Back Country Cottages offers a truly unique getaway for those seeking tranquility and relaxation in a remote wilderness setting. Accessible only by 4x4, ATV, or UTV, this retreat ensures an immersive escape into nature, free from the distractions of everyday life.
Cabin 1 offers comfortable accommodation for up to four guests, featuring two inviting bedrooms—one with two single beds and the other with a double bed. The three-piece bathroom provides hot and cold running water, ensuring modern convenience in a rustic setting.
The fully equipped kitchen includes a propane range, a charming wood-burning stove, a kettle, a Keurig coffee maker, and a toaster, along with all essential cookware and dining utensils. Step outside onto the spacious 200-square-foot patio, where you’ll find a private BBQ and a supply of precut wood for the stove—perfect for cozy evenings spent by the fire.
For added peace of mind, the owners of Back Country Cottages will be onsite in Cabin 5, dedicated to ensuring your stay is as relaxing as possible. All you need to do is sit back, unwind, and enjoy the serenity of nature.

This is the BESTEST location for the outdoor vacation. You are in the woods but with all necessary commodities you will need. If you want to escape and truly relax - this is the perfect place: no technology just you and nature. The pond is just a few steps away where you can kayak and fish. It is truly on of the kind place in NL. Hosts are amazing! We be coming back here all the time now:)

A Taste of Newfound InlandBack Country

The main objective of our 15 day trip to Newfoundland was to see icebergs, puffins and several coastal villages. But we also wanted at least one night inland. Back Country Cottages fit that perfectly. A full 30 km inland on old logging roads and trails off the highway, to the cabin at a 12 km long “pond”. We were really glad we had the owner drive us in and out in his truck because our rented sedan would have bottomed out in several places. It also gave us a great chat with the friendly and humorous owner who grew up in the area, to learn local history. The cabin was beautifully finish with all walls, ceilings and cabinets in knotty pine. Very rustic and calming vs the usual multi colour and nick nacks in many B&B. Would be fabulous for trout and salmon fly/fisher-people to stay for many days.
