This is a lovely house filled with light and color and all the welcome of a proper, comfortable family home, not just an anonymous rental. The owners were lovely to deal with and quick to get back to us on any questions we had while we were there as well as while we were booking, and left lots of useful recommendations and instructions at our arrival. Parking was never an issue, and the neighborhood leafy and peaceful yet still with enough local commerce (Tandem Bakery especially) when we did not feel like walking into downtown Portland (about a half hour level walk to the Old Port, though there's plenty on and around Congress Street closer to home). The Saturday farmers' market in Deering Park was a short walk away and well worth a visit- a great opportunity to meet the local growers and return home with armfuls of corn, tomatoes, peaches and blueberries. The kitchen was a pleasure to cook in, the beds were comfy (and we sure did need those cooling units during the heatwave), and the deck and garden outside the kitchen was a great place to have meals- I even loved the little nook at the end of the garden where I could take my coffee and still get a good wifi signal! Because there's so much personal stuff in the house I would hope that every guest would treat that with the appropriate respect- I think it's what makes the house feel so warm and alive.
I have nothing but good things to say about our stay here, and we hope to return again, when it will feel like coming home! Thanks Desi and Sean xxx
