Cute, cozy and comfortable!

Urban sanctuary was as described—we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!! Jamie was a wonderful host— we were greeted with a kind note and she was very accommodating. The location was convenient to the bus stop, Aldi and Whole Foods. Thank you Jamie!!

Great Place

Thanks Jamie for the use of your wonderful apt. It was just as pictured. Very nicely decorated. Bed was comfy, kitchen well stocked, even supplied coffee! Close to Union Station and Metro stop.Jamie you were a pleasure to work with and also thanks for your suggestions for dinner! We had a great time in Washington and will return!

Perfect Location in DC

This location is an easy 15-20 minute walk from Union Station, less than a mile from the US Capitol, and if you are a walker about 2 miles from the end of the Mall. The bus line is just on the corner and Uber is a very close drive to virtually any location in DC. Two blocks over on H Street is a Whole Foods and lots of restaurants. The lodging has everything you will need from a full kitchen, a very quiet washer and dryer, and heated floor bathroom. It is truly a nice quiet place to return at the end of a very busy day.Jamie, the host, was fantastic. She met us when we arrived with a nice bottle of Proseco and extra shampoo. She was available, if needed. There is a white binder with all the information about the apartment and the area. Highly recommend staying here.

Amazing stay - highly recommend

I loved staying here and hope to return on future DC trips. The apartment has everything you would need for stay and the interior design details are inspiring. The bed was very comfortable. I was worried it might be chilly but was pleasantly surprised by the heated floors. Jamie, the owner, was awesome about checking in if I needed anything (which I didn't) and about offering early check in and check out, which was not needed but greatly appreciated. I would highly recommend staying here. Neighborhood is also very quiet and close to public transit to jump to where ever you would need to go.

Stayed here with my college age daughter to move her into her intern housing- clean, comfy, walking distance to capital and store around the corner for grocery needs. It’s also super cute inside! So glad I chose this listing to stay at!

Research trip

I needed to do research at the National Archives. The space was perfect and there is a great coffee shop on the way to Union Station. The Metro made it easy for me to just fly in and walk for most of my stay. Will stay here again when I come to do research

Great Property!

We are two older adults in our 60's that stayed in this property, we walked to Union Station daily to catch the DC Trolley to multiple attractions. Union Station also offers eating choices and a drug store for quick snacks, soda and more. We also walked to Nostra Cucina a great little Italian resturant dont miss this. While on tour of the Capital we walked to a taco place called Santa Rosa Taqueria fantastic nachos and drinks! We visited all the major attractions, by taking the trolley, there is a cost but well worth it as many attractions are ganged together as they drop you off at 15 different locations.The property was exactly as pictured, Jamie the owner was in our top three for communicating with us before our trip and during. Her responses are timely and informative. When we arrived there was a personal note to us along with a gift that we appreciated! You really could not ask for anything more. Keep in mind that this property is below ground and the steps to get down to the lower property is a little challenging, if you have some heavy lugage you will manage, but take your time. The property and surrounding area was quite, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was great, shower, and kitchen area had everything you needed.We would stay here again - I think you would enjoy this property as well.

Very nice place and neighborhood. Short walk to Supreme Court and Capital. Good street parking. All in all terrific experience for 6 nights, 3 adults. Good communication with owner. Would stay again.

Great spot and great host!

This was the perfect place to stay for a combo work/pleasure trip for my husband and me. The photos in the listing are accurate—this unit was recently remodeled and is very cute and comfortable. We appreciated the warm welcome and stocked kitchen. Jamie was very responsive—a great host!

Great visit!

We enjoyed our stay at Urban Sanctuary on Capitol Hill! It was just as pictured and Jamie was such a kind and responsive hostess! We were able to walk to the Capitol building and Union Station easily from this location and Uber rides were easy to come by too! The basement apartment was very clean and well equipped for our long weekend stay and there was a convenient little market right across the street too. We will definitely stay again next time we are in DC!

DC trip

This place is PERFECT ! Walking distance from all forms of transportation, beautiful quiet neighborhood. The home is comfortable and cozy, it included everything needed to get away but still feel at home... small things, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, washer dryer, dishwasher. The host is amazong and full of usefull information, the home has many brochures and maps to help with your trip while you enjoy breakfast in the fully equiped kitchen.... I could go on forever.... BOTTOM LINE: This place ROCKS ! and the host is amazing !

All the Conveniences & Comfort of Your Own Home

Property was beautiful with heat and a/c, clean, comfortable, fully stocked with anything you might need in a kitchen or bathroom, had a huge tv, had brochures of everything you might want to see during your stay, info on the metro and ubers, a washer and drier. Our host Jamie was lovely and helpful with everything. She even made us cookies!

Great Week in Washington,D.C.

Our first trip to Washington,D.C. was a huge success! Jamie was very quick to respond through the entire process. Room was perfect and all the things you would need were included,that you usually do not get at most rentals. Would definitely stay here again when traveling to Washington,D.C.

Cozy apartment

We spent a great week in DC celebrating our 20th anniversary. Jamie, our host was attentive and provided great recommendations for restaurants, which we appreciated! The apartment was clean, comfortable and well appointed. Can I tell you about the shower? It was better than my shower at home! We loved our time in our nation’s Capitol and feel we stayed in the perfect spot!

