Welcome to our historic farmhouse - a special holiday home with charm and comfort
In a lovingly renovated farmhouse dating back to 1707, we rent out a spacious attic flat that can accommodate 6 to 7 people. The renovation was carried out in 2020 according to building biology guidelines - with great emphasis on healthy materials and the preservation of historical elements.
The flat extends over the second and third floors and combines modern living comfort with the charm of times gone by. Two bedrooms that can be darkened ensure a restful night's sleep. An open-plan kitchen, a cosy living room and a bathroom with shower create a comfortable atmosphere - perfect for a relaxing holiday.
Please note: Due to the largely preserved old room structure, the flat is not barrier-free. The centuries-old doorsteps are part of the authentic character of the house, but require some attention. (especially for tall people) ;-)

As a little break from everyday life, the in-house sauna with colour light therapy can be used for a small extra charge. If you wish, we can also heat up the hot tub in the garden for you to relax in. It is equipped with massage jets and an aerator. (separate tariff / not possible if water is scarce)
Schwellbrunn was voted the most beautiful village in Switzerland by the Swiss population in 2017. In summer, beautiful hiking trails can be explored right on the doorstep. There are plenty of bike trails and e-bike routes in the surrounding area.
The Appenzellerland and the Lake Constance region offer a variety of culinary, sporting and recreational activities. There is something for everyone in the surrounding area. In winter, various snowshoe hiking trails pass close to the house. A cross-country ski trail can also be used day and night.
The farmhouse is located just outside Schwellbrunn on a private road. Direct access to the house is possible and parking spaces are available right next to the flat. The steep road, paved with Ecoraster, is not necessarily recommended for cars with long wheelbase or lowered cars. The nearest bus stop is a 30-minute walk away. By car it is 10 minutes to Herisau and 20 minutes to the city of St.Gallen or Appenzell.
We, the landlords, also live on the property. You are welcome to use all amenities in common. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have about your stay.
