Mahone Bay Nova Scotia

Our family stayed at this property in August 2019. The location was great as it was close to town but far enough away for quiet privacy. There is nice separate areas for conversations if you have a big group. Some of the side chairs need to be replaced with more comfortable pieces (everyone commented on this). The kitchen is well set up. We cooked a few meals and also ate some out in Mahone Bay, Lunenburg and Chester. There needs to be updating for some of the mattresses . My husband and I stayed in the main room downstairs and it was comfortable. The rest of the family said the mattresses were not comfortable. The outside patio area has nice views but some comfy furniture would be nice to replace the old pieces . James was prompt to answer any of my questions. The house is in a lovely area and I would enjoy staying again. It was a special trip to celebrate our Dad’s 93 birthday!

I'm glad to hear that you had a special trip. Thank you for your recommendations as we will be looking, this winter, to see how we can continue to improve the stay of our guests. The three queen beds are relatively new but we will replace the double bed based on your comments. The side chairs are local antiques and, therefore, not quite as comfortable as the modern armchairs and sofas - but we try to furnish the house with a mix of modern and nostalgia. We will be adding some lounge chairs on the outdoor patio for next summer. Thanks again!!!

I love this area and fufilled a lifelong dream by buying this seaside home. It's a retreat for me and my family and I love that it has plenty of room for us to entertain guests as we love showing them the beauty of this wonderful area.

I sail and love to explore the many coves and areas of Mahone Bay. Chester and Lunenburg are a few hours away by sail and we enjoy shorter day trips exploring the many ocean wonders. We've seen dolphins, seals and many birds and other marine life in the Bay, it's very special.

Five Oaks by the Sea is a perfect house for families. It has lots of room for adults and kids with a living room for conversation and a family room for games, videos and other family pursuits. Five bedrooms allow people to spread out and two bathrooms make things easy. The ocean is endlessly interesting and walking, biking or running along the cove roads that hug the shore is something everyone loves.

We are close to all that South Shore has to offer. Five Oaks is a few minutes from Mahone Bay, about fifteen minutes to Lunenburg and twenty minutes to Chester. All have great restaurants and shops full of local treasures. They are all important historical locations as well and are fun to spend time in. Chester Race week and the Pirate Festival in Mahone Bay are really fun.

In Lunenburg have a great lunch or supper at the Magnolia Grill or Fisheries Museum. Fleur de Sel is a great place for an intimite dinner.

In Mahone Bay we love Jo-Ann's Deli Market & Bake Shop, a local market with the most fantastic takeaway food and home baking including the best blueberry scones and warm raspberry or rhubarb muffins. Zwicker's Inlet Restaurant & Cafe
is a great place for lunch with beautiful views of Mahone Bay's famous three churches. Try the Mug and Anchor for a pint of Keith's on the patio overlooking the harbour.

In Chester, check out the Chester Playhouse, get a meal at the Kiwi Cafe or have a fabulous dinner at Nicki's Inn.

As well, the area has many wonderful beaches like Hirtles (our favourite), Rissers and Green Bay. All are a short drive away. Another great trip is to drive to the Lehave River and take the car ferry across. It's a short trip and gives you unparalleled views of this great river. The Lehave Bakery is on the other side, which is worth a trip in itself!
