Unwind in our new and luxurious retreat while enjoying the beautiful Montana sunsets by the campfire, the stars never looked so bright!! This 8 acre homestead is surrounded by farmland, huge mountain peaks, and abundant wildlife. Our countryside location is peaceful, but within close proximity to all the Flathead Valley has to offer.

Perfect for a romantic getaway, couple's trip, or a family vacay. You'll find our pristine retreat very spacious with vaulted ceilings, exposed rustic timbers, and large windows with breathtaking views. This new build has modern and cozy decor with a fully equipped kitchen with all small appliances, spices, and stainless steel appliances. It has everything you need to cook great meals together. It has a large capacity washer and dryer for your convenience.

After a full day's adventure, enjoy a hot and relaxing soak in the cast-iron tub, where you will find bath robes provided for your comfort. Both bedrooms are equally roomy and feature his and her closets with plush pillow top King size beds featuring luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets for a wonderful night's rest.

The Mountain View Retreat is 1150 sq. ft, on the main level of the Big Black Barn. It has 2 bedrooms, one on each end, bathroom, living room and kitchen. A large yard with flowers, a beautiful stone patio & fire pit, barbecue grill, and parking space.

Glacier National Park has implemented a ticketed entry system. In addition to your park pass, you will need a vehicle registration ticket in order to be able to enter the park between the hours of 6am and 3pm. Please check out the Glacier National Park website for more details, updates, and instructions on how to obtain the vehicle registration ticket. The dates the ticket entry system is in effect are as follows:

May 26 through September 10 - reservations are required for Going-to-the-Sun Road westside entrances and the North Fork from 6 am to 3 pm.

July 1 through September 10 - reservations are required for east side entrances including Many Glacier, Two Medicine, and Going-to-the-Sun Road from Rising Sun from 6 am to 3 pm.

Slice of Heaven

One of the best places we've stayed using VRBO. Clean, peaceful and had anything we could possibly need to feel like home away from home. The bed was very comfortable, the water was warm and the location was perfectly nestled in open fields with gorgeous views of the ranges. We saw deer, geese and a fox. Very close to town and easy access to highways for GNP and Flathead Lake. We enjoyed just cruising down the dirt road alongside the farms. It was an experience that was gone too soon, but looking forward to having again in the future.

Great Location, Great Property!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the "Big Black Barn". The location was perfect for exploring West Glacier N.P. and we had convenient access to Columbia Falls for shopping and restaurants. The Browns have created a very comfortable home-away-from-home with this property - very clean & well-maintained with modern appointments and comfortable beds. We can truthfully say that this was one of the best equipped properties we have rented - from kitchen supplies to a well stocked first-aid closet (including bear spray to use while exploring the park). There is even a private, wood burning fire pit area complete with all the fixin's for s'mores! We would definitely stay here again!

We absolutely loved the location of this property. We felt like we were in the center of everything. The property was very beautiful and very clean. The owners responded quickly when asked questions. I would highly recommend this property to family and friends. Also, the beds were comfortable and there were many details that were well thought out. The lighting in the property was fantastic. They had fans in both of the rooms and the kitchen was fully stocked if you wanted to make meals. They also had a fire pit and grill for use. The place was also stocked with paper items, shampoo & conditioner, body wash, spices, and laundry detergent. We would definitely stay there again friends

Absolutely Amazing!

This VRBO was recommended to us from a friend that had stayed here. We were more than happy with the accommodations; they exceeded our expectations! The property is beautiful. The interior is decorated so nice, and we felt right at home upon entering. The space is cleaner than any VRBO we have stayed at. Unfortunately, we had a family emergency and had to leave early. Sarah, the host was so understanding and helpful! We have already booked a stay to return and enjoy this delightful VRBO. Don't hesitate, book this VRBO now, you will not regret it!!

Amazing Montana Stay

5 star rental! Beautiful, comfortable, with fantastic amenities. This well-built new structure is hosted by a wonderful husband and wife team. Grounds and surroundings are amazing. The nicest short term rental we've ever visited. Perfect for daytrips to Glacier, Whitefish and Flathead Lake. Can't recommend this place enough!

