We come here every year for our knitting group outing

This is a fantastic place to stay with a large group of friends, whether it is super cold and you just want to hang out and enjoy the views from the lodge, or you want to ski or hike the trails or take day tours into the park

Amazing Place

The property is beautiful - secluded and private yet close to everything in Denali. There was plenty of room and space for our large group (from ages 11 months to 60), and the home had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Only wish we could have stayed longer. We will definitely be staying here again if/when we are back to visit Denali.

Alaskan Road Trip 2024

Healy was our second stop. The house was perfect with plenty of room for our large group. We enjoyed visiting the park over 2 days. The bus tour and hikes were highlights of our trip.

An easy 5 mile drive to Denali entrance. Nice, quiet, comfortable accommodations for our group of 4 couples. Would definitely stay here again. Hope to make it back one day.

Great location for everything we wanted to do. Really comfy beds, amazing views, and we saw a mommy moose with her calves, and a wolf! Alaska - still my favourite state!!

Large and comfortable

We had a great stay. The lodge had lots of room for us all. We don’t live in a place where it snows, so coming in fall, with some snow on the ground, made us uneasy, but the drive to the lodge was no problem at all in an AWD minivan.

Beautiful house and close to the park

This house is gorgeous!! We loved our stay here. We stayed for 5 nights and loved all the extra room we had. There were toys for the kids, good movie selections, and room to play games. With only a 10 minute drive to Denali National Park, it made our trip very easy. Thanks for such a wonderful stay!!

Denali/Cruise Trip

Stayed at the cabin for 2 nights to take a day tour into Denali National Park prior to taking a 1 week cruise. Stayed in constant contact with Jessica before our arrival, due to the Denali (Riley Fire). She was extremely kind, helpful and understanding throughout our communication. Her home was warm, inviting and secluded. We had a nice time for the 3 days and 2 nights during our stay at, “Kings Deer Lodge”.

Kings Deer Lodge

This home is so beautiful! It had everything we needed to cook a couple meals. The beds were comfortable. There was plenty of room for all 9 of us. Jessica answered her phone right away and reassured us about the Riley Creek fire which started the day we arrived so we were unable to get into Denali N P. during our stay but still enjoyed a couple of beautiful hikes outside the park. Again, this home was perfect, large, and very comfortable!

Location location location

Perfect location for Denali adventures. The house is surrounded by boreal forest. Wonderful opportunity for the kids to explore and learn. We were able to access the programs at Denali and the flight seeing is around the corner at Denali Airport.

PERFECT LOCATION - MINUTES TO DENALI NATIONAL PARK

We take an annual sister's trip and this year we picked Alaska. This house did not disappoint. It was perfect for our family of 7 adults, with plenty of room to spare. We had a couple of issues during our stay that Jessica IMMEDIATELY addressed. Jessica stayed in constant contact with us, which we greatly appreciated. The best part as far as I am concerned was that there was a mama moose with two calves right on the property. It was an amazing sight, and one I will never forget.

Out standing place for a family vacation

I’m actually afraid to write this review as I’m worried this gem of a vacation rental will become so popular that we will never be able to stay there again! This was a perfect rental for our family (5 adults and 2 toddlers). The house upon arrival was in immaculate condition – felt so clean and fresh. The rooms were perfectly outfitted – pack ‘n plays for the small ones and comfy beds for the adults. Location was amazing – right at the base of Denali National Park 
 only took about 10-minutes to get to the visitor’s center. Even outside of the park but near the home, lots of amenities available – the amazing 229 Parks Restaurant (Top Chef contestant) and the Husky Homestead Tour (to not be missed) minutes away. Could not say enough about the owner’s responsiveness and hospitality. This is a special place!

Great Home Close to Park Entrance

I don't understand some of the prior criticisms. This home is spectacular in design and construction. If it was in Colorado or the Cascades it would rent easily. Considering how remote Denali is and that you are over a hundred miles to the closest city, Fairbanks, this place is remarkable. Remember there are no grocery stores in fifty miles, and yet you have all the comforts of home. A modern kitchen with all the appliances one expects( including a supply of condiments), and beautiful large bedrooms and common areas. It is best for two couples where each of you has a suite of rooms, or for a large family. While I would have been unhappy if the lower level was occuppied by the owner's family, it was not while we stayed. Yes, the water is hard, but considering the remoteness of where I am that is little to complain about. It had nice showers with good hot water. Would a nigtstand have been nice, yes, but cosidering how little time you spend there, it didn't matter.

