Disappointing stay / rude owners
I was very excited for our weekend in Philadelphia. While the house was spacious and well-located, as advertised, when we arrived the air conditioning wasn't working in 1/2 of the house. It was July in Philadelphia, so this was completely untenable. While the property manager was incredibly helpful and nice, the owners of the property, who are based in London, failed to respond in a timely manner as they went to sleep. They also failed to give the property manager the authority to schedule maintenance for the next day, so my friends and I had to go to sleep on our first of 3 nights in an uncomfortably hot house with no clarity on next steps. The owners were rude and dismissive to me when I expressed discontent for how this was handled, and I proceeded to spend a large portion of the trip coordinating specialists when issue after issue popped up: the HVAC, and later, a leak that resulted from the fix. Overall, I felt disrespected and unsupported as a guest, and almost had to book emergency hotel rooms as a backup. After my stay, I expressed my dissatisfaction and asked to be refunded for half of my stay. The owners came back with a 1,000 refund, which is only about half of one night's stay. They were unwilling to negotiate further. I would not come back to this property or work with these owners again.
