General Retreat - near Historic Downtown Ringgold, GA

Welcome to General Retreat! You and your family will thoroughly enjoy your stay here. It's in a nice and peaceful area, centrally located right outside historic Ringgold, GA, near the TN state line. You will be within driving distance of many cities in our area. Just 25 minutes from downtown Chattanooga, the Scenic City! This small home is very cozy and comfortable for your family. If you love history, this is a must-visit stay. The General War Monument is just across the street from this home.

The property received its name because it is adjacent to the railroad monument called the "General". This is a historic area, and the Civil War monument was placed there to tell the story of the locomotive that was captured, fled, and retreated at this very spot (see pictures). It's a fantastic place to stay, especially if you're coming to visit our local Civil War Park, the Chickamauga Battlefield. However, with all that said, there is still an active railroad track across the two-lane street from the property, and occasionally, trains pass by. They can be and are typically noticeable and loud. If this might be a problem, please consider it before making a reservation.

** Absolutely NO parties or events. Children under the age of 5 must be supervised at all times, as our home is not baby or toddler-proof, and a step-down area goes into the sunroom/laundry. Absolutely NO smoking or vaping anywhere on the property, inside or outside. One pet is allowed, but a $100 fee is required to cover the cost of liability and specialized cleaning. Any unannounced pets will still incur a fee equal to or more than stated above, depending on the situation.

** Note - We have outdoor security cameras, but we respect your privacy, and none are indoors.
** Violation of any of our rules will lead to revoking your stay and forfeiting any/all funds. Anyone breaking the smoking policy will be charged a $500 fee.

Our home is a single-level site-built home with central heating and air conditioning. There are several steps that lead into the home, and a step-down that goes into the laundry with open access. It has approximately 900 sq ft of finished, heated living space.

The home features a full kitchen with stainless appliances, a fridge, a microwave, a Keurig-style coffee maker with coffee provided, a dishwasher, and plenty of counter space and cabinets. While we don't have a large dining area, we do have a very small table in the kitchen with 2 chairs. The kitchen is open directly to the living room, so you never feel disconnected.
**PLEASE keep food cleaned up and stored away in the appropriate areas. Some of our past guests have failed to do this, and over time, this will attract unwanted visitors.

The cozy living room features a large flat-screen with Fire TV and a large sofa and loveseat. We provide fast and free Wi-Fi Internet access strong enough to stream a couple of TVs with no problem, so you can log into your own Netflix or other accounts without a problem.

There is also a sunroom/laundry just outside the kitchen area.

The primary bedroom has a comfy queen bed, a clothes rack, and a 40" TV with a Fire Stick available.

The Comic/Movie bedroom is directly adjacent to the primary and features a typical full-size bed, closet space, and a 32" TV with Fire Stick as well.

The fully updated bathroom has tile floors with a beautiful tiled shower. The home is furnished with a tankless water heater, which provides hot water throughout the home. ***Please note that the tankless water heater can only provide hot water efficiently when being used properly. When taking a shower, do not have any other appliances running that use hot water (e.g., the washer or dishwasher). In the winter, this is especially required as extreme cold temperatures can and will affect its performance.

The home has been recently updated with new paint, freshly conditioned hardwood floors throughout, and mostly new furniture. This includes a new queen bed, nightstands, countertops, TVs, a standup shower, and much more.
