THE ROADS
This is a true mountain getaway, and part of the experience includes the road up to the cabin! The road to get up here can be intimidating for the first time (and maybe the second and third time too). While it is paved, there are steep switchbacks and climbs - this is a serious mountain road!
That said, a variety of vehicles including coupes, sedans, minivans, and SUVs (not all of them AWD) have successfully navigated the road. The view is worth it!
Every local who visits expresses some variation of the same sentiment: "Wow. I have NEVER been up this high or seen a view this impressive. I live here and the Smokies all start to look like business as usual after a while. This? Is spectacular." And it truly is!
AWD is recommended during icy conditions and snow. It rarely snows, but when it does, the sale and plow trucks are usually great at clearing the roads quickly since the ski resort is up here.
THE STAIRS
All three levels are accessed by a single, wooden spiral staircase.
THE KING LOFT
The largest and most spectacular bedroom is on the third floor, and it is a full-level loft. There is no door, and it is accessed by the spiral staircase, opening up to below.
There is ample space to accommodate a family of four up here with the king bed and twin bunk.
Please note there are no curtains on this level, and since the entire back of the cabin is made of glass, the. sun will greet you at dawn! While this can be a great way to start the day, this is not the bedroom for those wishing to sleep behind blackout curtains. (There are curtains in front of the loft for privacy.)
There are two queen bedrooms on the lower level, each with its own private bathroom.
THE BEARS
This mountain is home to lots of bears, so they can be found all over.
THE OTHER THINGS
Perishable items featured in photos (ie. fresh fruit, cookies, etc.) are for staging purposes only and are not setup for each stay.
Linens, décor, furnishing, and other household items may vary from the photos, as things naturally wear out and are replaced over time.
