We were four female surfers coming from Costa Rica, Panama, California, and Boston and meeting up in El Salvador. We loved the house and the surf break. We were able to make great meals and eat at the large table, overlooking the break. We also enjoyed hanging out post surf, in the pool, and watching the waves. Doug was attentive and communicative. Leo, the caretaker, was phenomonally helpful. It is a special spot for surf group looking to make memories.

Best view of the surf in the area. Private access to surf zone. Solid AC in each room. Pool was great. Host and caretaker are both very effective. Highly recommended if going to K59.

My family and I had an amazing time at this property. The AC in the rooms was great as it allowed my children to have cooler downtime. The pool was also great as the kids wanted to swim and sometimes the ocean did not cooperate. Leo, the groundskeeper, was helpful, knowledgeable and happy to help in any way he could. We really enjoyed the space that this property provided throughout our stay.

We had an excellent stay at Casa de Karma! Doug was an extremely attentive host, he communicates very well, and organized the logistics of our trip with ease. Leo the caretaker and his staff were wonderful as well. They provided excellent hospitality with meals, transportation, and tended to any needs. The location of the property is all time. With the surf break extremely close by, restaurants and shops within easy walking distance, and beautiful views from the pool/yards of the house. Rooms were spacious and comfortable, AC was always cold to make a comfortable climate. Highly recommend a stay here!

This a perfect place for surfing, close to the beach, great view, nice pool. Located in a very safe private area. There is a caretaker on site, in case one needs anything.Doug was very helpful and addressed our concerns at once. I would highly recommend this location for anyone in the surfing community.

This house is in a perfect location for surfing K59. It overlooks the break and is a beautiful residence. My son and I had plenty of room and the AC rooms were nice after a full day of surfing and being in the sun. Leo, the person who meets you and shows you the property, is a great resource for all the things you may need and want. He was there whenever we needed anything. I highly recommend this property and will be back to stay.

Private Tropical Paradise

Very relaxing and memorable getaway. Walks on the beach and hanging out with the wonderful locals. Even met some of the international surfing enthusiasts that frequent the area.

What a place

Overlooking K59, this is the place to be for waves, tranquility and an overall good time. Doug’s crew took care of us from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Very hospitable, safe and amazing access to the beach. Im still dreaming about Casa de Karma and can’t wait for my next visit.

Best view of K59…even better from the pool with a cocktail. Leo is the best. Douglas (owner) had everything lined up from the airport to the house and really made sure we had an awesome time. Once we were there, we surfed our arms off and had homemade breakfasts and dinners from the outdoor kitchen…pork, chicken, snapper, chorizo and eggs and homemade tortillas waiting for us. We checked out a couple of good breaks nearby and met some awesome people from different parts of the world. Great surf trip for my 19 yo son and me.

Great property and help at the house

The property manager was amazing. So friendly and welcoming. Very proud of the property and ensuring we had everything we needed. House staff was very friendly. 2 cooks and a property attendant, in addition to the manager. They were a part of our trip and my 3 kids loved them!!

We appreciated Doug’s responsiveness before, during and after the trip. We could not have asked for a more helpful, kind, funny property manager. Leo was amazing by assisting us with a flashlight the first night in the dark to find the place, taking us to the caves, playing and including my daughter in beach soccer games, coordinating meals and ideas for meal. I could go on and on about Leo! The views from the place our beautiful and we got to see whales twice. The setting of the home up on the mountain was perfect to give privacy but not too much. While the boys surfed, we swam and it really was such a relaxing trip. The sunrises were gorgeous and you could either walk down to the beach or walk to the edge of the property.

Can’t say enough about this spot. If you’re looking to get fully emerged into the local culture on one of the best surf spots in the area, then this is your spot. Shut off the phones and wax up the boards. Surf all day then mind surf while relaxing in your own private pool right on the cliff or the huge covered back porch while Maria whips you up some amazing comidas locales. This spot is where surf dreams are made into reality!! We will be back again and again and again. Muchas Gracias Douglas and crew!!! We encanta la Casa De Karma.

