Wonderful stay

The McMillan's were great hosts! The house was well furnished with lots of dishes, soap, shampoo, lots of extra linens. My family particularly enjoyed the basement with a pool table. Was a great place to enjoy family. There's nature trails close by. We would definitely be happy to go back. It was also very clean...

pleased with the house and layout

we were thrilled with this opportunity while we were there. would love to return if something is done about the driveway. was quite a strain to get out of the steep driveway — for the front wheel drive suvs... precipitation leaves mud — transmissions were quite stressed with the slope. suggested the need to put a cement slab for tires to grip at the top but no response or explanation.

The place is beautiful, plenty of room. Deer friendly. Cool, nice break from the heat and humidity of eastern NC. The owners were kind and accommodating. Highly recommend.

GREAT VACATION HOME

The property is even better than advertised. Such care has gone into making sure the guests have everything they could possibly need. By far this has been my best VRBO experience. Highly recommend.

Christmas in the Woods

We had a remarkable stay here celebrating Christmas with our children. The place was immaculate and it was great waking up and seeing deer out the window. The home was decorated with a beautiful Christmas tree and decorations. We made wonderful memories here, playing games, enjoying meals, and just being together.

Great mountain getaway

I was extremely pleased with this property. I visited with 7 other family members for a birthday celebration. The house was spacious with a wonderful wraparound deck and lots of windows. The space is well furnished if a bit dated, but that’s just part of its charm. The pool table downstairs was a nice plus. Everything was tidy and organized with plenty of extra linens, towels, etc. My only complaint would be that the internet/Wi-Fi was a bit spotty, but in my opinion if you’re spending a lot of time on the internet while you’re here you’re doing something wrong. Thanks for the great weekend.

Mountain getaway

We enjoyed our stay, the only suggestion is to put handrails going down to basement area and a light switch at top of the stairs leading to the basement. Very peaceful, lot of deer activity. If you are looking for peace and quiet this is for you. How ever keep in mind if you are looking to have activities you will need to travel to Asheville.

Super cute cabin escape

Very cute and spacious cabin, plenty of room for the 8 of us, stocked with dishes, towels, sheets, and blankets. The instructions and communication were timely and clear, and the area is absolutely adorable and felt very safe.

Laid back friends weekend

The house was overall very clean. The beds were comfy and they accommodated all 7 adults, 1 preteen and 1 year old very nicely. The kitchen had every amenity you needed for a comfy stay. We really enjoyed the basement as a hang out spot away from the rest of the house. The wifi was spotty at times but otherwise it worked for our needs. There were a couple nature/hiking trails nearby. The pool was very chilly but a good size and conveniently located. I would definitely stay again!

Just Perfect

I’m honestly a little remiss to leave this review because I’d like to keep this hidden gem… well, hidden, but Steve’s home deserves endless praise. From the crisp, clean towels to the spotless grill with extra propane, the attention to detail blew us away. Thank you, Steve, for the perfect setting for our little family reunion.

Lovely House

The house was perfect, very clean and has everything you need, even a pantry with food that we were free to use. The only thing I didn't like was that it was a bit far from where we wanted to go, which are the Brevard waterfalls, but that was my fault Because I didn't realize the distances when I booked, but if you plan to just stay in the cabin to rest, believe me it has everything you need, board games, Netflix, pool table and music and many more things.

We get together annually to recharge and relax for a weekend. We played board games, hiked the AT at Max patch and just got some needed rest.

Most memorable Christmas family vacation EVER!!!!

The owners Steve and Mary were the most gracious, kind and helpful couple I have ever encountered when renting. The cabin was beautiful and fully stocked. We only needed our own food and clothes, everything else was readily available in the cabin. It snowed the first night we were there, so the kids were able to use the sleds the next morning that Steve and Mary had provided at the cabin/ They even met us at the gate and then took all of our belongings down once we got to the cabin the first night. Since we had 2 wheel drive vehicles, There were deer in the morning and evenings walking on the property. It was an amazing experience for all of us. One we will always remember for a very long time. The cabin also had a game room with a pool table. It was great since our grandson is learning to play. We all had a chance to play with him which was a lot of fun. We want to thank Steve and Mary for an amazing vacation.

Very Nice House

It was a beautiful house on top of a beautiful mountain. Had some trouble getting out of the driveway after a hurricane and snow but the owner was wonderful! He came and helped get the car up the hill. He was so nice about it too!

Wonderful Hosts

The whole process from start to end was wonderful. The owners called and said that they’d leave the lights on for us because we were arriving pretty late at night. I called them the next day to see if we could park somewhere else because we had an issue getting our vehicle up the hill back to the main road and she gave me several options! Will definitely go back soon!!

Fall Getaway

Our family found this awesome cabin the perfect setting for our fall getaway to Asheville to take in a UNC Asheville soccer game and celebrate my grandson's birthday. The house was exactly what we expected and more! There was plenty of room for all 9 of us and we appreciated the owners letting us bring 3 of our 4 legged family members. The cabin setting was gorgeous with the fall colors. Wish we could have stayed longer. Definitely will stay again if we have another trip to the area.

Family Mountain Trip

Our family came to the mountains for a family birthday celebration. The house is exactly as described in the listing. Every detail and amenity was thoughtfully provided. We enjoyed the location on the mountain and the many deer on the property. Wolf Laurel is friendly and we were invited to a fish fry and an art festival when we arrived to check in. We loved the property and look forward to staying again.

Beautiful and Comfortable House in the Mountains

We were very happy with the spacious house, the neighborhood, and the ease of communication with the owners. The mountain roads were easy to drive--no hairpin turns! We will go back again if the opportunity arises.

We. Wanted a mountain getaway from Florida heat that would meet three families desires.

Great communication with owner! I asked a bunch of questions, probably too many. We had three families with very different desires and needs. You do need an SUV to navigate the driveway. Clean and filled with culinary tools! Cell phone operation and internet bandwidth is very spotty. No live tv but Netflix was nice.we needed flexible entry and departure time and Steve was most accommodating. Pool temperature didn’t get above 73 degrees so Floridians be advised. My husband swam laps ever day. ( he’s military- what can I say)

Mountain family fun

The property was exactly as shown in pictures. The owners provided so many extras - a pantry full of spices, paper plates, food staples, paper products, first aid supplies, Shampoo, body wash -- Then there was a huge chest full of games! Pool table, darts. A huge closet with extra towels, blankets, pillows, floor mats, beach towels... they thought of everything. Kept us from having to go down the mountain for things we'd forgotten. The pool access was great- the fishing pont great fun for grandkids. Pickle ball court....Does it sound great? It was. * Driveway steep downhill. It rained one night and getting up took a couple tries. The 4 wheel drive went straight up with no problem. But hey, its a mountain.
