Mormor och Grampas privata oas. Min farbror Dean Hendryx valde denna duplex 3/4 av vägen ner till Summerwinds Court (11332A) cul de sac eftersom det är nära Ft Myers Beach (4 miles) och Sanibel Island (15 miles). Korsningen San Carlos Boulevard och Summerlin Road ligger bara några kvarter bort. Se promenad genom videon. SOMMARPRISERNA OTROLIGA! Detta har en egen uppvärmd privat pool, TV och WIFI. Men du sitter inte fast i trafik från stötfångare till stötfångare. Du kan ta dig några kilometer till stranden eller ta dig till shopping, golf och inlandsattraktioner. Åk vagnen till stranden i 50 cent. Gå till glassbutiken eller frukostrestaurangerna. När vi ärvde fastigheten hade Dean visat min familj alla möjligheter för vårträning Boston Red Sox och Minnesota Twins baseball, cykling, djurliv, skalning, båtliv, golf, turer med airboat, skaldjursrestauranger och där huvudet babbar Reggae-musik ner på Lanai Kai. Beached Whale & The Salt Crab har utmärkt mat och bra nattlig musik. Vi åkte till öarna och skalade där få människor går. En djuphavsbåt med namnet "The Getaway" tog oss med på en avkopplande djup havsfiske. Och om du är lite vild, ta "Key West Express" på en snabb tur till Key West för en dag eller två. Baseball vårträningsspel med Boston Red Sox och Minnesota Twins. Handla fabriken på väg till Sanibel.
När du är klar kom tillbaka till Summerwinds Hideaway. Cookout vid poolen. Grannskapet utanför är "typisk Florida". Det är INTE ett gated community. Den visade i poolen vetter mot en pensionär husvagnspark på baksidan. Utmärkt frukost några kvarter bort. Det finns ett staket, träd och skjul som ger viss integritet runt poolen.
Köket är välfylt med allt du behöver. Ett stort vardagsrum med en hopfällbar soffa ser ut mot poolen. Det stora sovrummet har eget badrum, badkar och dusch. Ett annat litet rum har en ny drottningssäng. Ett annat badrum kommer in från poolen med en fin dusch. Det finns en tvättmaskin, torktumlare och frys i tvättstugan. Denna plats fungerar för en liten familj eller kanske två par. Inga husdjur är tillåtna bara för att skärmen i poolen skulle förstöras omedelbart.

Nice place to stay ….

It needs remodeling, but it's a quiet and comfortable place. The only thing I find a little more expensive is the cleaning fee, and we have to wash our towels before leaving. I think that's part of the fee; every time I've stayed at different beach rentals, it's included. I would return later when they finish remodeling.

2025 Vacation

Property was very clean and family friendly. Pool was clean and perfect for a family vacation. Booking process was extremely simple and instructions to enter and leave property were very easy to follow. A huge thank you from the whole family to the owners on a perfect vacation without hassles!!

Great Spring Training Trip

Had a great time staying with family for Spring Training. House was clean. Had a good amount of towels for the pool which was warm and awesome. Cooked breakfast every morning with provided pans. Kitchen was well stocked. Quick communication with the owner, easy check in. Would definitely stay here again. Q

Great stay

This was a cute little duplex. The owners have been remodeling and there were a few things not finished but nothing that prevented us from enjoying the property and the heated pool. Communication was good with the owner. The only “draw back” for us was that this was a duplex which I didn’t realize when we rented and the owner lives next door.. It was a tiny bit awkward feeling but the people were super nice! I would probably stay again.

Perfect little drive to the beach

Overall, it was great, older kids loved the pool! Location is perfect to get away from the downtown traffic, but close enough to the beach, plenty of stores near the house. Bedrooms are outdated, but this did not bother us that much. Lots of ants inside the house! by the entryway and around the sink. Have to wash your dishes immediately or sink will be swarmed with ants.

Summerwinds are Blowin In

This is a great house. Heated pool was a hit with plenty of AC inside. Strategically located near Ft. Myers Beach and Sanibel Island. Will book this place again the next time I’m in the area! Try El Sabor De Puebla (past Love Boat Ice Cream (also Fantastic) but on the left hand side). Not only is it 110% Authentic, it’s 110% Delicious.

The house was as we expected, a bit dated, but comfy and safe. Having our own pool was a huge plus, plenty of in and out door space, and Gary was quick to respond to messages:)

Location was great

Day one. Front door lock that you enter the entry pin in was broken. Talked to Gary (everyone is backed up they can’t get out there until Thursday). Thursday was our 12 yr anniversary and we got to sit in the house all day waiting for someone to show up. They never did. Air conditioning doesn’t really keep up. Pool patio is covered in river pebbles. Looks good until you realize the epoxy that held them in has gone and tiny rocks jab in your feet. Smaller room had an open twisted tea can under the bed. Can was half full and we can only hope it was tea and not piss. Dryer heats but takes multiple times. Front door area when it rains the water comes in under door and runs out to garage makes tile slick in area. Sad part I could have lived with everything on here except the front door. Having no way to secure your belongings on a week long trip sucks.

Sufficient and priced right

The best thing about staying here is the pool and the neighborhood. for the price I can't really complain. Gary was very responsive to some initial issues we had, but then when we had a problem with the AC there wasn't great communication, although the problem was fixed. The locks on the entry doors and the garage door opener(?) did not work properly. It's not a super fancy place but we enjoyed staying there. Possibly slightly haunted....

Perfect spring vacation spot

This has been one of our best vacation. We would have stayed longer if we could. Maybe next time. The location was really perfect for us. 10 minutes drive to the beaches. All day parking costs $20 and there is plenty of beach space. It also close to the main roads so you can easily travel around. The house is perfect for a small family with two bedrooms. It is well equipped. Has everything you may need including beach chairs and umbrella, hats, fishing pols and so forth. However, the most important part was the covered patio and the private pool. This was the first time we rented a house with a pool and it was the best part or the house. We ate outside and swam in the mornings and evenings. We would definitely rent this house again if we have a chance.

Gary W Skillestad is part owner/manager along with my sister Sue. We inherited this property from my Uncle Dean Hendryx and Aunt Beverly. They taught my family to love the mild weather and attractions of the Gulf Coast. After a commercial illustration career, creating and running a 3 location childcare center for 10 years and raising 4 children I'm looking forward to retirement years. I now have a girlfriend, four granddaughters and am on social security. But it looks like I'll continue to work for awhile. I've started GWSkilly's Insurance for Medicare & other licensed in WI, MN, IL, IA, NC, & FL.. Therefore, come share our duplex. Take care of it and have a blast. Call with any questions.

Varför värden valde detta boende

My father Wayne Skillestad started out by retiring in a modest mobile home in nearby Indian Creek Park. It had great amenities but was cramped and scary during storms. Uncle Dean was also there. But Dean got the chance to move up into a more solid home. This gave us our roots in Ft Myers.

Vad som gör detta boende unikt

Central, convenient location to everything yet just out of the bumper to bumper beach life. You can even walk a couple blocks, get on a trolley and ride to the beach if you want. Great home base in Summer when rates are incredibly low. Look for your retirement dream property while staying here. Plenty of nearby seafood restaurants, bars, grocery stores, shops and great miniature golf places. Go see spring training for the Twins and Red Sox.
