Historiskt sett var "Porterie" hem för "broder-portören". Regeln av St Benedict framsåg verkligen: ”Vid klostrets dörr kommer en klok gammal man att placeras, som vet hur han ska ta emot och svara, och vars mognad bevarar honom från att vandra överallt. Denna portör måste ha en låda nära dörren, så att ankomster alltid hittar någon där för att svara på dem. Så snart någon bankar eller en fattig person ringer, kommer han att svara: "Dea gratias" eller "Benedicite" och med all söthet av Guds rädsla kommer han att skynda sig att svara i välgörenhetens glädje. Om denna portier behöver hjälp, kommer han att ha en yngre bror med sig ... ".

Dörren till 4 **** har återställts med passion för att erbjuda dig en service av charm och lyx, en välsmakande blandning av tradition och modern komfort. Bevarandet och förbättringen av alla dess ursprungliga element (utsatta stenar, öppen spis, grönsakslack, valv, ekbjälkar, tometter) skapar en mycket varm atmosfär.

I detta sammanhang angränsar ett "trevligt" kök, fullt utrustat och utrustat med en central ö, ett mycket trevligt, elegant vardagsrum med studerad belysning, utrustning (TV / DVD) och trevliga fåtöljer (inklusive en utdragbar säng ) kommer att glädja dig. An unforgettable experience with charming and attentive hosts

A truly magical setting, deep in the Loire and surrounded in typical French countryside. Complete tranquility and a relaxing stay in a chocolate box gite surrounded by nature. The setting is truly idyllic. The hosts were the perfect blend, offering friendly local knowledge, homemade jams, and the highlight for the kids was a sunset safari in their jeep to spot wild deer and then bats flying out of the belfry when we watched the setting sun from the rooftop of the abbey. Great rural quiet location

Fabulous hosts, lovely interesting property equipped with all you need. Marc & Christine very helpful and friendly. We wish them the best of luck with the Abby. Rural location is surrounded by sunflower fields but is very remote. Lots of chateaux and vineyards not too far and interesting towns within an hour.

A wonderful week!

The Porterie is a gorgeous old building with everything we needed. The abbey and surroundings are so peaceful and beautiful. Our hosts Christine and Marc-Olivier were wonderful, good fun, welcoming and helpful. The information on where to visit was amazing, as was the jeep rides! The pool was a great entertainment for the kids. Our week went by too quickly, we could have stayed for longer! Thank you Christine and Marc-O, you made our holiday. So great! Séjour du 30/07 au 6/08/22

Très très bon séjour à l'abbaye de Bois-Aubry. Très agréable de bénéficier d'un gîte de très belle qualité au sein d'un site aussi magnifique. De la piscine, nous apercevons le site historique de l'abbaye... depuis le gîte nous pouvons flâner autour de l'abbaye et découvrir la faune et la flore... Marc et Christine nous ont réservé un excellent accueil et nous ont partagé avec passion les curiosités locales pour nos activités touristiques ainsi qu'une visite historique inoubliable du site. Ils sont tous les 2 adorables et ultra-disponibles si besoin. Géraldine/Vincent

One of a kind place with amazing hosts!

L’Abbaye Saint-Michel is a very special place. It was the first time I ever woke up to the view of a steeple tower from the 12th century and beautiful pink roses spread around the property! The pool was a wonderful way to cool off and their is so much to see and do within 1.5 hours from the abbey. The hosts were so kind. We had one night where we sat at the picnic table with the hosts and the French family, who had rented the other gîte on the property, until the wee hours of the morning chatting about many things in both English and French. We had a 4-wheel drive in the area on their WWII jeeps, enjoyed their Belgium fries and generally their warmness. What a wonderful way to explore the Loire Valley!

agréable séjour, bien situé, hôtes au top!

Nous avons choisi ce gite pour sa taille (5 personnes) et son emplacement très central pour visiter la région des châteaux de la Loire. Nous y avons découvert un site fabuleux (ancienne abbaye du 12e siècle) et des hôtes formidables, passionnés et vraiment très sympathiques. Nous avons déjà envie d'y retourner.

Perfect vacation for the entire family!

Very friendly and welcoming hosts! The restoration of the gite was done with a great sense for history and tradition creating an inspiring and cosy atmosphere. Pretty private back yard to relaxe in a wooden two-person-swing looking at the impressive Abbey tower. We were given a fantastic tour of the Abbey by a passionate host - his enthusiasm is contagious and naturally affected us as well. The entire Abbey site is just beautifully done and full of historical but also many enchanting places. The pool is a dream to the adults and the kids. Our kids were thrilled by the adventurous Marc taking them on a Jeep ride! The local area offers plenty of fabulous places in the Loire Valley to see - you could stay for more than four weeks and wouldn't get bored! We had a great time - Thanks!