Cute, Comfy & Convenient

We spent a week seeing the major sights of DC. Appreciated the convenience of being within walking distance to Union Station, which was the hub of our transportation. The apartment is just as shown in the listing. Very colorful, cute and has everything you could need. The bed is super comfy. The shower is great! Washer and dryer allowed us to pack light. Jamie responded very quickly to any questions we had. Very satisfied. Would stay here again.

The Perfect Place

We loved this urban sanctuary. It was scrupulously clean and well appointed. Jamie provided a lot of extra touches one wouldn’t normally expect, which made things easier (laundry soap, dishwasher pods, paper towels, tp, etc.). The apartment is beautifully furnished and decorated, and so comfortable. It’s also very conveniently situated to so many kinds of transportation. We got everywhere we needed to go very easily, and we loved having a comfortable, spacious retreat to return to in the evenings.

The perfect location for a DC Experience

This property is a beautiful safe space to explore DC. We received a wonderful welcome with a nice card and bottle of Prosecco to celebrate my granddaughter's college graduation upon arrival. Jamie was a pleasure to work with and provided an immediate response when the housekeeper forgot to leave the keys in the lockbox. Within minutes she had us in the unit and then personally delivered a set of keys to us!! Highly recommend!

DC museums & monuments

This is a GREAT place to stay. Very clean, convenient, stylish and comfortable. It was perfect for the two of us but it could accommodate a family of four just as comfortably. We walked everywhere. There are grocery stores and restaurants nearby and the Union Station metro station is a few blocks down the street. If you are there on the weekend don't miss the Eastern Market. Our host was welcoming and very helpful in planning our activities. We saw some things that we would not have known about without her suggestions. I highly recommend this place for your trip to DC. We will stay here again when we return.

Sanctuary in the City

Cozy yet comfortable, this “Urban Sanctuary” is the perfect home away from home for a Washington DC visitor, with a rich and elegant décor and all the right touches. The apartment is clean, relatively quiet (some minor noise from the upstairs stairs but none from the street) and secure. The queen-size bed and sofa bed provided were comfortable and the modern bathroom well-appointed and roomy despite the limited space. Perfect for a small party or couple! Having a washer and drier was a Godsend for museum trekkers in the high humidity of summer Washington. Although there is no dedicated space for dining other than a counter, the kitchen is well-stocked and there are tons of places to eat in the area. (Our favorite of the visit was the “pricey-but-worth- it” NoPa Kitchen across from the Portrait Gallery.) This is a basement apartment, like most of those available in the area, with a steep stairwell access and limited illumination. The owner was very responsive to both our questions and request for replacement light bulbs. She also alerted me quickly of an unexpected parking ban on the street, which allowed me to move my permitted car to a safer locale. My sister walks with a cane, so most of our travels in the city were via Lyft – which is both very quick to respond and very reasonable in comparison with a taxi. For the more mobile, you can head south to Eastern Market on foot, bicycle or bus though it is a fairly long distance; I bought groceries at Trader Joe’s there and enjoyed the weekend market. Or walk due west to busy Union Station with its many shops, train lines, and metro station. Or head several blocks north to H Street which boasts a Whole Foods, a trolley running to Union Station, and some very good restaurants including Farmbird. I would not hesitate to recommend this apartment for a Washington visit – enjoy!

Three Nights in Late October...

I selected this apartment for a long weekend in DC based on the fact that it looked newly renovated in the photos and the excellent reviews on VRBO of the owner/manager. Jamie was a pleasure to work with from my initial inquiries and throughout the process. She always responded very promptly to every email. The apartment was exactly as I expected from the photos. It is modern and clean and has all the amenities necessary for a comfortable stay for two people. The location is a charming, quiet neighborhood that is close to many attractions. I felt safe walking home at night. Jamie provided a parking permit and we were able to park our car directly in front of the apartment during our stay. The outside stairway going to the entrance of the unit is a little narrow and steep, but manageable. Overall, I thought the property was great. We did have a few issues during our stay. When we arrived there were a number of mosquitoes in the apartment. It was unusually warm for the last weekend in October and apparently the cleaning person had left the door open while cleaning. So we spent the first hour killing mosquitoes. And yes, I did get some bites. There were also a lot of gnats swarming around the front door, so Jamie hung some fly paper in the stairwell. Because it was so warm we needed to use the A/C, which is a wall unit in the living area. First when trying to turn it on with it's remote, we discovered the batteries were dead. Jamie brought us some new ones right away. It was a little tricky to regulate the temperature and the unit was pretty loud. Our biggest complaint was the fact that the shower had very low water pressure and the hot water did not last long enough to take a full shower. For this reason I would not return to this property. The final issue we had was that on the morning of our departure, the power went out. This is a basement apartment and the only full size window is in the bedroom. It was extremely stressful, fumbling around with our phone flashlights, trying to get ready, pack and clean up in the dark. Jamie said it was a neighborhood outage, but none the less, it sucked. So, many positives about Jamie and this apartment, but I guess no place is perfect.

Great place and a Great Location

Jamie was a fantastic host! She checked in on us and even brought us some snacks! The apartment was newly remodeled and well put together. We stayed for 7 days while exploring DC. 2 blocks to the “H street Streetcar” that was free and only 3 stops to Union station where you can get anywhere. Also an easy address for Uber drivers to find.
