Wonderfully peaceful rural location, completely secluded and surrounded by woodland and farmland. Beautifully maintained gardens and pool. The property has been restored, furnished and decorated with great care and feels more like a well-loved country home than simply a holiday cottage. Great communications with owner Susan and the on-site team (thanks to Emanuela for all her help) before and during our stay.No air conditioning in the main house but during our stay temperatures were pushing 40C and we were able or keep cool by managing windows and shutters as advised. (The separate pool house does have air conditioning.)Wifi worked through the property (pretty much no mobile signal though).Despite the rural location we were not troubled by insects/mosquitos either inside or outside. In any case, there are screens on windows and doors which allow for good ventilation without insect ingress.Best holiday home we have ever visited.

Spent two fabulous weeks at Villa Tripoli. Beautiful villa, amazing grounds, very peaceful and close to many places to visit. Would highly recommend and definitely plan to go back!

We truly loved our stay at Villa Tripoli. Everything was simply perfect.Communication with Susan was smooth and easy from start to finish. Upon arrival, we were immediately amazed by the location. The villa is peaceful, secluded and surrounded by nature, yet only a few minutes from the charming villages.The villa itself is exceptional. The kitchen is fully equipped, the living room with its vaulted ceiling is beautiful, the bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, and the bathrooms are equally generous. The quality of the furnishings and décor is outstanding throughout.The cottage is a wonderful addition. Facing the pool, its terrace is the perfect place to enjoy a drink while watching the sunset. The grounds are vast, beautifully maintained and filled with olive trees and flowers. And the swimming pool is incredible !The location is ideal for exploring the region, with excellent wineries nearby and many beautiful villages and historic towns to discover.Reliable internet in both the villa and the cottage is a great advantage. Having someone personally welcome you on arrival and remain available throughout your stay is also a real plus.We spent two wonderful weeks at Villa Tripoli, and our only regret is not having booked a full month. Few places make you wish you could stay longer, but this is certainly one of them.A true haven of peace. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful two weeks at this fantastic house. Lovely location, beautiful garden and great (and large) pool. The house(s) was equipped to a very high standard and extremely comfortable and spacious. Bedrooms were light and airy with high quality linen and towels. Bathrooms were very clean with very good showers and baths.

Great family vacation spot!

It was perfect for our family trip that included 8 of us from 3 years old to 75. Tons to do in the area. The Villa is perfect for relaxation whether around the pool or in the shade of the portico. Even my gourmet cooking brother in law found everything he needed in the kitchen.

Wonderful Italian Vila

Vila Tripoli was outstanding in every respect. A beautiful house wonderfully decorated, a lovely property in a quiet location in the countryside, yet only 20 minutes from Orvieto (my new favorite Italian city) and an owner and caretaker with a wealth of suggestions on restaurants, great stores and fun things to do. Umbria/Orvieto is quieter than Tuscany but outstanding for a true Italian experience with fewer tourists. We had an incredible two weeks.

An Italian Oasis

We are so grateful to have found this stunning retreat in the heart of Umbria for our family celebration with four generations! The villa was comfortable, spacious, incredibly well-equipped, and situated so beautifully alongside the pool and amongst the trees. We took full advantage of both the indoor and outdoor dining areas for our family dinners, and are indebted to Susan for her many, many local recommendations. We would have been lost without her! Highly recommend for any group looking to relax in the tranquility of the Italian countryside.

Treat yourself, friends and family to a beautiful stay in Umbria

Just spent a week here with family, including 2 teen grandchildren who stayed in the cottage by the pool. A great location for exploring hill towns of Umbria & Southern Tuscany and only 10 minutes to Orvieto train for commute to Rome for day trips. Rome hot in July…House had cool night breeze. House is wonderfully decorated and comfortable with beautifully maintained gardens and the kitchen is well stocked for all cooking needs. Have previously rented houses in Italy and France …The owner’s (Susan) pre-trip warm helpfulness plus activity and restaurant suggestions were by far the best and most detailed.

