Renovated large country house (renovated under architecture) with 2 spacious bedrooms with private bathrooms, 2 living rooms and large open kitchen. Terraces and patio overlooking forests & mountains. In the middle of the DĂŁo wine region, in nature on 1 hectare of private land. Shops, amenities and restaurants are within 5 kilometres. Swimming pool for all guests (saltwater, 12 x 4 m) with sun terrace. The accommodation is open all year round and has mosquito nets and air conditioning (heating/cooling). At 150 m2, the villa is very spacious.
Lugar do Pégo has vineyards and wineries Žaround the cornerŽ and borders the ecopista - a 49 km cycle path without any motorised traffic. Mountain bikes can be rented on request in advance. Just 300 metres away is the small river Dinha, well audible with its waterfalls. Further along the Dinha and the river Dão there are river beaches where it is lovely to swim. Overlooking the mountains, surrounded by trees and tranquillity and 21 km from Viseu and 69 km from historic Coimbra, the accommodation offers all possibilities to be active but also to relax. The Caramulo mountain range is 20 minutes away by car and is suitable for hiking, paragliding, abseiling and has a renowned vintage car museum. The Serra de Estrela is an hour's drive away, as is the sea with several fantastic beaches. Furthermore, 15 car minutes away is a thermal spa with various beauty packages and also within 15 minutes a 27-hole golf course.
Viseu is 21 km from Lugar do Pego and can be reached by bike via the ecopista. Coimbra is just 69 km away. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the complex. Towels and bed linen are provided. Free parking is available on site.
Lugar do Pégo is also gastronomically interesting: a few kilometres away is a renowned authentic Portuguese restaurant with Bib Gourmand (TrÚs Pipos), just under 15 kilometres away is the Quinta de Cabriz, also renowned for its wines, and just under 20 kilometres away is the beautiful Quinta (Mesa) de Lemos. Along the way along the ecopista, there are several places to eat and drink.
The oldest part of the villa Lugar do Pego is the 'tower room' (on the 1st floor) which dates back to the late 1800s and has been converted into a very spacious double room with a double box spring, private bathroom and private entrance. In the old ÂŽadegaÂŽ on the ground floor, a large double bedroom with private bathroom has been created. The living/dining room as well as the terrace outside have fantastic mountain views. There is a large well-equipped kitchen and a second sitting room.
Lugar do Pégo is a settlement consisting of several buildings (the villa as described here and a completely separate holiday home that is also rented out some distance away) with their own terraces and entrances. Given the height differences on the quinta and of the terraces which are not all fenced, this accommodation may be less suitable for young children.The pool is not fenced and unguarded, we therefore strongly recommend that guests have a swimming certificate. Stay (including swimming and access to pool) is at your own risk.
There is another (very spacious) bedroom and bathroom in the house. These can also be rented upon request to make the house suitable for 6 people.

Almost 49 km of undisturbed cycling/walking or running track along a paved former railway line. Largely along the river Dão which not only gives beautiful views but also plenty of opportunity for swimming along the way. Banned to motorised traffic is the former railway line between the towns of Santa Comba Dão and Viseu, the ŽLinha do DãoŽ which served for almost a hundred years (25 November 1890 - 25 September 1988), now one of the longest ecopistas. Along the way, it is also good to stop at several old railway stations that serve as restaurants and cafes after renovation. The ecopista forms a perfect place to train for cycling, running, rollerblading or just to take a nice walk or bike ride and swim at a river beach. Lugar do Pégo is ideally located for these activities, it couldn't be closer to the ecopista!
