Denna extremt bekväma, ljusa och rymliga lägenhet ligger fantastiskt för sightseeing, kultur, (Palermo nominerades "Italiens kulturhuvudstad 2018"), marknader och nattliv - allt är en kort promenad bort!

Lägenheten är på två våningar: på den nedre våningen finns ett sovrum med dubbelsäng med balkong och badrum, stort vardagsrum med balkong, soffor, TV, bord. En cirkulär trappa tar dig till övre våningen där det andra dubbelrummet, badrummet, fullt utrustat kök och angränsande terrass. Lägenheten ligger på andra våningen, med hiss.

Båda sovrummen är helt privata, luftiga och har luftkonditionering och centralvärme. Sovrummet på översta våningen kan vara antingen dubbel eller tvilling, (ange före ankomst om du behöver två enkelsängar). Båda har gott om garderobsutrymme.

Vardagsrummet är en lugn och bekväm plats att återvända till efter en dag i den livliga staden Palermo. Kall på sommaren med balkong och takfläkt och mysigt på vintern med diskret belysning, uppvärmning och stora soffor. Bortsett från tv, finns det ett urval av DVD-skivor för dig att titta på. Det finns också ett matbord som kan användas som en bekväm bärbar dator eller arbetsplats - perfekt för längre vistelser. Wi-Fi finns.

Köket, med matplats, har allt du behöver för att förbereda och njuta av utsökta måltider från det fantastiska utbudet av lokala råvaror som finns på den närliggande matmarknaden, som ligger bara 2 minuters promenad bort. Det finns också diskmaskin och tvättmaskin.

Köket ger på den härliga terrassen, idealisk för friluftsmatsal, med en fantastisk utsikt över den fantastiska majolica-kupolen i Chiesa del Carmine Maggiore, (missa inte slutet av juli-processionen).

Denna kyrka är bara en av de många barocka underverken i staden. Palermo är också en UNESCO världsarvslista för sin arab-normanska resväg.

Lägenheten ligger i Albergheria-området, inom de gamla stadsmuren. De flesta av UNESCO-platserna ligger i Albergheria, eftersom det är den äldsta stadsdelen i Palermo och är där fönikerna grundade staden. Albergheria, som en gång innehöll det judiska kvarteret, är fortfarande ett pulserande, mångkulturellt distrikt och stoltserar med den berömda matmarknaden i Ballarò, grundad under arabtiden, och i synnerhet en verklig arbetsmarknad med sina röster och fulla med boder som säljer lokala produkter. Den nyligen beviljade UNESCO-arv-norra-normanvägen förbinder Palermo med Cefalù och Monreale, (båda lätt nås från Palermo). Palermo erbjuder också ett program av världsomspännande operaföreställningar i stadens Teatro Massimo.

A week in the centre of Palermo

This duplex flat is a delight, beautifully fitted out and thoughtfully provided with the basic provisions. Very easy access to the daily market and many of the historic buildings are within 15 minutes walk. A lovely view of the church from the terrace.The perfect base for a weeks exploration of the city centre.,

Property was as advertised. Hostess was a10. Helpful and extremely nice. Old town is looking a little run down but felt safe walking around. Apartment is right next to the market great place to see all the Sicilian food. Very nice apartment.

Great location, amazing host

Yvonne was an amazing host. The neighbourhood is a little edgy, but very authentic. We loved going to the market which was just steps away and buying fresh fruit, veggies and bread for breakfast and lunch. We had our bread guy and cheese guy. It made our trip to Palermo.

Great experience

Great location if you want to be in the center of the action within walking distance to major sights. The apartment is spacious, very well appointed with everything you need and more. Yvonne was lovely, knowledgeable about the area and super friendly. Can’t think of anything more she could have done to make our visit more enjoyable. I’d stay there again while visiting Palermo.

Great apartment in a real neighbourhood

A spacious apartment in a lively neighbourhood. It can be a bit noisy at times due to the proximity to the Ballaro market but it is convenient to all the sites in the historic centre. Yvonne was a wonderful host. She had multiple suggestions of things to see and do including a fantastic restaurant recommendation that turned out to be one of the best meals we have every had. Highly Recommend.

Wow!