Perfect home

This is a beautiful home in the countryside for a family to create memories. There is plenty of space for everyone. Four large bedrooms and bathrooms on the upper level. A well-equipped kitchen, dining, living room and laundry on lower level. The home is decorated with many treasures from global travel. The cottage by the pool is lovely for a break from the sun during the afternoon. The gardens are beautiful!We enjoyed the convenience of day trips on some days to local villages and then returning to enjoy the pool. A few days we didn't leave the property, but instead just enjoyed it. We cooked meals in and ate on the portico. Communication with the host was always prompt, answering all questions. The home and property are well cared for. Highly recommend!

Beauty and Laughter

The property is beautiful, overlooking the Italian countryside. The stone villa, pool, flowers, herb garden, olive grove and fruit trees gave the perfect setting. We had 10 friends and family, 7 of our kids in their early 20s, and the rest of us old friends. We loved having the space to cook huge family meals and dine in the lovely villa or in the outdoor spaces. We bought fresh pasta from the pasta shop in Orvieto that was recommended by the host and also went to the Saturday morning farmers market to buy produce and all made the meals more special. We loved the recommendations by the host that really enhanced our experience. Especially the four hour lunch at La Locanda di Colle Ombroso, Janis. It was amazing! We also loved the wine, cheese and charcuterie tasting a the winery Madonna Dei Latte, and goat cheese tasting at Fattoria Il Secondo. We went to the Porano Pizzeria Claudio, several times and loved the waiter, Francesco and all their staff. The little town of Porano cannot be more charming, there was a music festival while we were there on June 27th-30th. It was so much fun. The people could not be more friendly. We did even have a friend come into town on the train late at night and was able to take a taxi to the villa! We were not sure this would work, but it is good to know it is an option. Many of our kids extended their stay with us because they loved it so much. This place was magical for us all and not a bad moment. It was nice to be able to relax

Helt fantastiskt boende

Detta hus i Umbrien är helt fantastiskt! Vi har hyrt hus på många ställen i Italien och detta är det absolut bästa på alla sätt, smakfullt inredda rum och med en alldeles magisk trädgård. Susan är också en mycket trevlig & bra hyresvärd som är enkel att kommunicera med och ger väldigt detaljerad information om både hus och vad som finns i närområdet. Vi längtar redan efter att återvända hit!

Un vrai paradis ! Si vous rêvez d’un séjour dans une magnifique demeure, décorée avec beaucoup de goût et parfaitement équipée avec une piscine permettant de nager et un jardin fabuleux au milieu des arbres fruitiers, des plantes aromatiques et des oliviers, au calme absolu ! Nous avons passé une semaine parfaite et notre seul regret est de n’être pas resté plus longtemps. Susan et Emanuela sont au petit soin et vous accompagnerons pour que votre séjour se passe le mieux possible. Merci pour tout, nous reviendrons c’est certain.

Stilvolles Anwesen in der Natur

Wir hatten eine super abwechslungsreiche Woche in Susans Villa. Das Anwesen ist sehr geräumig und gepflegt; stilvoll eingerichtetes Haus und ein schöner Garten und Pool. Super Betreuung durch Susan und Emanuela vor Ort. Wenn mal etwas nicht funktionierte, waren sie und ihr Team sofort zur Stelle. Gute Tipps für Unternehmungen (Weinprobe, Restaurants etc.). Orvieto (15 Min.) ist einen Besuch wert und auch Rom ist in 1,5 Stunden zu erreichen. Ansonsten sehr ruhige Umgebung. Hitze ist kein Problem, da es viele Schattenplätze gibt und immer ein leichter Wind weht. Wir sind regelmäßige Italien-Urlauber und Susans Haus gehört absolut zu den Top 3 für uns. Umbria at its Best

Von der Buchung bis zum letzten Tag eine der besten Und wertvollsten Erfahrungen die wir in unseren vielzähligen Italien Urlauben erlebt haben ! Der beste Garten ! Der Pool , die großzügigen Räume , die Sauberkeit !! Der Kontakt mit Susan war einmalig … wir hatten einen Menge an Konversationen per Mail . Sie hat mir viel über das Haus erzählt ! Ein großes Dankeschön auch an die Gute Fee Emmanuela .. sie war vor Ort immer für uns da und konnte immer weiterhelfen. Alle Bewertungen die dieses Anwesen hat , sind zu 100 prozentig gerechtfertigt !!!

