Cabin was nice and clean and gave a real rustic camp feel. My only negatives were seemed like the property was lacking in maintenance and driveway at bottom needs to be addressed with the holes. Also road in is a little treacherous but it’s up in the hills so I guess that is to be expected. Overall was a comfortable and quiet retreat.

We enjoyed our little getaway here. It was cozy, quiet, and just what we needed to disconnect for a few days. The host was kind and provided helpful information before and during our trip.

This is an unexpected magical gem of a cabin. The creek, the firepit area, the porch fireplace, the cute touches inside - what a lovely place! It's a no-frills kind of place, but it has everything you need to feel cozy and at home in the woods.

The cabin was welcoming and comfortable. The outdoor area was fun even though it was too warm for the fire pit, we enjoyed sitting outside. And we did meet Stella, the neighbor dog. She was very sweet even if we didn't feed her... :) She showed us the path to the creek.

Amazing! The cabin and the location were exactly what we were looking for. The cabin was cozy, clean and quiet. The location is completely private, we hiked, and sat outside the whole time and did not see a single person! We had a rainy day and were able to use the outdoor fireplace, there is nothing quite like sitting on a porch listening to rain while sitting in front of a fire. We hope to be back next Spring!

Excellent location close to attractions in a private setting with lovely nature views too! We loved the quaint cabin that was full of charm and character! Highly recommended for small families/small groups looking to get away for a few days! The trail & creek on the property were an added bonus for us!

Charming Cabin

I stayed at the Big Dipper for 5 days . The cabin was adorable and comfortable. I especially loved the outdoor fire pit, hammock and walking down on the private trail to the creek.

What a great camp! The hostess was very communicative throughout our stay, the cabin was so adorable, clean, and cozy. We were able to bring our 2 dogs with us which was an added bonus. It is very private and it felt like we were in a treehouse. Went on a hike in the national forest which borders the property and found a beautiful waterfall. Great time. So relaxing!

Quiet little cabin

Great little cabin for a couple! It was big enough to not feel cramped but cozy enough to get away and relax. We didn’t spend enough time here with all the activities in the area available - Amicalola Falls, Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, White Water Rafting near Bryson City, SC. Next time we will plan a day of no activities to enjoy more of what the cabin had to offer.

Down time getaway

We had a great stay at Camp Away. Getting in touch with the property manager was a breeze. The cabin was neat and clean and perfect for my husband and I to get away and spend time together. I only have positive things to say. I will add that the cabin is 30 minutes away from anything to do or eat. We knew this when booking. The road there is a little rough but expect that in the mountains. I would recommend getting there before night fall. The property is great for a romantic trip or even a family trip.

From the very first inquiry, Krista was incredibly helpful and easy to work with. The cabin did not disappoint and offered an amazing sense of detachment from the outside world. As a host, Krista has you covered from everything you might possibly need while away from paper towels in the kitchen, toiletries in the bathroom to flashlights, a cooler, picnic basket, dog collar (just in case you maybe just misplaced it for a few moments) and bowls. Honestly, the only thing you really need to have when you check in is food for the first night. I was NOT an experienced mountain driver so I was NOT going back down the mountain that night! I did not make it down to the stream, but it was not without encouragement from Krista. Instead, she helped me find another hike that I felt more comfortable with. There are plenty of things to do and places to visit within an hour from the cabin, or you can just do nothing at all. Beautiful property to just get away from it all and reset, if that is what you need.

Renew your soul in this comfy cabin

Shinrin-yoku is a form of meditative hiking, and evidence of its benefits is so compelling that writing a prescription for the practice has become standard in Japan. If you want to write an Rx for yourself, make it for The Camp Away! The cabins’ setting is so perfect for R&R that you will not want to go anywhere else. Stock up on groceries, swing by R&A Orchard, then head on over! It’s a little off the beaten path but driving instructions are easy to follow. A bonus of being away from crowded towns is the breathtaking number of visible stars in the sky. And by day, you can take the easy walk down to the creek (a walking stick or trekking pole is recommended) and lose yourself in the forest. You have a porch and a balcony from which to enjoy the view, soak in the sun or feel the breeze. The cabin itself is welcoming and cozy, with charming personality and attention to detail. Despite being away from it all, the wi-fi and TV streaming worked just fine. We cooked all our meals in the kitchen and even enjoyed clean up - the tree view from the kitchen window was positively delightful. This is a perfect getaway and little adventure for couples or families and we will definitely be back

We absolutely loved it here. The creek was fun to walk to and play in. The fire pit was nice to cook on. The kids loved the record player and popcorn maker were major hits! The location is very remote, but it was such a beautiful area and the space is beautiful.
