Den lilla staden Aberfeldy är åtta miles away och den pittoreska byn Kenmore i spetsen för floden Tay är bara sex miles. Glen Lyon, Skottlands längsta och vackraste dalgång sträcker West i över 35 miles och silvriga band av floden Lyon ekon konturerna i byn eftersom det Vender sin väg österut att ansluta sig till Tay. Quiet and peaceful village

This was a wonderful cottage that fit our girls group perfectly. We enjoyed the country walks and the Highland cows.

Perfect getaway at the base of the highlands

We spent three nights in this lovely place. It was comfortable, tidy, and had everything we needed. The location was perfect for getting a taste of Scotland, away from crowds. Highly recommend.

Fortingall is a lovely village and the the cottage is right next to the church in a courtyard with parking. The cottage is reasonably comfortable, though a little dark

Lovely, homely property in an excellent location

A spacious, characterful property with a cosy wood burning stove. Perfect location for the many hills and walks in the beautiful Loch Tay area. Had a wonderful stay. Would love to come back. Particularly liked that our dog was welcome.

Hidden gem in Glen Lyon

Lovely cottage, all we needed except TV was very old and we could not access subtitles for my partner who has severe hearing loss. Fortingall Hotel just next door, food excellent.

Pleasant but not for cold weather!

Three of us adults were comfortable, but cold. The heating cost of fuel and wood for stove was high and made our comfort stressful. Otherwise, moral was easily accessible, accommodating and pleasant. Thank you, Frederica

New Year at the Byre

Lovely property, very comfortable. We hit snowed in but were well supplied and the surroundings just looked magical. Very friendly neighbours and locals. Would return, a lovely festive break.

A wonderful cottage in a beautiful setting!

We enjoyed every aspect of or stay. The cottage was immaculate and had everything required for an enjoyable stay. The owner and caretaker were only a phone call away and only too happy to help when we had a request for an extra evening stay. Nothing was to much trouble. We would definitely recommend the cottage for exploring the wonderful countryside in the area.

Great beyond all expectation!

Terrific accommodations in a beautiful area of the world. The Byrne was a real joy, perfect in all respects, and we were well cared for by the owner’s representative, Morag. She came to our rescue one night when we had misplaced the house key, and she came without complaint. Words are insufficient to describe our few days in this extraordinary place.

Enjoyable stay

Well since you’re asking! Everything was good, apart from just three things. The freezer didn’t work, the door didn’t close properly. The oven and stove top were questionable; the cool down cycle on the oven was long and loud. The master bed mattress was a bit skinny and quite uncomfortable. Everything else was great.

And not a pig in sight!!!

Fortingall Byre is, as we discovered on talking to the owner during our stay, a converted piggery! We were absolutely delighted with the place when we arrived in the small hours of the morning after a long journey. The owners had been very accommodating about this. The cottage had everything we needed and was in such a beautiful location. Very handy to the pub too! The log burner was very welcome when we returned from our day spent either on the river Tay or watching those on it at the slalom competition at Grandtully. Only wish we could have spent longer there.

All good. Slightly disappointed in the initial impression .. lots of bins outside, dead baskets & weeds in entrance path and in garden at front plus the same in the rear garden, patio full of weeds & garden furniture in need of some love. Spacious property, clean, a little dark with brown being the dominant colour. Welcome milk, tea, coffee, sugar, no welcome pack. Oven needs cleaning. Comfy beds. Bedroom overly garden on the chilly side. Loved the location, Fortingall very beautiful.

Beautiful property in the heart of Scotland

My husband, sister, niece and I stayed a week in The Byre this May. The property is second to none. It is so well appointed, roomy, bright, tastefully decorated and spotless. It has it's own private garden for sitting out or eating a large kitchen and dining area, a very generous living room and comfortable spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. On top of all that it is located in a truly fascinating little village with a lovely little pub and a hotel just a few meters away (It was off season, so we didn't get a chance to make use of the hotel restaurant, but it looked very inviting) instead when not cooking at the property, we ate in both Kenmore and Aberfeldy which are not far from Fortingall. The village is central to so much of Scotland, Glencoe, Pitlochry, The Trossachs, Glasgow and the coast. It is a perfect place for a restful holiday with plenty of room for a family of 4 to 6. I can't recommend it highly enough. Wish I was back there.

WONDERS OF FORTINGALL

We have been touring the UK for 2 months now and this 8 day stop in Fortingall is one of the high points of our journey so far. Julia's cottage felt like home the moment we walked in. Very cozy, warm and everything you would need to feel comfortable and be able to stay in at night and cook your meals. The location is magical and being so close to the oldest tree in Europe and the Fortingall Hotel was a major plus. We went over to the Friday night live music at the Ewe Pub at the Hotel and had a great time. I played golf and fly fished for trout on the River Tummel and Lyon. We went to the Castle Menzies, into Kenmore and Aberfeldy which were both charming villages. Julia was very helpful with all of my questions and the cottage was clean, well stocked and very quiet and private. If we are ever back in the area, I know where we will be staying. Thank you Julia for sharing you incredible cottage in a special piece of the world with us. Mitch and Beverly

The Byre was converted from a former cattle shed in 2007 along with The Stables, The Salmon House and The Granary in a delightful enclosed courtyard setting. Our home is Perthshire and we adore the tranquility of the area and encouraging visitors to share in the magic and enjoy the countryside.

We love slowing down from the hectic pace of life associated with work and cities. Fortingall is so peaceful and is a superb base for walkers, climbers as well as for those touring around the Scottish Highlands. The Byre is located within a few steps of the Fortingall Hotel, where guests can eat in the restaurant or relax in the cosy bar.