This apartment was perfect for two couples on Easter weekend in Palermo. The apartment was very classy and a great location for the Ballerò Market and many other venues. The landlord was exceptional. She met us upon arrival and helped us park, unload our bags, and get settled. Her recommendations for dinners were right on point and she was focused on making our visit perfect. We just couldn’t have asked for a better stay.

A most pleasant stay

This apartment was delightful. Its layout is such that four people could easily stay there and not get in each others way. It is located pretty much in the middle of the Ballarò market. The market shuts down in the early evening so street noise is not a problem. Yvonne was waiting for us upon our arrival, and was most informative and gracious during our stay. This was our fourth trip to Palermo and we really felt that we were staying in the authentic Palermo. Our concerns about safety in the neighborhood proved to be totally unfounded as we felt very safe the whole time.

A spacious apartment in a genuine, central Palermo neighbourhood

This is a spacious and well equiped/furnished apartment in a very genuine, central Palermo neighbourhood. We enjoyed being somewhere where we felt we could experience local life, rather than simply being in a tourist area. It's not been "gentrified" and is a largely residential district. Only 50 yards away is the buzzing, messy Ballaro market - one of the sights of Palermo - but the apartment itself is very peaceful and the terrace a welcome retreat from Palermo's streets. We found the apartment very well located for seeing all the main sights in Palermo: a short walk from the Palazzo dei Normanni and Cathedral, the Quattro Canti at the heart of the city, and the sights of the Kalsa, Capo and Vucciria districts. The proximity to the central station (which we used for the airport and Cefalu) and Piazza Indipendenza (for the bus to Monreale - highly recommended) is also very convenient. Internally the apartment is very generous, with a downstairs living room and an upstairs kitchen/diner opening onto the terrace. Even in an unseasonably hot period for late September it stayed cool in the living areas and the airconditioning effectively kept the bedrooms at a good temperature. Our Host, Yvonne was very welcoming - we enjoyed meeting her on arrival and she was very accommodatng with our check-in arrangements, helpful in correspondence and provided useful information/recommendations (for eating we enjoyed Bisso Bistro and the basic/genuine local Tratorria il Bersagliere)

Perfect Location

Yvonne is a wonderful host and her apartment was the perfect base for three women. She set the upstairs room with two twin beds, per our request. When we arrived, she found us several blocks away, where the taxi had dropped us, and helped to get us to her apartment. The apartment is beautiful; clean, comfortable and well stocked. She introduced us to how to make coffee in the moka coffee pot, which is wonderful. The welcome goodies and supplies she left for us were much appreciated as well! The two bedrooms were very comfortable as was the spacious living area, but the outdoor space, overlooking the beautiful dome of the Chiesa next door, was where we spent most of our time. Yvonne provided lots of suggestions, tour information and reference guides, which helped us to plan our days. The apartment is steps away from the bustling Ballaro market with a myriad of food and goods for sale. It’s also walking distance to the Quattro Canti with the beautiful Fontana Pretoria, the churches of San Cataldo and La Mortorana, Piazza Bellini and the hop-on-hop-off tour buses, allowing easy access to all the top attractions Palermo has to offer. The apartment allowed us to enjoy being part of the local community, getting used to the daily routines, exploring the market, shops and eateries in the area. We highly recommend this as your base while exploring Palermo if you want to immerse yourself in the local culture. Yvonne is a perfect host, just a text or call away, should you have any questions or need anything. Thank you for sharing your apartment Yvonne!

Very comfortable flat with lots of extras to make our stay easy.

Yvonne was very helpful and responsive. The little extras - decent coffee, milk, fruit, bread, biscuits, shampoo, tissues etc - and the most comfortable beds and bedding (outside my own bedroom at home) made this a wonderful bolt hole. And we really appreciated the gesture of pasta and homemade pesto waiting for us on the day we had to go to Catania. And the lifts to and from the bus station for the bus to the airport. There were some problems about the trip however. Not least the theft of my purse from my bag - including my passport - on the tourist bus of the old town the first morning. This involved major hassle - phone calls to the Embassy in Rome and a five hour round trip across the island to Catania for a visit to the honorary consul to get an emergency travel document to fly home. So our advice would be not to board a very busy bus. And to be very careful of your belongings. But the city is very walkable, so there is really no need to catch a local bus anyway. The location was very central, but as others have said it could be noisy, especially at night, with fire crackers, scooters and neighbours calling from balconies into the early hours. But if you choose to be in the market area you must expect to be surrounded by Sicilian life, in all its splendour. And the market was very convenient for excellent bread, meat, veg and fruit. And most of the stall holders and shop keepers were very friendly. The wifi worked well but don't expect to be able to stream films or even radio for too long as there is a daily limit, starting at midnight. All in all, a very comfortable and well appointed flat but just be careful of some of the street life!

