Vi inbjuder dig att bo i vårt historiska Pre Civil War 4 sovrum, 2 badrum hemma, beläget med gångavstånd till restauranger, museer och allt annat som Gettysburg har att erbjuda. Vi har allt för att du ska känna dig som hemma!

Vårt hus har 4 sovrum med drottningssängar och i vardagsrummet finns en drottningssoffa. Den har också 2 fulla bad, ett på övervåningen och ett på nedervåningen. Ett komplett kök och en tvättstuga med tvättmaskin och torktumlare, strykjärn och strykbräda. Köket är fullt utrustat med kastruller, stekpannor, tallrikar, koppar, skålar, glas och redskap. Vi levererar också sängkläder och början av pappersprodukter. Fastigheten kommer att vara ren när du anländer, men det finns ingen daglig städning. Därför ber vi med respekt att du underhåller hemmet på ett snyggt och ordnat sätt.

Gettysburg Retreat är ett Gable-hus framför inbördeskriget. Byggt 1853 ägs det ursprungligen av William Steinhour. Steinhour ägde huset fram till 1859, såldes sedan till Henry och Mary Zeigler 1860 och återköpte sedan av William Steinhour 1864. Det köpte senare 1868 av William Z. Lilla och såldes sedan 1872 till James Caldwell. Huset överfördes senare till Lilles arving 1873.

En sak intressant med huset är i de första två kvarterna av West Middle Street. Du hittar flera inbördeskrigshus mot centrala Gettysburg, men när du når The Gettysburg Retreat var huset bredvid det sista huset i stan tills du kommer till Seminary Ridge under inbördeskriget.

Landet som Gettysburg grundades på ägdes ursprungligen av William Penn. Penn skulle senare sälja marken till stadens grundare James Getty. Gettysburg Retreat var den 127: e lotten som tilldelades Getty i utbytet.

Great Retreat!

The house is amazing. Perfectly decorated with an extensive library and dvd collection about Gettysburg and the civil war. The location is great too, easy walking distance to the square. Also, a supermarket right across the street. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Staying in Historic Gettysburg in a house with personality

Property was very clean. It was interesting staying in a property that was there during the civil war. It some ways it was like living in a museum with all the antiques and civil war related reading material.

We stayed twice!

The location is fantastic. Everything in town is within walking distance. We stayed for a week during Thanksgiving, then came back a few weeks later to stay during the Christmas holiday. While we were away Sandee decorated for Christmas which was wonderful. Comminication was easy and quick.

Loved the house.

Loved the house. Location is perfect for us . One suggestion, is to have small separate hooks for hand towels especially for the downstairs bathroom. Overall we just love the house!

Had a great time at the Gettysburg retreat. I would like to thank the owners for letting us stay at their home for the weekend. They were great to work with their home is very accommodating just one block from the center of downtown Gettysburg And all the main attractions. Would recommend staying at the Gettysburg retreat to anyone plan on going back in the spring.

Perfect Location

This is a beautifully historic home. Though it's on a busy corner with a traffic light, there is almost no traffic noise. The house is clean and well equipped with everything people would want on a vacation. The decor is spectacular. People can walk to many of the Gettysburg sites, and a grocery store is across the street.

Fabulous Find in Gettysburg

Stayed 5 days in August. House is charming, very clean, comfy beds, well-equipped kitchen, too. I don’t think we could have found a better location- grocery store across street, walking distance to Square and many restaurants, and very, very close to Battlefield, too. The 4 of us had a wonderful stay! We appreciated the library of books, games,and on-site laundry, too. Tried several of the restaurant recommendations and didn’t have a bad meal. We greatly appreciated all the comfort and convenience our host provided and we highly recommend Gettysburg Retreat. Thank you, Sandee!

The house and location are amazing! The host has thoughtfully decorated every square inch of her property. The kitchen was fully stocked and the selection of videos and games surpassed anything I had ever seen. This is one of the best homes we have ever stayed in! Highly recommend!

Gettysburg Retreat is a Gem

Staying at the Gettysburg Retreat was a perfect fit for our group, (four couples). The house has four bedrooms and two bathrooms and a great kitchen! There was plenty of space for everyone. Everyone's favorite spot was the big kitchen table where we gathered for meals and planning our activities. Our host was terrific and made our stay easy. She was easy to communicate with and responded quickly. With four couples, I had requested additional keys so each couple could come and go easily if they wanted to venture out on their own. The location of the house made walking to uptown attractions easy. There is even a grocery store next door to the house (which came in handy). The Gettysburg Retreat is a gem and would highly recommend it.

From the moment we booked our trip till the moment we left, everything was perfect! Sandee was an excellent host and provided us with all the information we needed. After an afternoon of playing bluegrass music at the circle, we all met back to the house to cool down, have lunch and relax. This is a great house. Very comfortable with great A/C! Fully equipped kitchen. Just get food and drinks at Kennie's Market conveniently across the street.

We purchased the home in 2012 and my husband and I have been remodeling it every since. We are DYI's! It has been fun.

The house is located at 145 West Middle Street in Gettysburg and is within walking distance to downtown Gettysburg. There is a Trolley that runs in Gettysburg that you can ride for a small fee all day and it even goes out to The Gettysburg Visitor's Center and Museum. So you can leave your car at the house and save on gas while you are here!

We own 2 vacation homes now. Lincoln Quarters is located right next door to The Gettysburg Retreat. It is a 3 bedroom 1 bath upstairs apartment.
We have the only 2 of the 3 vacation homes in Gettysburg that are both legally open with all of our permits and licences.
We do have our Certificate of Use and Occupancy from the Gettysburg Borough and we are in Full Compliance with the PMCA

My Husband and I purchased this property because we loved the history behind it and wanted to share with others that love Gettysburg also.

Vad som gör detta boende unikt

The Gettysburg Retreat is a pre-Civil War 2 story Gable front house. Built in 1853 it was originally owned by William Steinhour. Steinhour owned the house until 1859, then sold to Henry and Mary Zeigler in 1860, then repurchased by William Steinhour in 1864. It was later bought in 1868 by William Z. Little and then sold in 1872 to James Caldwell. The house was later passed down to Little's heir in 1873.

One thing interesting about the house, is in the first 2 blocks of West Middle Street. You will find several Civil War houses towards downtown Gettysburg, but as you reach The Gettysburg Retreat, the house beside it was the last house in town until you get to Seminary Ridge during the Civil War.

The land Gettysburg was founded on was originally owned by William Penn. Penn would later sell the land to town founder James Getty. The Gettysburg Retreat was the 127th lot of land allocated to Getty in the exchange.