Perfect choice for our trip!

Having never been to Montana before, I feel so lucky to have discovered this property. It is the perfect location to make a base. We went to Whitefish, Glacier National Park (several times) and also down to Big Fork. Each was such an easy drive. The house had everything for me and my teen boys. Actually it was stocked with more than we could ask for from cooking spices & kitchen supplies to laundry detergent and even robes and lavender linen spray!!! The house is designed so beautifully and tbeds and pillows were so comfortable. Sarah and Clay have thought of everything and are so nice and helpful. You won’t regret booking the Big Black Barn!

Best rental property we have EVER stayed in!!!

The Black Barn was absolutely fabulous! Everything was so new and clean and spacious. The beds and pillows were amazing, plus the host had everything we needed and they thought of everything. Great location for us, as we went to Glacier National Park each day. Plus close to restaurants and stores, but away enough to feel secluded. HIGHLY recommend this property and we plan to come back again.

Best one yet!

This place was awesome! We had three VRBOs on this trip, and many others in the past, but this one was the best so far. This place was very clean and the host has thought of everything to make your stay warm and welcoming. From the beautiful fire pit area and country setting, to the huge comfy beds and all the modern amenities! The washer and dryer were a huge plus! Our other two places had no laundry so we were able to get everything clean to finish out our trip. This place checked all the boxes!

The best place we ever stayed! We are so glad we didn't stay inside glacier national park. Everything about the big black barn is perfection. So clean, well designed, everything feels so cozy, relaxing & luxurious. We look forward to coming back every day after adventuring at the glacier. Both my wife and I can't help saying "this place is so nice" every time we get back after a long day. You can tell the host made so much effort in making sure you are comfortable and have everything thing you need, even for emergency. Sarah and Clay are so welcoming, thoughtful and sooo friendly. Don't hesitate to say hi when you see them! We feel like we made new friends after chatting with them. And they seems like the kind of family who will stay in touch if you do. We also got to see more of their lovely home they built and design. Both the rental and their home are such goals very insta pinterest worthy. It be a dream of ours for them to design or styled our home one day. Our stay was so lovely, it was so hard & sad to leave on our last morning. We will forever cherish everything, we will never forget this place and their family. We will highly recommend to everyone we know who will visit glacier national park. And would instantly come back here just to stay at their place, if we visit again.

The Big Black Barn: Big Heart under Big Sky

The Big Black Barn is absolutely stunning - quiet luxury at its finest! Sarah and her husband have built such a beautiful retreat, it was hard to leave each morning but a joy to come back to at the end of our adventure packed days. They set the tone with a sweet welcome basket and generously stocked fire pit. The interior is expertly decorated while still allowing the view of the Columbia Mountain Range take center stage. The kitchen and great room are open to each other making socializing while cooking effortless. A bedroom on either side - each with a king-sized bed, comfortable mattress/bedding and plentiful storage - serve as quiet sanctuary when winding down for the evening. Throughout the space they paid attention to the smallest of details that make you feel like a welcome and wanted guest. Their communication underscores that sentiment as well. From the booking confirmation through checkout - every interaction was pleasant and accommodating. It is situated in a gorgeous farming valley yet reasonably close to GNP, Whitefish, Amtrack, Kalispell airport and retail shopping. The Big Black Barn is a special place : ) Thank you, Sarah and Clay, for sharing your beautiful space with us...It was the heart of our stay. We will cherish the time we spent and the memories we made.

New and Absolutely the BEST!!!

I'm so elated that I took a chance on a new property with no feedback! It's more than you can imagine... Everything new, and top-of-the-line; mattresses so comfy, small and large appliances are the very best, comfortable furniture with a homey feel, separate thermostats so bedrooms can be set for personal preference. And, the most breathtaking view of the mountains! I even got to see a herd of elk close by. From people I visited with, this herd can be seen often and year-round! I was shocked since this property is fairly close to town! I'll never forget this experience and will definitely stay here again whenever I have the opportunity.