L appartement d Yvonne est magnifique... Raffiné..et pourvu de tout ce qu il faut . Superbe lieu de séjour

Nous sommes enchanté du séjour que nous avons passé dans l’appartement d'Yvonne Lokes. Un endroit que nous recommandons mille fois. Pour le lieu qui est parfait et l'attention de notre hôte. C'est un très beau duplex moderne, spacieux, clair et confortable. Au rez de chaussée un grand salon donne accès à une belle chambre avec salle de bains. L'ensemble des photos de l'annonce correspondent parfaitement à l'appartement. Décoration soignée avec beaucoup goût. Un lieu silencieux, au 2e étage avec ascenseur ! L'appartement dispose de tout ce qui compte au quotidien. L'équipement cuisine de qualité est très complet (comme chez soi) 2 salles de bains très bien agencées. Beau linge de maison Les chambres sont spacieuses et une large literie très confortable. le 1er étage du duplex ( 2e chambre, cuisine et 2e salle de bains) donne sur une petite terrasse bien exposée. Lieu très agréable pour le petit déjeuner, le thé, la lecture. L'appartement est situé au cœur du Palerme ancien, à 2 pas de l’immense Marché historique de Ballaro, lieu foisonnant qui déborde d'odeurs, de musique, du cri des commerçants, de nourritures délicieuses, où se côtoie toute la richesse et la diversité de la population palermitaine. Remarque. C'est notre 2e séjour à Palerme, que nous passons au mois d'octobre. Temps superbe, chaleur agréable sans canicule et c'est aussi le mois des journées du patrimoine. Tous les vendredis, samedis et dimanches, accès aux lieux d'excellence culturelle. Il est à noter que c'est à cette époque qu'a lieu également la fête des associations du quartier de Ballaro qui bat don plein avec ses spectacles de rue.

Palermo Adventure

I highly recommend this apartment/flat. Yvonne is a wonderful host. She is very thoughtful and was a huge help during our stay. We ended up arriving 12 hours late; shortly after midnight; and Yvonne was kind enough to arrange transportation and meet us for check-in. The accommodations exceeded our expectations and the location was perfect for reaching most everything by foot. The flat was very clean and well kept. The patio/deck was awesome! Yvonne also gave excellent suggestions for places to eat and see. We would visit again without hesitation. Thanks Yvonne, ~ Randy

Excellent séjour familial à Palerme

Tout a été parfait pour notre séjour d'une semaine à Palerme dans l'appartement d'Yvonne, situé tout près du centre historique. Tout d'abord l'accueil d'Yvonne a été parfait le jour même de notre arrivée et même au delà puisqu'elle nous a donné dès le lendemain beaucoup de renseignements sur l'intérêt de la ville et ses environs. L'appartement par lui-même (en duplex) avait beaucoup de cachet et était très bien équipé. Nous recommandons fortement ce pied à terre palermitain pour découvrir la capitale de la Sicile et ses merveilleux environs (Décalé, Monreale...). Nous garderons un souvenir, enchanté à tous points de vue, de ce séjour sicilien !! Christine, Jacques et François.

Eine ansprechende, gut möblierte und sehr zweckmäßig ausgestattete Wohnung für 4 Personen, mitten in der Altstadt mit ihrem emsigen Treiben. Der lebendige Ballarò-Markt liegt direkt um die Ecke, Einkaufsmöglichkeiten sind fußläufig erreichbar ebenso wie viele Sehenswürdigkeiten. Die Vermieterin empfing uns sehr sehr herzlich, informierte umfassend und war äußerst hilfsbereit. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt. Mille grazie Yvonne

Superbe terrasse, très bien placé

L'appartement est conforme à la description, très agréable, extrêmement bien situé pour visiter Palerme à pied, dans un quartier très populaire et plutôt animé -- quoique l'appartement lui-même soit plutôt calme. La propriétaire est hyper réactive et donne plein de conseils pour profiter au mieux de Palerme. Je recommande.

