My Pohaku Paea Studio suite experience
Cons:First, about three weeks prior to the booking, a fraudster impersonating the host sent an e-mail with the company name from a gmail account. They requested a response to then send a link to pay a maintenance fee and then later the deposit fee. I didn’t feel comfortable with it and tried to interact with the VRBO AI chat bot but it was no help at all. The fraudster knew the host’s name, company name, my name, the check in process, requirement for a picture of the ID and selfie, and the deposit fee. They sent a link to make the payment. I looked up the payment link company and it seemed legit. It wasn’t until the real host check in e-mail came shortly before the scheduled booking and subsequent back and forth with the real host that I realized I had been scammed. It’s either a VRBO hack or a host company hack. Or a former guest or employee. Whatever it is it’s not good.Second, the door of the unit is only secured by the provided code. While sleeping, I wondered if someone could enter because they knew the code. Perhaps the fraudster that appeared to know everything about the company and process. Or someone could just guess and get lucky. I think there should be an interior lock to protect the guests.Pros:It’s a neat location, concept, and layout. Despite the issues I had and now that I know the process and what to expect and what to ignore, I would consider booking again. I like the room, location, parking, and self serve nature. The pool is nice too.
