This is a lovely, quiet neighborhood with a pretty beach. The owner is very responsive. However, the house needs a lot of maintenance and attention that it is clearly not getting without onsite management. The description also needs some clarifications. There is no beach view, except in the very top crows next where it fits maybe 2 people standing and there is no place to sit and enjoy it. Beach access is about 100 feet away in either direction, but it's quite a long walk through the dunes and would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. Description says there is a wall of doors that can be opened to enjoy the breeze, but handwritten in Sharpie is 'do not open, may not close again' on two of the three sets of doors. Fix the doors!
Regarding maintenance, the AC in the main house was broken, which was communicated to us a few days before we arrived. The temporary fix, however, did not keep the living area and upstairs master bedroom cool enough during our stay. Fortunately, the Owner comp'ed us adequately. But there are other issues. The built-in microwave doesn't work and emitted a concerning burned wire smell when we tried to us it. (Owner said he will just cut the wires so it can't be used. Fix it!) The front left eye on the stove doesn't turn down from high position, even when the knob is turned to low, which we discovered the hard way. These potential fire hazzards led us to check the smoke detectors, neither of which (both upstairs) were in working condition. Most of the hot tub jets don't work, so you don't get that bubbly hot tub feel. (Fix them!) Many of the 'upgrades' and 'fixes', even structural to the exposed ceiling beams, appear to not have been professionally done, and it shows.
There are also signs all over the house telling you what NOT to do, yet missing helpful info, like where to buy groceries. I've never experienced anything like it and I've rented a lot of vacation homes in many countries. It's just all around not in the best shape and not particularly renter friendly. It needs some investment of time and money to make it worth renting again. I'd call it bare bones. We would not rent again.
