fantastic able to feed some animals (lamas and sheep) Have a bath outside at dusk. comfy little cabin for out last stay befor heading back home. highly rec ommend. I was having trouble with my emails and we didnt recieve directions...but we found it. what a lovely night.

Our overnight stay.

What an amazing wee place to stay. Really clean and tidy. Welcoming, warm (heater was on for us) and inviting. Bed was so comfortable! We didnt get to use the outside bath, due to weather, but on clear night it would have been amazing.

Beautiful getaway, highly recommended.

Quiet peaceful getaway. Beautiful outlook, Cute little hut with everything you need. The cheeky Alpacas will give you some laughs. Night sky is lit up with stars. I would highly recommend visiting.

A Perfect Hideaway Place to Stay!

This was just the most awesome place to stay in! The quietness and solitude is so good for the soul! But the town is 10 minutes away if you prefer the delights of sightseeing, eating out, and soaking in the historical atmosphere of the Place! The sheep and the Alpacas were simply delightful! We were also fortunate enough to see several yellow eyed penguins at the nearby beach and meet a lovely warden Julie who knew a lot about them! We also got to see a little owl too at the farm! A first for us! Jennie was the perfect hostess! It was lovely chatting to her during our stay there! Thank you for making us so comfortable and cosy! We intend to visit again in the not too distant future!

great, comfy cool lamas

lovely spot. maybe a deck and verandah would be a good addition to give some shelterd outdoor space? I'm sure its great in summery weather as it is — but the weather was not so great when we were there and there isn't really an indoor space to hang out in. otherwise clean tidy lovely and quiet location. The lamas are a hoot.

Brief

This hut is well loved. Alot of care has gone into creating a beautiful stay. A few elements in the decore werent to my taste, however; thats to be expected. The hot water was a good strength and the early morning was well aquainted with gentle mist and alpaca.

Wonderful Place to Stay

Loved 'Shepherd's Rest'! Felt welcomed by Jennie; we were comfortable and well settled. Outdoor bath was a hit, as was being greeted by the friendly alpacas and sheep each morning. Really quiet while still having the town accessible. Would highly recommend for an Omarau stay.

Lovely Shepard’s hut type glamping stay

Lovely little hut with everything you could need for a short stay. Clear instructions and nice touches including chocolates and bath robes. Alpaca by the bath were very entertaining!

Rustic farmstay

A great place to stay if you are looking for somewhere different compact and rustic to stay. Would definitely recommend it to anyone seeking some time out and fresh air away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Outstanding experience

What a complete gem. The hut was so tastefully and comfortably appointed with great little touches like board games, alpaca food and welcome chocolates. The location and views were delightful, so close to Oamaru but with a lovely rural outlook. Highly recommend for a romantic getaway.

Private Rural tranquility

This Shepherds Hut set up was even better than advertised on this site. Check In was absolutely no hassle, we felt very provided for, all linen and toileteries were supplied. Was dubious about compost toilet as we had never experienced one, but it was completely hassle free, so don't let that put you off. Our hosts left us to our own devices, it felt very private, but Jen is there if you need anything. The alpacas were very friendly and didnt spit on us so we felt very lucky. Food is provided to feed them if you want which was a nice touch. We plan on coming back and would recommend to anyone looking for a chill private place that is close to town 11/10

Our family has have been hosting B&B guests for almost 6 years and The Shepherd's Rest is the latest addition to our farm, giving guests privacy and their own unique space.
We rear and fatten bulls and run a small flock of sheep, a lifestyle we love. Apart from working we also enjoy gardening, hiking, cooking and carpentry.

Varför vÀrden valde detta boende

We love that while we live in a rural location the town of Oamaru is only a 5 - 10 minutes drive away! We get country living with the convenience of town and all its amenities.
