Cozy 2-Story Cabin on Pond with Dock on a Spacious Homestead Retreat
Welcome to FlyAway Retreat! Nestled in the trees along the country roads outside city limits yet only 15 minutes from downtown Canton. This secluded cabin on our 65 acre property is a well appointed 1 bedroom, 1 bath, loft style cabin featuring two queen beds in the upstairs loft, a twin over twin trundle daybed in the living room along with a clawfoot tub full bath off the kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped with oven, range, full sized refrigerator/freezer, microwave, toaster and Keurig coffee maker. The living area offers a 3D massage chair, wall mounted television, and a leather sofa. You will want to relax on the covered front porch and enjoy the serenity of the country atmosphere and the pond only steps away. A few more feet away is the covered dock where you can take in the country woods, feed the ducks and fish, or just enjoy a cup of coffee on the outdoor sofa and chairs.
The cabin shares the property with our main house and family so we are here if something comes up but you will have plenty of space to yourselves.
Along with the secluded wooded setting, we have lots of animals and livestock running around. The ducks will be checking in on you, we have several Great Pyrenees dogs that take care of the property and we have several dozen chickens, roosters and turkeys roaming the yard. Across the pond - and maybe right over the fence behind the cabin, you'll probably catch sight of our miniature sheep, donkeys and horses. They are very friendly and are always happy to take any extra carrots or apples off your hands! We often have a quiet experience here broken up from time to time with the sounds of roosters, donkeys or the ranch dogs keeping the predators away. If you're looking for the sounds of country life, you're coming to the right place.
Our pond is fully stocked so bring your fishing gear and enjoy the private fishing grounds!
Things to know:
-Parking is on a designated spot off the main driveway with about a 250ft walk to the cabin. It's mostly level ground with the last 200ft being a paved path.
-The cabin and property is not ADA / elderly friendly.
-No pets
-Be prepared for animal and wildlife noises. You will hear chickens, roosters, dogs and possibly the occasional coyote and the donkeys braying, It's their way of saying hello or alerting of predators.

We're a large Texas family - and 6th generation Texans to boot! - who love the wide open country of Texas. We recently moved to East Texas and found this large quiet piece of land where we can spread out in quiet and privacy. We love animals and have a herd of donkeys, horses, turkeys, chickens, ducks, cats and dogs, miniature sheep (and a small herd of kids).
Our family loves it out here for the views, the trees, the solitude and being immersed in country life with nature. The trees are never-ending and the sounds of the breeze and the way the light cuts through the trees provides an unmatched serenity.
We love hosting out here because it provides an incredible get away experience from the traffic, noise, stress and drama of city life. We are big fans of "free range kids" and also to try to live that way ourselves. We like the open quiet spaces where we can enjoy the large pond, the open pastures, the dense woods, and rolling terrain. Our animals largely roam free and they provide more life and energy to the experience.
We enjoy sharing our property with guests so they too can disconnect and get away and connect with what brings them joy and laughter.
Out here, we almost promise you'll hear kids running around, chickens chasing food, donkeys braying for attention, dogs alerting and an old diesel tractor firing up but we doubt highly you'll hear a door slam, a car horn, a car engine or a phone ring.
