This charming retreat is just 10 minutes to downtown, 20 minutes to the beaches and close to everything the area has to offer. Capt.'s Cottage is a cozy, small home that's equipped with a washer/dryer, streaming TV's, comfy bedding and full kitchen to make your stay comfortable. Guests love the large, private patio and yard for unwinding and relaxing. Wether you're here for a concert, wedding, weekend getaway, or just exploring, you'll love Capt.'s Cottage.

Cottage was very clean and cozy. On a nice street not too far from stuff you might want to do. Great hot tub out back that’s taken care of and wonderful bathroom. Host was very nice and responded to any questions very quickly. 10/10 would stay again.

This cottage is small but really a great place to stay. This is the second time my wife and I stayed here. It's a short drive to the beach. The place is very private and the hot tube is great to relax in. We will be booking this place again.

Everything was great and as described! Host was responsive.The only thing I was surprised about was that it was not in fact very close to the beach/seashore—a 30 min drive away. But otherwise, everything was wonderful! thank you!

At first we were disappointed but the owners contacted us and fixed the issue right away which made us feel more confident we had chosen the best option for our anniversary we brought other issues and the owner was unaware of them I believe they were sincere about not knowing about them and as a property manager how hard it is to find good responsible employees that will look after your property but like I said after speaking directly with the owner he told me how thankful he was for reporting the issue and he got right on getting it resolved and I would stay there again for sure

Perfect getaway as the host was outstanding and the cottage was close to perfect. It was so comfortable and the hosts have put so much attention into the things that make a stay away from home so enjoyable. Their suggestions for restaurants and sightseeing were well thought out and we enjoyed our time in Wilmington. We stay at a lot of VRBO accommodations and this one exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend!

Varför värden valde detta boende

Sunset Park is Wilmington's oldest neighborhood and it's got a unique character all its own. The neighborhood is located about 10 minutes to downtown Wilmington and about 20 minutes to Carolina and Wrightsville Beaches and about 30 to Kure Beach, so it's centrally located to all of the great amenities in the area and pretty easy to get around from the cottage. Lots of good restaurants are located within a few minutes of us, too.

Vad som gör detta boende unikt

Located in historic Sunset Park in beautiful Wilmington, North Carolina, the cottage started its life in the early 1940's as a single room fishing shack that was constructed on the north end of Carolina Beach, about 20 minutes away. Years later the house was moved to its current location and a small addition and bathroom were added making the house a grand total of 600 sq ft (tiny house living at it's best!). Eventually the house became home to WM Register, a tug boat captain that worked his days on the Cape Fear River, and his wife, Gladys, hence the name Capt.'s Cottage.

This little house has lots of character in a small space and it's the very last of the old fishing shacks that dotted the NC coast a hundred years ago when the only way to reach Carolina Beach was by train from the "mainland of Wilmington.
