Du får hela huset, 3 tunnland av privatlivet, en fantastisk utsikt, hängmatta på bluff och alla bekvämligheter du behöver. Huset var specialbyggda av oss, och har en öppen planlösning. Det stora sovrummet vetter mot bergen och fantastisk utsikt! Har vi redan nämna det? Möblerna är alla helt nya, och inredningen är helt Alaskan. Du kommer att vara utanför misshandlad banan, men inom räckhåll för en stor del av storheten Alaska har att erbjuda!

Lovely cabin with a great view

Very nice, modern, clean, comfortable cabin with large windows facing a stunning view of the mountains. Full kitchen and washer and dryer. We enjoyed the fire pit overlooking the river. The location was private in a beautiful setting. We would definitely rent again. Highly recommended.

Great stay in Gakona

We had a great stay here using it as a home base for visiting Wrangell St. Elias National Park. Great house with great views. The process and communication was great. The only downside was that there were tons of mosquitos while we were there so we couldn’t do as much outside, but the house was great

Great stay

It is very hard to find a place to stay near the park. The log cabin is up to date, perfectly clean and has incredible views. A great spot!

Comfortable stay

Area was nice, enough space. Couldn’t use the outside space as the yard needed mowed and there were so many mosquitoes we could barely make it to the car.

Gakona Beautiful Views

Great place to stay. Beautiful cabin and grounds. Fantastic views of the mountains across the river. Remote location. There is a small brewery very nearby. Drove to go hiking in the National Park. Would definitely recommend this property for a stay.

Mt Drum Views

Our stay was great! We had clear views from Mt Drum just outside the back windows and plenty of space. It was great to have a couple of nights to cook hot meals after moving between a few hotels around Alaska. It was great to be just a few minutes down the road from the Wrangell St. Elias NP visitor center as well. We will definitely be interested to stay again!

Wonderful Stay in Gakona

My dad and I spent a couple nights here and it was excellent! The house was clean and easy to find, and Sandy was a great host with excellent communication. The location is private, and that view of Mount Drum is simply spectacular! Do note that if you come in the summer, there are quite a few mosquitos who will try to enter the house or get into your car, so be leery of that. But that's Alaska! If you are looking for a reliable, safe, and comfortable stay in some of the most beautiful mountain country in the world, I would highly recommend this cabin!

Beautiful view

Enjoyed the house and the view. Mosquitoes are a problem. We enjoyed walking down the road to the home-based Gakona Brewery where you can have a beer and conversation with Eddie and any locals who happen to be there.

Exceeded Expectations!!

What a little gem. The views were magical and cabin was cozy and comfortable. Only regret... we didnt bring binocular to get a closer look at the moose on Copper River. Yes, there was moose down from the bluff!! Big shout out to Gakona Lodge for filling our bellies with quality food and exceptional hospitality. All around experience 11 out of 10.

Shangra la didn’t disappoint

This cabin is more like a house. Very comfortable, nicely stocked kitchen, washer and dryer! What more could you ask for? Beautiful location with animals in the area and a stunning northern light display on our last morning. Perfect! We were even welcomed by a sweet friendly cat. ☺️

Forty years celebration

We will be married 40 years in September. This stop was part of our trip. The hosts were married on the bluff 25 years ago. I was re-proposed to on the bluff. Of course I said yes! I will highly recommend this place to others. It was beautiful. Remember future summer guest, summers in Alaska come with mosquitoes!!

We very much enjoyed our stay at this home. The views are spectacular, and there were even 4 eagles who put on an air show for us off the cliff in their backyard. Only suggestion I would have (as I would suggest for so many areas of Alaska at this time of year) is bring LOTS of Bug dope!

Views that take your breath away

We had such a relaxing time at Shangri La we didn’t feel like exploring! We loved the cabin, but the views you just can’t take your eyes off the horizon. Even on cloudy days the river valley is enchanting. We sat on the cliff side benches and table and enjoyed every moment. We also cooked meals and enjoyed the view from dining table. We would be back in a heartbeat!

Amazing view!

The view of Mt. Drum and the Wrangell St. Elias range was amazing. We were extremely lucky to have beautiful weather almost every day. The house was clean and well organized. We loved the quiet and solitude. It was close to Copper Center where we went salmon fishing with Salmon Grove. Unfortunately, the mosquitos were in full force this year which affected our ability to be outside. Saw a large wolf one morning run through our yard. We also saw a coyote and many bald eagles. Great stay!

Secluded & Quiet

Very nice property in a fantastic location if you like very rural, which we do! Home has everything you need and overall is in very good condition. You can tell it's looked after well, however we did find the front of the house slanting considerably, which took a bit of getting use to. There had been a bit of confusion with manager going out of town so we made up the bed and straightened up a bit, which I don't believe is the norm. Young man came by very apologetic. Overall I would recommend this property for a very peaceful getaway the owners have supplied everything you need for a great stay.

Copper River base camp

Last year w myself and my son and son in law spent a week at the Copper River Princess Lodge approximately 25 miles South of the cabin, Our family had used several VRBO homes over the last year in California. I knew this was the type of vacation base that we would favor over a hotel stay for more than a week.Was I right !!!???. This was the perfect place to be. We took trips to Valdez for glacier tours, we drove to McCarthy on the long windy, bumpy road in the rain, Went to Tok on a day trip. Our fishing guide from Last year, Brandon , from Copper River Guides took us on an incredible rafting ride down the Klutina river,an unbelievable trip altogether,Saw many wild animals and enjoyed the local folk for their candor and knowledge. The first night at the cabi , the northern lights appeared off the cliff on the east side of the cabin, I got some spectacular photos on time lapse on my camera. LeaAnn next door took incredible care for any problems that came up.. Thank you again Sandy for providing a once in a lifetime location to explore your amazing state. T. Sloan

National park visit

Beautiful location, comfortable log cabin setting overlooking the river. This is not a 4 seasons, but if you are ok with ruffing it a bit its great.

My husband and I met in South America, I moved to Alaska in 1994 and our adventures have continued to this day. We built this place while living in a tent on the property in 1999. We got married (on the property) during the summer of construction and lived here for 4 years. We moved across the state for work in an even more remote place, but our hearts still live here! We maintain close relationships with the great folks in Gakona! We have never rented this to tourists before last summer, but as travelers and adventurers ourselves, we know this is an outstanding place to base your Alaskan adventures from! The Wrangell St. Elias National park, the Nabesna Road, McCarthy, and Valdez are all destinations you can reach while staying at our place. Salmon fishing is within two miles!

You'll have tv and wi-fi, cell phone towers are near-by. There is river rafting and king salmon fishing within minutes on the Gulkana and Klutina Rivers. Just down the road is the best restaurant in the Copper Basin, the historic Carriage House. You will be on the door step of Wrangell St. Elias National Park, the largest park in the nation. We can hook you up with local deals and incredible flightseeing!
