The barn was spacious, and conveniently located to family we were visiting. Hannah is a great host and responds quickly if needed. We especially appreciated the 3 bathrooms, all with showers and there appeared to be plenty of hot water as we never ran out, even when all 5 of us showered at the end of a long day. If you’re looking for a place that can comfortably accommodate a large group, the barn is what you’re looking for.

An excellent property for larger family gatherings as it will sleep many people. Very unique (restored bank barn) and full of interesting family history. Room to spread out both indoors and out. Private. Hosts were wonderful. Highly recommend if you are interested in a different and interesting experience!

This is our second time to stay here and it didn't disappoint! The kitchen is well equipped for a family that loves cooking. Beds are comfortable. The fireplace, all the wonderful books the space inside and the amazing winter wonderland books

Team Hardwood loved their stay at The Barn

This was a great place for our team to stay for a training camp. We have stayed here before in the Wylie XC ski races but this was the first time in the summer. We had great access to th Gatineau Park for training. The setup was perfect for our team. Very cozy and warm atmosphere. Great hosts. Looking forward to coming back again next year

Another great stay at Le Barn

My women's group had another great stay at Le Barn. We skied and hiked from the house. The house is clean and well stocked with all the necessities. It is the perfect location for large groups and family getaways, with plenty of room to spread out and make noise without bothering others in adjacent rooms. Hosts are great, with excellent communication. Great!!

Excellent Place!

This place was the perfect set up for our family get together. We were able to have lunches at the house for thirteen of us with enough seating and dish-ware. We loved the history of the Barn and the character. Interesting books and beautiful artwork. Treasures from around the world in every room. It felt like home! Highly recommend this place for a family gathering. John and Hannah also responded quickly to any communications we had .

Another Great Stay

Another wonderful week at Le Barn. Many thanks to our hosts! Just the kind of cozy, quaint and peaceful atmosphere we need for our extended family of 13 people! Lots of room for visiting and eating together with a large dining room (seats 12 easily) and a well-appointed kitchen with everything one needs to cook a satisfying family meal - even a dishwasher to help with cleanup. Close to tubing/skiing (Edelweiss, Vorlage), hiking, cross country skiing and snow shoeing (Gatineau Park), outdoor skating (Patinage en Foret, Rideau Canal, Ottawa), Poutine and other great food (including sugar bushes within an hours' drive), there is always something to explore. And if you're ever bored (unlikely) there is a book there for you. Promise. See you again...

A perfect place for family at Christmas

What an amazing place and the whole family said we couldn't have had a better place! Beds comfy, bathrooms plenty and perfect for bathers and those who prefer showers. Kitchen was amazing! We are a family of cooks and all agreed it was well appointed. The surrounding fields, rivers, and forests were perfect for little ones and serious hikers. Evenings in front of the fireplace (cocklestove from Germany) with books from the numerous bookshelves was absolutely wonderful. Thank you Hannah and John!

Amazing house, location and host

The house was fantastic, with too many amenities to name. It felt like they thought of everything a large group could need. With the ability to ski out the door or drive a very short distance to groomed trails, it is ideally situated for skiers. The drive to Ottawa is an easy 25 minutes to enjoy museum and charming neighborhoods and pubs. Wakefield is just a few minutes away, with good pubs and live music. The host was friendly and responsive. Altogether a wonderful experience! We will go back!

Perfect for big gathering, excellent hosts, charming historic Barn

I sincerely want to thank Hannah and John for opening up the Barn to visitors. The Barn is a family heirloom, passed down for generations. Walking into it felt like being welcomed into a part of their rich family history. The setting is idyllic and the Barn has its own charm and character. Both John and Hannah are friendly, flexible, responsive and reasonable people. A delight to deal with. Our families and friends genuinely had a great time connecting, relaxing and be rejuvenated. We highly recommend the Barn especially for large gathering and we definitely would love to come back again.
