Denna pittoreska 1 sovrum möblerad apt. ligger nere i vår historiska tegelstenska handledarehem. Den har en separat nyckel, egen ingång och innergård. Utrymmet är väl upplyst med två fönster och har en bakdörr till en vacker trädgård och uteplats i bakgården samt en sidodörr till gården. Platsen är Laurelhurst - en av Portland äldsta och vackraste planerade samhällen på en lugn, trädkantad gata inom 10 minuter från staden och 15 min. från flygplatsen. Stora shopping, underbara restauranger och en av Portlands vackraste parker ligger inom gångavstånd. Detta idealiska läge ligger bara två kvarter från en stor busslinje och 5 kvarter från MAX-tåget. Det är också inom gångavstånd från favorit östra sidan shopping och matsal områden, inklusive Hawthorne, Belmont och 28th street. När du går in i denna inredda lägenhet i mitten av århundradet känner du dig omedelbart hemma! Du hittar en bekväm queen size-säng, överdriven stol och skrivbord med trådlöst internet och plattskärm med kabel, videospelare och Sony högtalare doc i sovrummet. Excellent company

Excellent couple hosting. Small basement cottage apartment with everything you need for a business trip. Close to the train if you need to go into town, no need for a rental to and from airport.

Peaceful retreat

Booked this beautiful historic apartment for our anniversary weekend. We instantly felt at home. Bob is an excellent host and a delight to chat with. We can't wait to book this property again.

Excellent basement apartment. Very clean and well kept. Privacy was respected. Travel in and out of Portland was easy. Parking was consistently open at front of house. Very pleasant neighborhood. I slept very well and felt very relaxed while there.

Beautiful Home

The owners are kind, welcoming and communicated with us every step of the way. This property is very pretty, inside and in the outdoor space. We were very comfortable and there wasn’t a need that we didn’t have met! We will be back, and will also recommend to others.

Great Stay

The house and property were beautiful. The apartment was exactly as pictured and as described. It was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Bob was a great host met us at the door and showed us around. Loved the old 50's style refrigerator so cool, pun intended. Great experience.

Cozy apartment with full kitchen. Great neighborhood within easy walk to several good restaurants.

Loved our two day stay here. Apartment well appointed with all essentials. Beautiful, private garden to enjoy a glass of wine before dinner. Great location. Walked to coffee shop in morning and dinner both nights. Would highly recommend to friends and would definitely return here.

The cottage is adorable! It fulfilled all of our needs and was in a great location!

We had such a great experience at the cottage! From the moment we got there, Bob and Sue made us feel very welcomed. My husband and I came here for our honeymoon and were greeted with champagne and roses! The cottage was amazing in all aspects! It was in a great location and we felt at right at home. I would definitely recommend staying here and will be back the next time we visit Portland!

Wonderful find and a great value for the money!

I had a last-minute opportunity to fly into the airshow at something fun in Lakeland and found that nearly every hotel within an hour was fully booked and the few remaining rooms were going for three to 400 a night.I was delighted to find this clean and cozy little camper RV trailer with plenty of room for myself another person and even two children if I had them along. It was in a nice shady drive right next to a wonderful families home and a quiet safe neighborhood. I strongly recommend and will certainly stay there next year when I’m in Lakeland in town for the same convention

Amazing Brick Hide Away

Beautiful brick house in a beautiful neighborhood. A large park is 3 blocks away. Walking distance to coffee shops, food trucks, bars, and restaurants. The unit is super clean. the host is very friendly, and the location is unbeatable.

Excellent stay in a historic area

The guest apartment was perfect for me as i was in and out my entire trip. The apartment is on the side of the gorgeous home and was clean, well-stocked, comfy and quiet. Located in Laurelhurst, you are nearby everything you would need and only 15 min from the airport. Bob was a great host and I enjoyed chatting with him for the few minutes before I left to come home. Washer, dryer, kitchenette, plenty of towels, pillows, a few snacks, water in the fridge and although I did not cook anything, the kitchen is well-stocked. Highly recommend if you are traveling alone. Safe neighborhood and beautiful to stay in.

Gorgeous property

I enjoyed my stay at this historic beautiful location in a lovely neighborhood in Portland. The owners were very responsive to any questions I had. The unit had everything I needed for a stay. The kitchen was outfitted with all you need to cook(not that I did!). Coffee and tea were provided, the spice rack was loaded, instant oatmeal and popcorn to pop were in the cupboards, and a small basket of treats was left on the kitchen table for me. I never rented a VRBO that was so organized with labels on all the drawers! Fans and heaters were available if needed. I only wish I was there when the garden was blooming. It looked so inviting with a lot of outdoor furniture to sit in. Hopefully I’ll be back!

The property was very cute and very nice outdoor gardens to walk-through. Unfortunately, there is somewhat of a strong odor of mildew and possibly moth balls?, especially in the bedroom. Unfortunately, this made my stay unpleasant.

