Huvudbyggnaden har 4 grundförordningarna och 3. 5 bad. De viktigaste våningen har öppen planlösning w / en gourmet kök, en 6-sits ö, matsalsbord för 10 och en naturligt upplyst vardagsrum med en gammaldags vedspis. De viktigaste våningen MBR innehåller en king size-säng, privat badrum w / stor två huvud dusch, och en privat balkong. Utanför matsalen är en annan balkong och en täckt / skärmad-in veranda. Köket har en spis och gasgrill med alla de redskap som behövs för att förbereda en fest för familj och vänner.

Den lägre nivån har 3 rymliga grundförordningarna w / queen sängar w / inbyggda bokhyllor, 2 fulla bad och gå ut tillgång till en stor bakgård. Det centralt belägna mediarum innehåller en stor TV och massor av bekväma sittplatser.

The Coach House har 2 queen size grundförordningarna och 1 badrum. Ett spel med pool, foosball, poker, och air hockey bord. Också en video sittgrupp.

Amazing!

This property surpassed my expectations. The house is amazing and very comfortable for a large group. There is a huge living / kitchen area and a screened in porch. The bedrooms are all remote enough to have privacy. All bedrooms are very comfortable. The house was very clean. Master suite on the main floor was great for someone who doesn’t want to do stairs. The fire pit was so enjoyable. We saw a lot of wild life and the privacy was exactly what we wanted. Note that the decor and house are a bit rustic but we LOVED that about it. We are already planning our next stay!

Great spot

Overall, a great place to get a group of people together. There were 10 in our group and we were able to relax, enjoy the screened porch, firepit and hot tub and cook some wonderful meals together.

We enjoyed the house and it's location and also the use of the community pool. It fit all of us (13) with the use of the carriage house. With the kids downstairs, the adults could enjoy time on the main level, but if we wanted to all be together, that worked on the main level, as well. We made use of the deck and the screened in porch, and the hot tub. The kitchen was equipped with a big fridge and we used the dishwasher a lot. We did notice a few minor repairs that were needed on the house and sidewalk, but they didn't interfere with our use of the property. An electric water kettle would be a nice addition. We brought our own and it was used a lot. We would definitely go back to the property.

Absolutely a wonderful place to stay!

My family and I stayed here and we all loved it! The property was very clean and also was very large. We all had lots of room to enjoy different activities. The owner was also extremely nice and accommodating.

Great kitchen!

Wonderful open kitchen and living room. The kitchen had plenty of kitchenware to create any meal you want. It was great! The teens loved the Carriage house!

Extended Family Gathering

Property was clean and had plenty of space for our family to gather. Access to Galena and Galena territory amenities was excellent. Plenty in the area for our multi age family, so having a central spot for staging and laughing was important. Deck and campfire is a great amenity to bring the family spirit together.

Cozy and comfortable retreat

We rented this property for a skiing trip to Chestnut Resort in mid-February. It's an amazing place—comfortable, cozy, and spacious enough for 13 people across 4 families, with ample kitchen equipment. The playful character and personality of the owner really shine through.

Girl's 50th Birthday Celebration--quiet and relaxing

The property was wonderful. Very quiet...birds and wildlife. Star gazing and shooting stars were tremendous. Great location to relax and visit, and close enough to town to enjoy what the community and surrounding area provide for recreation.

Great girls getaway

We had a great stay. The house was spacious enough to accommodate our group of 12 very comfortably. Kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals. Several people enjoyed the hot tub but would have appreciated some solar lights to light up the path to get to it. We loved the secluded and quiet setting and still were close enough to enjoy the town of Galena.

Galena visit

Our group of 14 (adults and kids) really enjoyed the property. It is a large amount of space and feels very secluded. We saw lots of wildlife from the house and appreciated how remote it feels though it is an easy drive into downtown Galena. We had fun exploring the hiking trails and also had fun escaping the heat at the Owner's club pool. We will back to Galena in the future and we would recommend this property for any large group.

Great family stay, minor hiccups

We enjoyed our stay here with 9 adults and 2 children. Plenty of room and places to spread out. We did experience a few minor inconveniences with the electrical switches in the house (lights working and then not working with no rhyme or reason,) but overall really enjoyed the house and its amenities. The listing should be updated with the correct processes for check in and check out as those are outdated/incorrect.

Thanksgiving Get-Away

We decided to go “over the river and through the woods” for our extended-family Thanksgiving holiday this year. Our group ranged in age from 5 to 70 and the house and property were perfect for our 3 nights together. Plenty of room (bigger than the photos indicate) for game playing, crafting and cooking together! The kids had fun in the hot tub, game room and exploring around the pond. Kitchen worked great for preparing our Thanksgiving dinner. Dishwasher was a bit glitchy - or maybe we were : ) A very comfortable (if not posh) place to hang out together in a beautiful secluded setting (and the hosts have curated a really lovely collection of children books for a variety of ages- MANY of which were read during our stay). Dave was helpful and answered the questioned we had. Lots of good memories made!