It doesn't get any better then this when looking to be right on one of the best point breaks in EL Salvador. Doug and his crew were amazing. Just about a 30 second walk down the steps and right onto the beach. Clean pool with a great view. Cold ac in the bedrooms made for some excellent sleep along with the waves rumbling in the background. Nothing better then enjoying some local coffee in the outdoor kitchen watching the waves roll down the point. Pretty much the perfect surf trip setup! We will be back. Thanks again Doug!

The view and patio at this property are absolutely stunning and were the highlight of our stay. Not to mention the location to the break. The outdoor space is beautiful, peaceful, and truly special. The caretaker was also kind, responsive, and so very helpful, which we really appreciated.However, for approximately 200 per night, we expected more attention to basic comfort and amenities. We have traveled extensively throughout Latin America and are very comfortable with simple accommodations, but several issues stood out because we were paying that amount. The interior felt quite outdated, no hot water (it wasn’t exactly hot while we were there), there was only a previously used bar of soap provided, no drinking water available, and very minimal additional amenities. We also noticed there was no mattress protector, which raised cleanliness concerns. This property has incredible potential because the location and outdoor space are truly exceptional, but some updates and better attention to essential guest necessities would greatly improve the experience and better match the price point.

Hello Travis, Thank you for your review and points of improvement. I live in the U.S and was not able to review the property prior to your arrival my deepest apology. The house keepers know to have fresh soaps etc. for each guest a definite short coming on their part that surely will not be repeated. Regarding hot water, the majority of the homes at the beach do not offer hot water, as the water tanks are warmed by the sun throughout the day, although not the temp of a U.S. based water supply. Your point of the mattress cover is a very good point and is being implemented pronto. Regarding extra amenities, I assume you are referring to a Welcoming package with coffee, snacks etc. which is a good recommendation. If I recall we had the basic makings for a breakfast, eggs, tortillas, veggies already supplied in the fridge. Which we do for arriving guests. Best of Travels, Doug

Best Location, Amazing Views,Instant Access Surfing,Incredible Hospitality,Best Cultural Experience

My Family and I had an amazing stay at Casa de Karma. The Care Takers are incredibly friendly and very understanding of our lack of language skills. Maria’s meals that she prepared for us multiple times daily were so tasty and made with special touches. The beach and surf was just a short walk down the stairs and was perfect us as it was friendly, warm and uncrowded. The local kids knew our names by our 2nd day & brought us seafood galore, fresh fish, lobster, oysters (shucked and ready to eat) we were in Pacific Ocean heaven. We felt right at home, safe and incredibly welcome in this very special little neighborhood. We also had an amazing cultural experiences while visiting, as they set up daily tours of the different highlights of the Country, waterfalls, Mayan ruins, volcanoes, zip lining and too much to do on one trip. Perfect beach/surf get-a-way!

Our trip to Casa de Karma was incredible. First and foremost, Doug was an amazing host. He took the time before our trip to talk to us about everything to expect and know starting from the minute we stepped off the plane until arriving at his property. He even hooked us up with a local grocery list of food to buy for our stay on the way to his place. Doug made sure we were never without during our stay from surf destinations to adventures to creature comforts. As well, Doug made it very easy to plan any day trips such as a waterfall tour or surf trip down the coast. When we arrived at his place, we were blown away by the incredible views, not to mention a perfect right point break out front. It was easy to stay at his place all day with access to surf, swimming in his private pool or even just relaxing in the hammock. His property was secure and we felt safe throughout our stay. The A/C in the rooms is also a bonus! Doug employs some amazing local hands who took excellent care of us especially Maria whipping up delicious meals throughout the day. We highly recommend visiting El Salvador if not for the amazing surf then for the incredible culture, people and sites. If you are lucky enough to make the trip you 100% want to stay with Doug at Casa de Karma.