Super leuk huis, van alle gemakken voorzien

We hebben een heerlijke week gehad in de Porterie bij Marc & Christine. Het huis is zeer aangenaam, alles is aanwezig voor een fijn verblijf. Het zwembad is heerlijk en ook de privé tuin achter het huisje is een echt cadeau. Marc en Christine zijn erg gastvrij en behulpzaam. Bij aankomst een uitgebreide uitleg gehad van Marc wat we in de omgeving kunnen doen. Houd er wel rekening mee dat het wat afgelegen ligt, dat is fijn voor de rust maar dat wil ook zeggen dat voor een vers stokbrood 's morgens of boodschappen je wel even onderweg bent. Wij vonden het zeer de moeite waard!

Un cadre magnifique et reposant

A la hauteur de nos espérances et de la promesse annoncée sur le site. Tout d'abord l'accueil, chaleureux et bienveillant. Ensuite le cadre, une magnifique abbaye en restauration, dans un espace verdoyant, aéré, superbement entretenu et baignant dans le calme. Un gîte rénové, ayant du caractère, de la personnalité et très bien équipé. Merci encore à Christine et Marc Antoine pour leur accueil, leurs délicates attentions, leurs précieuses suggestions de visites.

Love this place!!!

We had a wonderful stay in this authentic French gite! Marc and Christine are such excellent hosts. Marc and his son took us on a Jeep ride through the countryside to show us the sites and Marc also spent over an hour with a map showing us all sorts of things to do in the Loire Valley. Villandry is a must if you love gardens. We really enjoyed visiting with Marc and Christine in the evening and felt very privileged to be able to explore the whole Abbaye and see the view from the tower. Our gite even had its own private back yard with a 2 person garden swing where I drank my coffee every morning and wine in the evening. We would love to return one day!

Una meravigliosa abbazia mediovale nella Loira

Soggiorno veramente splendido. La Porterie, l'Abbazia e il contesto paesaggistico in cui è inserita sono molto suggestivi. L'ambiente è curato, ben tenuto e provvisto di tutto, il luogo affascinanante e misterioso e la compagnia del propietario, Marc-Olivier, sempre sollecita, cortese e generosa. Si è rivelato una guida esperta, simpaticissima e piena di umorismo, prodiga di informazioni e di dettagli interessantissimi. Vacanza da ripetere senz'altro. Un grande grazie a Marc-Olivier e sua moglie Alessandro

Amazing stay. Loved every minute. Will definitely be returning.

If you want something special and unusual yet with all the comforts of the less unique destinations, then this is the place for you. So quiet, peaceful and beautiful. After a hectic year this was just what the doctor ordered. The abbey is simply beautiful. The restoration been done is just amazing. The sunset from the top of the tower is indescribable. Or just watch the deer come out of the nearby forest at dusk. Almost doesn't sound real yet this is what we experienced. The gite is quite modern inside with everything you could want yet retaining the charm of an old cottage. Kichen is very well equipped with everything you could need. Bathroom is lovely, bed very comfortable. Swimming pool right on the doorstep. My favourite part though is your own private garden with apple and pear trees that Marc (the owner) encourages you to make the most of. Marc and Christine are lovely hosts. Marc spent over an hour with a map telling us about all the best local restaurants and things to see. On the first morning he brought us in his restored Belgian army jeep to the local bakery and gave us a tour on the way back of the area. We also enjoyed a very detailed tour with all the history of the abbey and Yul Brynner connection. We also enjoyed some aperitifs on our last night. I know we shall return and would highly recommend this to anybody looking for a unique and peaceful holiday experience.

Een unieke plek, zeer authentiek en toch van alle gemakken voorzien

Een unieke, zeer rustige plek in een prachtige streek. Een landelijk ingericht portiershuisje bij de abdij met een grote tuin met allerlei fruitbomen. Genoeg privacy en er is een mooi gezamenlijk zwembad. Niet te vergeten; zeer hartelijke eigenaren die je graag alles vertellen over de historie van de prachtige abdij. Zeer de moeite waard!

Gîte très calme et confortable. Accueil très sympathique

Gîte très bien décoré et très frais avec ses murs épais ( très apprécié avec la canicule). Piscine de grande taille et qui permet de se rafraîchir après les visites. Tout cela dans un cadre médiéval et reposant. Beaucoup de châteaux à voir à proximité. Accueil extrêmement chaleureux. Je recommande ce gîte.

Ein perfekter Urlaub mit tollen Gastgebern

Das Klostergut liegt abgelegen aber dennoch gut zu erreichen um die Loire Schlösser zu besichtigen. Die Wohnungen sind sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Ein eigener Garten steht einem zur Verfügung. Die Gastgeber geben einem Ausflustipps. Und der Swimmingpool ist ein Traum.