Idyllic Italian villa in a stunning setting

Villa Tripoli was everything we had hoped for in an Italian villa vacation. The main house, cottage, pool, and grounds are gorgeous inside and out and are all impeccably cared for. Architecture, decor, and artwork from around the world distinguish the villa, while furnishings and old-world finishes make it comfy and cozy. The setting is idyllic, tucked amongst the beautiful rolling Umbrian hills planted with olive trees and hazelnut orchards (which were being harvested during our stay in September). Magnificent Orvieto is a short drive from Villa Tripoli, and we made fun day trips from there to see Civita, Bolsena, Montepulciano and Siena. Susan has outfitted her property with every amenity and all the comforts of home. Her packet of notes was full of invaluable information for logistics, activities, dining, and planning for all of our outings. Shout outs to friendly local Trattoria da Claudio in Porano, Chef Lorenzo’s cooking class in Baschi (amazing and such fun), Dario’s Contrada tour in Siena, and Palazzone wine tasting in Orvieto. Emanuela made us feel very welcome upon arrival at Villa Tripoli, and had our stay been a bit longer, we would definitely have arranged a tour and wine-tasting adventure with her. We will highly recommend Villa Tripoli to family and friends for future travel to Italy!

Wonderful week at a beautiful villa with stunning views

We had the most amazing week at villa Tripoli as a multi generational family who all loved it! The villa is huge and beautifully designed with a separate guest house by the pool. The kitchen is incredibly well equipped and the house very comfortable. The property manager Emanuela was also very friendly and helpful. The owner Susan put us in touch with a local chef called Giulia who came to the house and cooked us a lovely meal I would highly recommend. The high points were definitely the grounds, the house, the pool and the incredible views. The only things to note is the access is a little tricky as it’s down a very bumpy track but this does make it very remote and peaceful. And also we didn’t need to use the pool house to sleep in as we had enough bedrooms in the house but there are no blinds or curtains in there so if you are sleeping there maybe bring some eye masks! We will definitely return!

Beautiful house in unique setting

This house and the setting is beyond your wildest fantasy. It will cater to all your needs whether you are 50+, teenager or toddler. Perfect for two families. The pictures does not even do it justice! The host and her caretaker are very responsive to your every needs. It’s perfect!

A lovely villa in a gorgeous setting

We had an absolutely wonderful vacation at Villa Tripoli. The villa is what everyone hopes an Italian vacation villa will be. The house has all the Italian architectural charm for which one could wish, but also modern utilities. We were delighted to have 5 full bathrooms and modern kitchen appliances. The house is roomy and extremely comfortable. The surrounding countryside is truly lovely. We stayed for 5 weeks and we wish we could have stayed longer. Various family members and friends came and went, and each one arrived with the same initial comment: "Wow! This place is amazing!" There are so many wonderful places to see and things to do in the areas near the villa. We loved Orvieto, Todi, Speleto, Bolsena, Pitigliono, and the smaller, less-touristy hill towns. Susan's "Notes on Villa Tripoli" proved invaluable with recommendations for restaurants, activities, and shopping. We especially liked the family restaurant in Porano, Trattoria and Pizzeria da Claudio, where we dined often and always enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere and the good food. We also liked the Trattoria del Conte on the road to Lake Bolsena. We also had catering done by Simona for several dinners, and those dinners were just terrific. Emanuela, the House Manager when Susan was away, was terrific. She is so friendly and did everything she could to make us feel welcome and comfortable. She is a Certified Tour Guide, and she gave us a great tour of Orvieto and also of Bolsena. She also arranged for other colleagues to give us tours of Palazzo Farnese, Villa Lante, Todi, and Montefalco. All the guides were wonderful. I realize that I am running out of superlatives as I am writing, but I just can't say enough about this very special place. Thank you, Susan and Emanuela! We hope we can be back soon.

College Reunion

We were six close friends coming to Italy for a 50th college reunion where we all met. Before heading to Roma we wanted to relax a bit at a Villa in Umbria. Villa Tripoli exceeded our expectations!! The owner graciously kept the pool open for us, even though it was October! Her numerous recommendations for travel ideas, shopping, in home chefs were excellent. If you rent this villa, take the time to read Susan's Notes on Villa Tripoli. Hopefully we will return!!
