We want our guest to know that the Cozy Cottage is not fancy but comfortable. We stay there from time to time just to check it out. We appreciate repeat guests. We realize that is an honor to be earned and not just expected.

Quaint is a good description of the Cozy Cottage. The best we can tell it started as a two room farm house in the early 1900s. Then it appears that two rooms were added on the back. A well was dug to replace the cistern that is still there and septic system replaced the out house. A basement was dug out after the house had been lived in for many years. We replaced a large carport with the family and laundry rooms on the back. While the floors are laminate we chose Autumn Chestnut with the wide board look as a reminder of the resources in the area when the house "grew up." Obviously, the Cozy Cottage has never had a wealthy master but there have been hours of family and friend fellowship, especially in the years it has served as a vacation rental. It has welcomed international visitors, been the home for wedding and graduation celebrations as well as celebrating or lamenting VT football contests. Sometimes the internet access almost seems like an intruder into a simpler way of life (but we are grateful for it).

Thanks for your review. We took pains in getting pictures on the walls that represent some of our favorite things. One is a photo of an old log barn that stood on a farm down in the valley. So glad I took it since the barn was removed soon afterward. I just hope that it was put back together in a place that it is appreciated. We knew it as "Bax Johnson's Sheep Darn."

So pleased to get your review. We try to make the Cozy Cottage a Vintage Property rather than just an old house. Some of the furnishings are old and some were purchased because of their age. We expect the house to be clean-- we can't do anything about the age. While we live at a distance I'm just a phone call away. Best to you.

I am saddened about your experience at the Cozy Cottage. So far I have ordered a air purifier and am still working on a contractor to correct the water seepage. The wind blows fiercely at times on Blacksburg mountain so we added the cable to keep the furniture there. I should have told you about the key to unlock the cable. I'll work on the purging part and review our rates. Thank you for staying. I hope the new shower worked well and the memory foam mattress provided a good nights' sleep.

Thank you for leaving the Cozy Cottage better than you found it. We deeply regret the series of negative experiences but we are glad we were in town. I've learned that I need our housekeeper back in if there is a long lapse of time between travelers. The old green tub and defective plumbing is already removed and being replaced with a walk-in shower. The pump cut off due to the thunder storm because the circuit breaker protected the pump and the house. I'll need to leave reset instructions but it seems things were working as they should, though inconvenient. We believe the water in the floor came from the very heavy rain fall but we are trying to figure a way to keep that from happening. We have added a canopy over the back entrance. We agree that it is a cute place and we are working to maintain its retro charm for travelers, many of whom have been frequent guests, and our own comfort.
