Oh my, what can I say about this wonderful place and host. It is one of the most unique places we have ever stayed. Joaquin is such an amazing person. He is a naturalist and his home is so welcoming and the grounds are magnificent! He has planted every tree and bush, and they are all labeled so you know what each species is. The house is wonderful and has all the things you need for a wonderful stay. He helped us out when our car was locked up overnight in Arcos. He picked us up and then drove us back in the morning. He went out of his way to make us feel so special. I highly recommend this beautiful home and the city of Arcos is magical. Thanks, Joaquin. We will never forget you!

Wonderful place

The whole experience was great, from the start to finish. The property has everything you need and more. The gardens are extensive and obviously the passion of the owner. Plenty of shady areas. Beautiful surroundings and only a 10 minute drive into Arcos. Nothing was too much trouble for Joaquin, and was always available to answer any questions about the surrounding area.

Magical

The listing actually doesn’t do justice to the place. The gardens, all planted and created by Joaquín, are truly stunning. We have seen trees we have never encountered before, the succulents and cacti are other worldly. There are so many different areas to sit and enjoy the garden we didn’t manage to make use of them all in our week, but the BBQ works brilliantly. The finca itself is a delight. Well equipped and comfortable. It really did become our home for a week. We have stayed in many self catering places all over Europe and we can honestly say this is the best.

Macharnudo

A beautiful and well equipped finca in spectacular and extensive grounds, well located near Arcos de la Frontera and for visiting other places of interest, though you will need a car; also good for just relaxing. The local lake at El Santiscal is extremely charming and there is a very good restaurant there. As mentioned by other reviewers the owner Joaquin is an extremely gracious host, there to welcome you and always on hand to help with any questions or recommendations. The beautiful grounds have been a labour of love for him and his wife over many years - and still in progress - they have created imaginative gardens (accessible for those with mobility difficulties) that is a haven for wildlife, especially birds. Joaquin is passionate about this garden and its impact on the environment and happy to share his passion while always respecting the privacy of guests. My husband needed to see a doctor while we were there and Joaquin was a real Good Samaritan, helping us to the doctor, with translation and ensuring that we had everything we needed afterwards; a very kind and generous man whose help we deeply appreciated.

Everything about this place was amazing, the decor the garden and the location. It was very comfortable with everything that we needed For cooking our meals. Joaquin, the owner has made it a special place and we are grateful to have shared it. His suggestion to visit Grazalema was well worth the drive

PEACEFUL FEW DAYS IN PARADISE

We enjoyed such a relaxing stay in the house and garden; it was difficult to leave for excursions. We preferred to admire the tremendous gardens, beautifully maintained by the owners. Almost every plant and tree is identified by label; we were envious of how healthy they looked compared to our own efforts. The town of Grazalema is worthy of note; although it is worth visiting early in the day before the heat/crowds descend.

Very good

We stayed for 4 days in El Penon Amarillo near Arcos de la Frontera. The house is beautifull and well equipped. The garden is huge (30.000 m2) and lovely; you feel the passion of owner Joaquin Nunez who designed and developed it himself. The location is excellent near highways to e.g. Sevilla and Cadiz, both located at around 100 km.

Spectacular & Idyllic Property

If you’re looking to be off the beaten path in a truly spectacular and idyllic setting, this is the place! We were a party of 4, two couples, and every aspect of this house and the glorious gardens made this one of the most memorable trips we’ve ever taken. While you’re in close proximity to the town, you are equally situated in a private paradise. Cannot recommend this more highly.

Une belle maison dans un jardin magnifique

Une maison idĂ©ale pour des vacances en Andalousie. TrĂšs bien Ă©quipĂ©e et facile Ă  vivre. Un jardin rempli de plantes oĂč on peut se promener en dĂ©couvrant diffĂ©rentes essences Ă  chaque fois qu'on sort de la maison avec plein de petites espaces ombragĂ©es oĂč on peut se dĂ©tendre. Maison trĂšs bien situĂ©e pour visiter toute la rĂ©gion autour de SĂ©ville, Cadix, Jerez et Arcos. Un propriĂ©taire trĂšs sympathique qui parle trĂšs bien l'anglais et le français. Il nous a donnĂ© beaucoup de renseignements et d'informations utiles pour notre sĂ©jour.

Charming Country Cottage

Finca Macharnudo was the perfect spot for our time in western Andalucia. It's a little over an hour from Sevilla, less than that to Cadiz and Jerez, and just ten minutes to Arcos de la Frontera, one of the most spectacular of the white towns. The house itself is beautiful, comfortable, and very tastefully appointed, but the extensive terraced gardens and several outdoor seating areas really take the experience over the top. Joaquin is as helpful and charming as any host you will ever meet and went out of his way to ensure that we had a successful visit. I feel the need to mention that there was a lot of dog barking in the area during the day. That wasn't a big concern for us as we were away during the daytime and didn't have a problem during the night (we slept wonderfully).

Amazing property!

This home is charming, clean, organized and amazing!! The owner is so welcoming and kind. He had snacks waiting for us upon arrival. We loved exploring the property and admiring all the plants. It is a very short drive to a yummy bakery and to the beautiful town of Arcos. We parked at the bottom and walked up to the castle in town, stopping to eat along the way. We will rent this property again.

Escapada Relax

Hemos estado mi pareja y yo cinco dĂ­as, a los cuales se han unido en los dos Ășltimos nuestra hija, marido y nieto. BuscĂĄbamos un sitio aislado y tranquilo y justo es lo que hemos encontrado. Una maravillosa casa con una distribuciĂłn estupenda, muy cĂłmoda y a la que no le falta detalle de nada, todo lo contrario, totalmente acondicionada con una gran chimenea que en invierno ha de ser sentarse ante ella una exquisited.. He de destacar el gran ventanal que es una preciosidad y un lujo sentarse dentro contemplando el paisaje. En los alrededores hay muchos rincones donde sentarse o pasear, hay muchos ĂĄrboles y mucha vegetaciĂłn aunque se ve que no hay mucha agua para riego, porque hay mucha plantaciĂłn seca y estropeada. Esto junto a la mala cobertura movil es lo menos bueno por nuestra parte, por lo demas.. hemos encontrado lo que buscĂĄbamos. Muy buen anfitriĂłn atento a cualquier problema y que por cierto nos invitĂł a quedarnos el Ășltimo dĂ­a hasta la hora que quisiĂ©semos por lo que aprovechamos y nos quedamos a la comida. GracĂ­as por todo! 🌾✹

Ein spanisches Paradies

Ein idyllisches Fleckchen Erde. Joaquin ist ein GĂ€rtner mit Herz und das spĂŒrt man in jeder Ecke des Gartens. Die Pflanzen sind zum Großteil sogar beschriftet. Die Finca ist traumhaft und stilvoll spanisch eingerichtet- so wie man sich das fĂŒr seinen Urlaub wĂŒnscht. Es fehlt an nichts. 100%ige Weiterempfehlung. Besser geht kaum.
