Fantastic holiday house

Great house with lots of space and areas outside to sit, drink eat and relax. The pool area was the standout, great size and games to play with pool and ping pong.. enough to keep the family amused all day :-) Thankyou !

June and Les were excellent hosts. We had 14 people stay at their farm house and it easily accommodated all of us with plenty of amenities and towels, bedding for all. This is like a little resort with outdoor games, a beautiful pool and so much space that we were not cramped for space. 5 star VRBO and would stay there again when visiting the area.

Family Holiday

We stayed here for a week in August 2024. The property was great - it was so good to be able to be together as a family in one place. The house is well equipped, particularly the kitchen which has plenty of anything you might need. The outside space was amazing and just what we needed to keep a wide age range of individuals occupied. Plenty of activities to choose from including badmington, table tennis, bikes and of course the pool. The surrounding area is rural and peaceful - a great place to rest and relax. Whilst the Boulangerie and shops are only a few minutes away by car. The weather was good for us which was the icing on the cake. Leslie and June were great hosts and were quick to respond when we needed any help. Overall it was a great week for us and everyone enjoyed themselves, thank you.

Family gathering

Pool area and grounds are lovely. House was pleasant and characterful but bedrooms very hot and not air conditioned ( rather a heatwave). The property worked well for our varied ages. Kitchen was rather tired and aga and oven difficult to use. It would have been useful to have some basic instructions and information on the house, the area, refuse collection etc. The hosts were kind and were there when we arrived to show us round.

Great size for more than one family group

The villa is set in massive grounds which are great for children. There are plenty of amenities like table tennis and a large pool which everyone enjoyed. The house is well provisioned with cleaning materials, towels etc and a lovely welcome basket of local produce was waiting for us on arrival. A number of kitchen appliances need updating including hob and ovens. One shower leaked and one air con dripped onto the floor. With 12 of us the seating area outside the kitchen needed levelling to prevent anyone accidentally falling off their chair. Our hosts communicated really well. One suggestion would be some recommendations, maps and leaflets on local sites. There is far more than I expected to do in the local area and it wasn’t too busy. Overall though we really enjoyed our time .

Lovely secluded holiday house

We had an absolutely fantastic time in the house. The grounds are large and pretty and a lovely place to get away from it all. The house is in a secluded location but supermarkets and the village of Bessines-sur-Gartempe are close enough to get supplies easily. The grounds and facilities are perfect for all the family and it was very well provisioned. The pool in particular was very popular with the younger members but being gated and only 2m deep at the deepest point gave us peace of mind. We enjoyed great weather and often ate outside, played badminton, table table and pool, all of which had the equipment provided. Plenty of equipment was available to cook meals for our large group. The beach at Lac de saint pardoux was lovely and we took advantage of the kayaks, pedaloes and paddle boards, Go Ape style adventure park and water park/swimming pool. We barely visited anywhere else! Lac du Sagnet is walkable distance from the house and good for running around if you like that sort of thing. There is also a small beach there and a bar. All round a great holiday location enjoyed by all of our group. Thank you Les and June!

This is a nice quiet villa / gite

13 of us, 8 adults and 5 under 8! Plus Wilson the Labradoodle (doggy). Tribe arrived and impressed by the size of the house and grounds, and eyes on stalks from children at the pool! Arrival was initially worrying as the entrance is through a narrow gap in the trees, OK, but tight for the 4X4. Downstairs in main house worked really well with large kitchen diner, which fed all 13 easily – the table was big enough! The air conditioned lounge was a haven in the 35+ degree heat (it was really hot!) and also for watching DVD’s for the kids (good selection provided). Bedrooms a slightly mad layout, with stairs all over the place, but worked really well for the four families. However, in the exceptional heat this year, room on top floor was too hot to sleep in, so the children came lower down in the house to parent’s bedroom. Fans in the bedrooms (which are not air-conditioned) would have helped everyone. Bedrooms served their purpose otherwise. Pool was used from 9am to 6pm non-stop by children. The noise from happy children was great the hear! Plenty of room, seating, loungers etc around the pool for parents and grandparents to sit and watch read sleep etc. Clever provision of a toilet and a little kitchen with fridge freezer allowed for cold beer and ice at all times. Lunch everyday by the pool (chairs and table under canopy allowed this). Idyllic. It is secluded (good for the noise created by kids) but civilization is 10 mins away by car, 15min by bikes (supplied). Local area has all that you need. June and Les where very accommodating, organising taxi’s to airport for one of the families. Always around to help if needed. This is a nice quiet villa / gite – great for large family or group and the pool worked brilliantly. When we asked the grandkids ‘what was the best bit?’ – they said ‘everything’. Good feedback from them! We hope to go back soon!

Week end entre cousins

Super week-end dans cette demeure en pleine nature bien équipée et bien entretenu . L'espace divertissements avec piscine, billard, badminton,ping pong et des chemins de randonnée à proximite sont un atout incontournable. Les propriétaires sont arrangeants et nous avons été trÚs bien accueillis.

Super séjour

Tout est conforme au descriptif. La maison est trÚs agréable, tout y est prévu dans les moindres détails. L'environnement est idyllique, il n'y a pas d'autre mot. Malgré une météo trÚs moyenne: 15° environ, nous avons pu profiter de la piscine trÚs bien chauffée (29,30°). Juste une toute petite remarque déjà existante dans les précédents commentaires : dans les chambres du 2Úme étage, les rideaux des velux sont inefficaces et les matelas ne sont pas confortables.

Un week-end familial

Cela fait maintenant 3 ans que nous venons Ă  BESSINES pour un regroupement familial et nous en sommes toujours aussi satisfaits. Nous y Ă©tions venus en Ă©tĂ© (mois de juillet), c'Ă©tait parfait et cette annĂ©e nous avons essayĂ© le printemps et c'est encore plus beau, la maison Ă©tant perdue au milieu de la campagne limousine en fleurs. Tout est lĂ  pour que nous passions un super sĂ©jour. Nous avons grandement profitĂ© de la piscine chauffĂ©e, de la table de ping-pong et avons rĂ©ussi Ă  manger dehors tous les jours, midi et soir ! Bref, je recommande vivement cette adorable maison hyper bien Ă©quipĂ©e oĂč il fait bon vivre...

Maison trÚs agréable et trÚs bien placée.

Tout est prĂ©vu dans cette maison pour qu’on y soit bien. Grands et petits trouvent de nombreuses activitĂ©s. Seul hic: la Clim n’était prĂ©vue que dans une seule piĂšce et ne fonctionnait pas. Difficile avec la chaleur qu’on vient de subir.

Great getaway for a quiet stay close to Paris

Such a lovely and entertaining place to get away from it all for a week. Great wifi and well equipped. Huge property and so much to explore, within the house, the grounds, and all around. The host, Houghes, was simply the best, most helpful, most accommodating host. We had some issues of our own and he bent over backwards to help us out. Always there with a helpful suggestion or to meet our needs. Many thanks.
