Strawberry Cottage ligger inbäddat halvvägs ner på västra sidan av Canandaigua sjön i en privat, trädbevuxen miljö. Uppfarten från West Lake Road leder ner till detta charmiga sjöhem, som ligger strax ovanför sjön och omgiven av mogna träd, vilket ger en känsla av avskildhet och lugn.

Strawberry Cottage byggdes 1939 och erbjuder gästerna utseende och känsla av förflutna dagar tillsammans med moderna bekvämligheter. Vackra träpanelväggar, en underbar fältstensspis och en eklektisk blandning av antika och moderna möbler skapar en trevlig och bekväm atmosfär för att njuta av din privata tillflyktsort.
Huvudingången på baksidan av stugan leder till det rymliga vardagsrummet, som har en platt-TV med kabel-TV, soffor, solstolar och ett kort / frukostbord med utsikt över sjön. Till vänster är en hall som leder till första våningen tvätt och halv bad. Till höger finns en uppsättning franska dörrar som öppnar ut mot den luftiga och rymliga solporchen. Här kan gästerna sitta vid en måltid vid matbordet med plats för 8, beläget precis utanför köket, eller njuta av samtal eller god bok om de bekväma soffor och stolar som vetter mot vattnet och utomhusområdet. Det charmiga lantliga köket ligger precis utanför vardagsrummet och solrummet och har vackra landsbygdsstilskåp och gott om köksutrustning för att laga mat till stora måltider hemma.
Trappan på baksidan av vardagsrummet leder på övervåningen till de generösa sovrummen. I den södra änden av korridoren finns sovrummet, som innehåller en drottningssäng och en full bäddsoffa, ett sovrum med badrum med en gammaldags, klofotfot med duschring och en liten täckt balkong med utsikt över vardagsrummet utomhus. Till vänster om trappan finns ett sovrum med en dubbelsäng och ett extra sovrum med 2 enkelsängar. Över hallen finns ett komplett badrum med dusch. Hallens norra ände leder till ytterligare två sovrum, ett med en dubbelsäng, och den andra med 2 enkelsängar och en full bäddsoffa, och ett badrum över hallen med en dusch / badkar combo.
Direkt utanför sunporch är en grus uteplats med trädgårdsmöbler och en gräsbevuxen yta på trappan för utomhuslekar. Strandpromenaden framför fastigheten fortsätter till trappan som leder till däck ovanför sjön och sjön. Det finns en naturlig stenstrand på södra sidan av den enorma permanenta bryggan, som möjliggör gradvis inträde och vading.
Strawberry Cottage ligger bara 15 minuter från Neapel och Canandaigua, och det är också nära till många populära attraktioner!

cottage/camp like place

Overall, adequate for a cottage vacation. The lack of A/C is a problem in July, but there are several fans in the bedrooms. Once we were able to open the windows after check in, it was better. The bathrooms and kitchen, while old, were clean. There is a garbage disposal and a dishwasher - unusual in older cottages and washer and dryer on the first floor. We arrived just as the cleaner was leaving, yet the living room had so many dead bugs on the floors we had to sweep them up ourselves since we had several small children with us. There is poison ivy along the gravel path (we removed some), and the board walk. This is a pet friendly house, but the dog getting into the poison ivy was a concern. There are 60 steps down to the water. Lovely dock and good swimming off the end of the docks. There is a little park (Onanda) with beach only a 2 minute drive away so we were able to enjoy that area. Overall, nice but not fancy

Beautiful lake view but be prepared for old school cottage living

The cottage is set in the woods and had a beautiful view of the lake. The family enjoyed swimming and hanging out on the dock. There was plenty of seating and room to eat and converse together. Not having AC was definitely a problem in July as the bedrooms were on the second floor and heat rises. Check in at 4 pm meant windows couldn’t be opened to release heat before arriving. Things were a little better once all the windows and screen doors were opened but one screen door was torn and unusable. Luckily the weather got cooler and less humid. Overall the living area was clean but every windowsill and screen door had dead bugs and the outdoor furniture had to be cleaned before using it. We called property management to report bugs and screens and they responded quickly and were willing to send housekeeping back out but the screen wasn’t fixed because this property lacked a maintenance contract with VRBO.