Mitten in der Altstadt Palermos

Die Kommunikation mit der Vermieterin war sehr freundlich und fürsorglich auf Englisch. Die Wohnung ist hinsichtlich Lage und Ausstattung ein Traum. Die Wohnung ist wegen einer Wendeltreppe zur Küche nicht behindertengerecht.

Très agréable

Merci à Yvonne pour son accueil et ses conseils avisés. L'appartement est très bien placé, à 10 mn à pied de la gare, et facilement accessible, d'autant plus qu'Yvonne prend le soin de vous faire parvenir l'itinéraire pour ne pas se perdre. Elle vous laisse aussi un book avec des idées de visite ou de lieux à découvrir et d'endroits utiles (boutique,s restaurants,...). Elle a la délicate attention de prendre de vos nouvelles le lendemain en vous envoyant encore quelques bons plans et idées. L'appartement est très propre, bien équipé, rien en manque et il est décoré avec goût. Le quartier du mercato del Capo est très vivant et il faut le découvrir dès le matin pour profiter du marché et des petits commerces aux alentours. Les commerçants sont très accueillants et rien de tels qu'un bon verre de jus frais de grenade, d'orange ou de citron au coin de la rue avant d'arpenter le centre historique qui réserve de très belles surprises. Et l'appartement est calme, très bien isolé. Donc, un excellent séjour, bien placé, avec un accueil sympathique dans une ville qui vaut le détour !

Perfect Palermo home

We can’t thank Yvonne enough for our 18-day stay at her wonderful Palermo apartment. This is a lovely spacious apartment, comfortable, extremely well appointed and located on a marvelous lively street that empties out on to the authentic Ballaro Market. We will never forget sitting on her jewel of a terrace, sipping Sicilian wine and gazing at the beautiful dome of Chiesa del Carmine Maggiore. Yvonne is wonderful. We followed so many of her recommendations for everything from local sights to restaurants and shopping (her suggestions include options for all budgets) to visiting the nice lady at the corner who squeezed fresh pomegranate juice for us each morning. When we needed her advice about where to park a rental car or best transportation to the airport, she got back to us at lightening speed and was so kind and helpful. We hope that when we return to Palermo we will be able to stay at her lovely home again. It was such a big part of a perfect trip. Thanks Yvonne!

Feel the pulse of bustling Palermo up close!

The apartment is right behind the Ballaro’ market, yet very quite and extremely comfortable with all you need for a wonderful stay. Yvonne, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable of the neighborhood and Palermo in general and will dispense to you any information you’ll need. The other historical sites of the city are an easy reach by foot, we never had to use either a taxicab or any public transportation. We highly recommend it. Thank you for your hospitality!

Palermo's Secret

If your staying in Palermo, you must stay at this flat. It is perfect. Yvonne greeted us with so much information. The place was clean and up the street from the World's famous Ballaro Market. I recommend staying here. It is walking distance to the train. There is no need to rent a car. My company and I literally walked all over Palermo. This apartment is one of the best kept secrets! Thank you Yvonne for being such a great hostess!!! A+A+A+

Busy Ballarò basecamp in Palermo

This is a lovely renovated apartment in the heart of old Palermo. Less than 50 meters from the historic and lively Ballarò market. Comfortable living area, 2 spacious bedrooms with good beds, two modern and functional bathrooms. The view from the living room balcony out over Via Albergerini is priceless - very active family neighborhood, lots of yelling, kids, crazy vaporettos, laundry handing out, and frequent parades with bands and images of saints. The upper floor back terrace is quiet and has a great view of the dome of the neighborhood church. The kitchen is a dream, fully equipped and functional, and with the market right next door, you can cook up a storm. Excellent communication and help from the owner. We loved it.

an intense experience

We were very happy in this beautifully appointed, immaculately kept apartment, whose spaciousness will be particularly welcome to the long-term visitor. Its thoughtfully (and fully) equipped kitchen, with a roof terrace on which you can dine in full view of the tiled dome of the Carmine, will permit you to make full use of the bustling market outside your front door. Palermo is a city of intensely felt contrasts, the apartment will be a place of rest and calm in it. And the hostess will always be available for advice and help with a perfect combination of promptness, efficiency and warmth.
