Great Value in a Great Location
Truth be told, I did not have high expectations going in -- I knew I was renting in an older building and all I really cared about was that the place was clean and reasonably well maintained. What I got was so much more. The property was immaculately clean when I arrived. I have been vacationing in OC forever, and when I go, I expect that I will need to do some cleaning wherever I stay when
I arrive. How much cleaning I need to do depends on the unit and the cleaning service the management company uses, but I always feel like I need to do some clean up upon arrival at most rental condos. Here, I walked in and found the place spotless. Even the interior of the refrigerator was spotless. No sand left behind anywhere. No fallen hairs in the bathroom. Just cleanliness everywhere. That alone was 5 star worthy. The bed was very comfortable, which surprised me also because I could tell from photos that the living room furniture was dated. I expected a lumpy or hard bed as a result but it was so comfy. Even the living room furniture, though dated, was more than adequate for my daughter and myself. The tv was literally ancient, but we had wifi and a laptop, and since we have hulu, amazon prime, and several other streaming services, it made no difference to us. The beach is literally steps away. The second floor location did afford a partial view to the ocean, also good enough for us...we don't spend time on the balcony, we'd rather be on the beach itself. Because there weren't tons of high rises in the vicinity, the beach never felt crowded...it was heaven! There is no elevator, but who needs one when you only have one flight of stairs to climb? My only critique, and it is minor, is that the unit is cooled by two wall unit air conditioners (wall, not window). This meant it was a little noisier than central AC, and there was a slight smell...not musty or moldy, and I can't quite describe it, but I think it was related to the AC units, but honestly you don't even notice it after 10 minutes. If you are looking for brand new, plush accommodations, this isn't the place for you. But if you are looking for a very well-priced, and obviously well loved comfortable 1-bedroom condo, this is a great choice. I would stay again with no hesitation.