The hosts are very kind and accommodating. Without us asking for an early check-in, they called us to let us know that we could check in a few hours early and provided both written and verbal directions for easily entering the apartment. Bob suggested some places we could visit, and his choices proved to be excellent.This charming apartment in a beautiful, historic house has everything one could need: a complete, cute kitchen with a stove, oven, microwave, coffee pot, utensils, dishes, pots and pans, and more, a washer and dryer just for guests, soft linens and fluffy towels.The bed is very comfortable, and I noticed that we slept about two more hours than we do at home. (I guess it's time for us to get a new mattress at home.) There is plenty of room for bags and clothing, a TV visible from bed, and a glimpse of the lovely garden out back. A large variety of pretty plants on the property adorn cute seating areas.The beautiful home is in a leafy, upscale, quiet neighborhood that is only about 2-4 miles from scores of restaurants of all kinds-Thai, Indian, Seafood, Mexican, burgers, steaks, and more. It is also near all kinds of coffee providers and bakeries, Whole Foods, and Trader Joe's. It provides easy access (a short drive) to Washington Park (and others) the zoo, Japanese garden, Rose garden, and close enough for easy day trips to GORGEOUS Silver Falls State Park, other waterfalls, and more. You will not regret choosing this lovely property!

Very charming basement apartment! Lovely neighborhood, and the side garden area was very nice. Although we ate out while in town, this apartment had everything you’d need to prepare your own meals. We’d definitely stay here again when visiting Portland.

Staying at “Brick House Beautiful” was truly a joy! The English cottage apartment is decorated in a charming vintage style. We appreciated the well stocked kitchen, Keurig pods, very comfortable bed and all of the little touches that make you feel at home. The gardens and outdoor spaces are beautiful and lovingly cared for. Bob and Ann take great pride in their home, are attentive to their guests and easy to communicate with. Thank you for making our time in Portland so memorable.

Quaint and quiet

Had a lovely stay at the private cottage, I was in town for a practicum and was able to walk 30 mins each morning regardless of weather and Laurelhurst neighborhood was beautiful to walk. Bob was friendly and greeted me upon arrival. And once I settled in I had complete privacy, it was exactly what I needed after long days of social interaction. The courtyard is so peaceful and beautiful. Hope to visit again next time I make it to Portland.

Nice Valentine’s Day weekend.

We loved the spot, super cute with vintage furniture! It was a little difficult finding where we supposed to go when we first got there, but that’s only because we showed up very late at night and got a bit lost in the fairytale-esque courtyard.

We live in a historic home in Laurelhurst, in Portland. Sue is a retired principal and Bob retired from the big aerospace company in Seattle (Boeing). Sue has a passion for decorating and gardening (is very creative and good at both), Bob is into art and also enjoys and appreciates creating and living in a tasteful environment. We both enjoy entertaining, hosting frequent social gatherings in our home in our English garden or just having friends over for a 'glass' of wine. We also have a house on the Oregon Coast that we love and enjoy sharing with family and friends and that is also available for short term rental. We stay constantly busy with our 'projects' spending time with the grandchildren, try to fit some time in for a little golf and getting away for a few days from time to time.

As hosts we would be happy to invite our guests for a tour of our historic home, sit with us and enjoy a glass of wine in front of the inglenook fireplace or on the patio in the garden. If our guests prefer to left alone we are sensitive to that as well. Our goal is to provide a welcoming, comfortable, and tasteful environment for our guests, and possibly develop new friendships.

As guests we appreciate friendly, but sensitive to our privacy, hosts that provides a clean, comfortable environment that makes us feel at home. We also appreciate hosts that provide recommendations and insight into places to visit and things to do.

As to a life motto we both think that, Live, Love, Laugh and Learn is how we approach life.

Bob met Ann late in 2022 and are now a committed couple.

Varför värden valde detta boende

We love unique older homes and are very proud of our historic home because it has been preserved over the years. The only room we needed to redo was the 1960's kitchen which we remodeled back to a period kitchen which was featured on the cover of Old House Journal! Our apt. is decorated in a 1950's-60's decor with authentic metal cabinets, Formica table and chairs and furnishings.

The apt. has it's own private courtyard with access to our lovely English Gardens in the backyard. It has a very comfortable bed, a pantry and it's own washer/dryer.

Guest Access

Guests enter by going through the front iron gate to the front porch and then take the side gate to the side door in the courtyard. There is a lock box with a key to the apt. on the fence post if we are not home.

Interaction with Guests

We always try to greet our guests personally and give them a tour of the home and surroundings. Upon request, we are happy to provide our guests with suggestions for exciting places to visit, dine and/or play! We love meeting new friends!

Laurelhurst is an historic Portland neighborhood with beautiful homes, street trees and a huge park a few blocks away designed by the Olmsted's who designed Central Park in NYC. You will see how homes in Laurelhurst are each very different and unique from craftsmen with large porches to smaller bungalows with beautiful gardens.
Public transportation is only a block away and great stores, shops and restaurants are all within walking distance.

We like to entertain and will sometimes have friends over for a barbeque, dinner party or even a small party. Guests are always welcome to join us. However, guests do have their own private courtyard with privacy, a place to eat outside and enjoy the lovely pots of flowers.