An Unforgettable Stay Amidst Nature’s Splendor!

We recently had the pleasure of staying at this log cabin nestled in the breathtaking surroundings of Denali National Park, and I cannot recommend it enough! From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the pristine beauty of the park and the warm, cozy ambiance of the cabin. First and foremost, the location of this log cabin was simply unbeatable. Surrounded by towering trees and with stunning mountain views, it felt like a secluded haven immersed in nature’s grandeur. The cabin itself was a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort. The interior was beautifully designed, with a tasteful mix of wooden accents and cozy furnishings. It had all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay, including a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and a cozy wood burning stove. There were 16 in our party ranging in ages from 5 to 80 years young & it was comfortable for all. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the proximity to Denali National Park. We had easy access to the park’s trails, and we spent our days exploring its breathtaking landscapes, spotting wildlife, and immersing ourselves in the untouched beauty of the wilderness. The cabin’s location allowed us to make the most of our time in the park. Furthermore, the hosts of the log cabin were exceptional. They provided us with all the information we needed, were easy to communicate with & quick to respond. We can’t wait to return!

Disappointing

We were two couples booked at Kings Deer Lodge for a total of five nights in late June, 2016... We were expecting to love the Lodge based on the description and the reviews, but found some conspicuous shortcomings... PLUSES: lots of indoor 'space'; located very close to Denali entrance; nice gas grill on deck; beautiful lot with a feeling of privacy and seclusion... MINUSES: the beautiful, large deck had not one stick of furniture. Consequently, we were unable to enjoy sitting/dining outside on the many beautiful summer afternoons/evenings we experienced; the leather sofas/chairs (upstairs and down) were quite comfortable, but there was only one end table. No coffee tables nor other side tables to set drinks, snacks, books, etc.; the tap water was not drinkable (cloudy with distinct iron smell), only the filtered water from the fridge. This made certain food prep difficult and water had to be taken to the two upstairs bathrooms for teeth brushing, etc.; there were a total of 10 large, heavy drinking glasses in the lodge. No juice glasses, no wine glasses and no bathroom cups (in a house that 'sleeps 16'!); cooking equipment was minimal. Some shallow pots, but no frying pans. (BTW, only an electric percolator; no other coffee maker.).... Kings Lodge has much potential... It's a beautiful structure, in a beautiful spot... As frequent VRBO renters, however, we found it lacking in many basic items and some extra touches that make a rental property special and comfortable.

High price for what you're getting

We really tried loving this place. The location is great (the property is in a beautiful area away from all the restaurants and stores). The beds were comfortable and my family slept great. And the house is big enough for a large gathering. But...we paid a lot for this place. And given the price we paid, I'd expect a really top-notch rental. This was not the case: 1. The water was awful. Our home has well water too, so we know a little about hard water. The water at this house is the worst I've seen. It stinks--literally. It's turning everything orange (the tub floor is orange and the stand alone shower is orange all up the walls). Unsoftened water is hard on the appliances and toilets too-and one toilet wasn't flushing properly. When I texted Jessica about this, she said she knew they've been having problems with it (a known problem that wasn't fixed before our stay). Unsoftened water is known to be hard on a toilet's "guts". Also, because of the hard water, the dishwasher has a lot of buildup on the inside and the dishes come out with a white film on them. A water softener is relatively inexpensive and would be a huge improvement to this home. 2. Some bath towels were badly stained. Very inexpensive to replace considering the rental amount. 3. Since the master shower was clogged (another issue), we had to use the stand alone shower in another bathroom. This bathroom didn't have a window covering over the window. So when you walk in and out of the shower, you are right there in front of a large window. Again, we paid a lot for this house and a simple window covering doesn't cost much. 4. Left over bars of soap from previous renters is just yuck--we travel a lot and I've never had used soap as an option. Again, high rent means there could just be a fresh supply of bar soaps left out or supply liquid soap in pumps instead. 5. One of the bedroom windows wouldn't close. Fortunately it was OK for us, since we like it cold at night. Like I said, if this place was cheaper, all these things wouldn't bother us as much. But we paid really good money for this place. We've rented from VRBO or Homeaway for over 10 years--Maui, Arizona, Colorado, North Carolina, all over Florida and the Florida Keys--some high dollar areas. We've never spent this much on a home and this was far from the best rental we've ever had. It wouldn't take much to make this a 4 or 5 star home in my opinion. With improvements, this could be a great home.