peaceful retreat

This is a charming old house with great view of the lake. There was plenty of room for us (7 adults, a 3 years old and an infant), the living area is comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped, the patio is in the shade with a great view of the lake. There is however only 1 working shower. Three different maintenance guys were sent to fix the problem with the tub/shower combo over the course of the week. They could neither fix the clog nor the water "mixer" there. The water comes out either steaming hot or hot and the shower is running even you only try to run the faucet. The professional's verdict: "the entire piping needs to be redone". There is plenty of poison ivy along the gravel path (we removed some), the board walk and also on a railing by the 2 hill side steps into the water. (We happened to have two plant specialists in our group). An other disappointment was that the listed canoe was not there. You expect to be able to trust that things are there you payed for. Finally, please be aware that there are 61 steps down to the water level. There is a 30 to 40 foot drop down from the house. Although the stairs have a good railing I would not recommended this situation for small children. Even one of our adults in the party is fearful of hights and had problems with these stairs. Luckily there is a little park (Onanda) with beach only a 2 minute drive away so that a child could safely play at water's edge.

Perfect Fit

This house accommodates a variety of ages and interests. The walk to the water can be a challenge but it is worth it. Well supplied. Minor things..fans not dusted and they were needed...toilet seat on one toilet too short pinches kids and needs to be to correct size and dryer was only nominally working. Would stay again

Very enjoyable location

Very nice place but needs a bit more attention to smaller details such as having at least one full tank of propane as it took 3 notifications that all three tanks were empty, two notifications that there was no working can opener which was not replaced (when someone was in the area again, one would be provided), despite 2 visits from staff, requiring a trip to Wal-mart in order to open our canned goods. The temperature control for the shower was very difficult to manage, either way too hot or too cold and nothing in the stall to hang on to as well as a very slippery floor. The step from the sliding door to the yard is quite deep and could really use an additional step for safety as there is nothing to hang on to. It would have been nice to have more than six outdoor chairs so guests would not need to bring their own. The indoor furnishings were very nice and the place is very spacious. Having laundry facilities and a first-floor powder room very much appreciated. The view is absolutely stunning.

Needs a few minor fixes but overall a great place

Recently rented strawberry cottage for a week. We had a large group so we needed the room that this place provides. There was plenty of space for everybody. (We had 11 altogether) There are a fair number of steps down to the water but good railings on the steps and a nice observation deck 1/2 way down. The water quality is good for swimming, but the bottom is rocky and the zebra mussels make water shoes a must. Half of the dock is quite new and made of synthetic material, so no splinters. The other half of the dock needs a few boards replaced but was generally sound to walk-on. There are a few minor drawbacks including the lack of a fire pit for campfires. The master bathroom does not have a shower. ( old-fashioned clawfoot bathtub) The kitchen was well equipped and all the appliances worked properly. There were no instructions for using the TV and we were unable to get the cable working. I did call and left a message for a maintenance person but my call was not returned. A few of the screens were torn and needed replacing. One of the sliding doors did not have a latch which could have been a security issue. There is no air conditioning but there is generally a nice breeze and the ceiling fans helped as well. Caught several fish off the dock. The location is close enough to either Canandaigua Or Naples that it’s easy to go there for dinner.

Family Vacation

Great location and access to the lake. Downside is there is no A/C. We only had a couple of days of hot and humid weather, but would have been tough if we had stayed during a heat wave, particularly for sleeping. House is spacious enough for a big group but could use another shower instead of tub in the master bedroom.

Wedding Weekend

My husband I rented this property for our wedding party and our two dogs. This space was big enough to fit our loved ones and even did some of our wedding photos on the dock overlooking the lake. We enjoyed this property and will likely rent in the future. They were not responsive through the messaging service however they did answer the phone line.