This property was amazing, and definitely worth a 5 star review!

It was very clean, and well furnished. The setting seemed remote, but in reality we were close to all the immenities of the Galena Territory; indeed this property proved to be “the best of both worlds!” Lots of things to do on both sunny days, as well as rainy ones. The property includes a game room & a large media area, which came in handy for one day that was rainy. Provided a very peaceful & relaxing atmosphere, both inside & out. Loved all the interesting decor in the house. The huge dining room table was perfect for our big group, & we loved the hot tub, & fire pit area. The owner was pleasant & helpful, yet non-intrusive. We definitely hope to stay here again next summer. Fantastic experience!

Large, secluded property

The house and coach house were a great place for our three families to get together and celebrate New Years. The main house has a large bedroom on the main floor and three bedrooms on the bottom floor, all with queen sized beds and fold out couches. This made it easy to be flexible with the kids' sleep arrangements. The coach house is separate from the main house and has a large living room with fold out couches and game room and two queen bedrooms. It's nice that all the bedrooms are comparable. There was plenty of space for our three families of 4, 4, and 5 people, though if you have younger kids they can't really stay in the coach house by themselves. The house has good amenities, the view is peaceful and the hot tub made it really special. As you can see from the photos, the decor is dated (1990s) but the furniture is solid and the house is clean. Nice short stay for a group of three families.

Great Location, Great House, Broken Hot Tub, Turd in the Pool

We have been going to Galena as a family for the last five years and the location of this property was by far the most picturesque and secluded. Unfortunately, when we arrived the hot tub cover was off and the hot tub was not in working condition. I called the host and he told me somebody must have left the cover off, which I knew This was one of our key search criteria for a house, so we were very disappointed. House was relatively clean, but lots of dead flies. The house itself was perfect for accommodating our 13 guests and the coach house was nice if you have teenagers or part of your group that needs quiet. Our kids found a turd in the community pool on the only day we had scheduled to visit. The pool had to be shut down for 45 minutes while it was deturded. With 5 passes to the owners club we had had to pay $40, which we lost due to the poo in the pool situation.

Privacy for the whole family near Galena

We had 8 adults and 2 kids. The house met our needs quite well. The kids loved the table games in the coach house, and the adults loved the screen porch. The house is very private, so we didn't have to worry about being too loud by the fire at night. Unfortunately, part of being in the country is spotty and slow internet. We had cell service, though, so we could use our phones. A few of the mattresses need to be replaced, but being there for just 3 nights made it bearable. The kitchen was well stocked and the grill worked great. We had to clean and treat the hot tub with the supplies we found in the mechanical room, because it had no chlorine and a bunch of debris in it when we got there. That was rather inconvenient. Check-in and -out were easy. They ask that you take all your garbage to the drop station, which requires one of the club keys, so we did that the day before we left. Then we took what garbage we generated the last day with us when we left so we wouldn't have to bring the club key back to the house. We would stay here again.

Needs maintenance

I am not disappointed we stayed here, the layout of the house and guest house were great. Secluded, no next door neighbors. Lots of room to be together and also many spaces to get away by yourself. Appreciated the large dining table so all 12 of us could eat together. Kitchen had what we needed to make a large meal every night. Washer and dryer were fine. 6 passes included to galena territory owners club, would have been nice to have more. BUT - The squirrel living in the wall of the master bedroom woke us up every morning about 6:00 am, The 2 patio doors off of the dining room were very difficult to open and close. The dishwasher was pretty useless, we ended up washing dishes by hand. Water was hard, there was a softener in the utility room, but certainly was not operational. Other minor things here and there that you live with in your own house, but expect more when you rent from someone else. Owner did not reply to vrbo message or text to his phone, but did answer when I called.

About eight years ago friends of ours loaned us their house for a couple of days while the well was being repaired at our home. Also at this time we were looking for a place to build a therapeutic riding center for special needs individuals. We fell in love with the Galena/Jo Daviess County experience and decided this would be the place where we would build the center. In 2008 our dream was realized and the center was opened. It is called 'Area of Dreams' and is located on Blackjack Road near Chestnut Mountain Ski Area. See links for further information.

The center relies 100% on volunteer help. At the time we lived 3-hours away and most of the volunteers were from the same area. The center operates on weekends, so we needed a facility to house the volunteers who came on weekends. Luckily we found this unique property that fit these needs.

This is a very secluded/private property that makes people feel they are deep in the north woods even tho civilization is just over the next hill or on the other side of the trees. As people enter the house they immediately begin to relax due to inviting and warm atmosphere of the house. Next they cannot wait to explore the many unique and fascinating features of the property. The tin ceiling, wood stove, hot tub and pier, pond, media and game rooms, and interesting decorative items. The open floor plan offers a wonderful place for family and friends to enjoy each others fellowship.
