Very nice appartment

The appartment is nearby to reception and shuttle buses. It was clean and fully equipped.To reach the sea it takes a walk of 10 min. trough the whole resort or go by shuttle (only a few times a day) to a beach called Ponta Preta. Good place for kitesurfer, but for me it was not as great as other places for swimming and snorkeling.

Home away from home

Jeanettes apartment has everything you need, a home away from home. Located a short distance from the main town of Santa Maria - shuttle bus, taxis or a 15-20 minute walk. Great for a quiet stay away from the main hustle and bustle. Any issues are dealt with and responded to quickly from both Jeanette and Stuart and Lizy all very informative.

Lovely apartment in a really nice complex

Your apartment is great we really felt at home there. It's very roomy and comfortable and had everything we needed. The beds are comfortable and there is plenty of wardrobe space and hangers. We did not need the air conditioning as it was cool enough in the evening. The fly screen in the bedroom is a great addition as you can open the door for fresh air without worrying about possible mozzies or flies coming in. The complex is very nice and well kept and clean. The staff working there are also very nice people and can't do enough for you. The Lantana pool area is spotless, lots of sunbeds and nice and quiet. At the start of the holiday we thought that we were too far out from Santa Maria as we went in there every night, either walked (wind permitting), free bus or taxi. But as the holiday went on we thought it was an advantage being outside Santa Maria as we could then walk into the town in the day for something to do. The transfer from the airport was seamless and Lizzy was waiting for us to show us around the apartment. Your welcome pack was a real bonus and very, very welcome. You have thought of everything that someone could possibly need to start off their holiday. We will be going back to Sal next year and if your apartment is vacant for the dates we want we will definitely book yours.

Wonderful two weeks in Vila Verde - snow free!

The apartment was very spacious and had everything we needed. We really enjoyed lounging around by the pool and going to the Quiz Nights, met some nice people too. The live music at the Sports Bar, the Cape Verdean evening on the first night we arrived and the bakery / ice cream shop on site were great and the Happy Hour prices at the Cactus and Sports Bar were good if you wanted to try some cocktails as well. Thanks to Jeanette for giving us the use of the owners discount card too. The shuttle bus service was really handy and we liked Ponta Preta beach because it was quieter and you could use the sunbeds and get lovely salads and drinks at the beach bar. In Santa Maria we had a delicious meal at Chez Pastis and found a nice Cape Verdean restaurant round the corner from Tam Tam. Lizzy was really helpful and accessible throughout the stay. We didn't need to contact her much but the arrival and airport transfer went really smoothly and she booked an island tour and arranged a mid-holiday clean of the apartment for us while we were out on the tour. It was nice to have books and playing cards in the apartment for when we wanted to stay in and Lizzy pointed us in the direction of Cazu Supermarket so we could do some cooking for ourselves. All the staff in the complex were friendly and helpful and the locals too. I think the only exception to that was some of the younger taxi drivers are a bit pushy when it comes to what they charge and with this in mind I'd advise the transfer to the airport when leaving would be best arranged through Lizzy as well, with an agreement on the price when booked. (Lizzy offered to do this for us, but we said not to worry, I'd advise people to take her up on this offer.)

Es ist nicht alles Gold was glänzt.

Am Flughafen wartete ein Fahrer auf mich. Im Resort angekommen wurde ich vom Vermieter erwartet und in die Wohnung begleitet. Im Kühlschrank waren kalte Getränke. Das fand ich sehr aufmerksam. Die Wohnung ist auf den ersten Blick modern ausgestattet und sauber. Dann zeigt sich, dass Mängel nicht beseitigt werden. Die Balkontür fällt beim Öffnen fast raus, der Syphon im Bad rostet und ist undicht. Keine neuen Mängel. Ich bin nur eingeschränkt mobil und habe gezielt eine Wohnung mit Aufzug gewählt. Strandnähe hätte ich gut gefunden. 20 Minuten Fußweg, wenn man stramm geht, ist nicht strandnah, bei eingeschränkter Mobilität noch weniger. Der Shuttlebus ist unzuverlässig. Hauptverkehrsmittel ist Taxi. Die meisten Fahrten kosten 5,- /500 Escudos. Die Anlage ist wie ausgestorben. Kein WLAN in den Wohnungen, Ladenlokale sind verwaist, massig Wohnungen auch. Zum Teil bröckelt es bereits hier und da. Das Foto lässt einen Pool vermuten, der als Gemeinschaftspool auch ausgewiesen ist. Dieser gammelt jedoch ohne Wasser vor sich hin. Trotzdem war mir mitgeteilt worden, dass ein pool pass für mich bereit liegt. Wozu? Zum Ausfegen? Fazit ist: Nette und saubere Wohnung. Kein Besen/Kehrblech. Mülltonnen nichtgesehen. Alles andere ist nicht das, was ich aufgrund der Beschreibung und der Fotos habe erwarten können und auch bezahlt habe. Das hat den Erholungswert erheblich gemindert. Appartamento con tutte le comodità, nuovo e pulito. La proprietaria anche tramite del personale locale fornisce un servizio cortese e tempestivo in qualsiasi momento. Collocato in un ampio residence nuovo, sicuro e silenzioso con tutti i servizi essenziali (supermarket, bar, ristorante, servizi di collegamento). Si possono raggiungere in 10/15 minuti molte belle e ben servite spiagge. Da rilevare che il wifi in casa sostanzialmente non funziona e che si deve andare nelle aree comuni nonchè che la posizione a differenza di quello evidenziato in questo e altri siti non è in Santa Maria ma in un area fuori; Santa Maria si raggiunge in 15/20 minuti a piedi, con il pulmino della struttura o con il taxi.

Ein toller Urlaub auf der Insel Sal in Vila Verde Apartment Lantana F202

Wie versprochen wurden wir am Flughafen erwartet und zu unserem Apartment gebracht. Es war alles sehr gut organisiert sogar für das Frühstück war alles eingekauft, da wir mitten in der Nacht ankamen.. Das Apartment war sehr sauber und super eingerichtet. Es war alles vorhanden, was man braucht. Sogar ein Staubsauger, der hier in der sandigen Gegend beim sauberhalten alles einfacher macht. Die Verständigung mit Jeanette und Lizzy war ausgezeichnet. Wir bekamen Bettwäsche zum Wechseln und auch ausreichend Handtücher. Für Selbstverpfleger war die Küche mit allem ausgestattet was man braucht. Auf der Terasse war zusätzlich noch ein Sofa bequemer geht es nicht. Wir hatten wirklich alles, was wir brauchten, um uns gut zu erholen. Wir brauchten nur eine Mail an Jeanette zu schreiben und alles wurde so schnell wie möglich erledigt auch eine Zwischenreinigung einfach super. Diese Apartment hat uns nicht zum Letztem Male gesehen. Sollten wir gesund bleiben werden wir auf jeden Fall wiederkommen. Im Supermercado ,der jetzt zum Hotel gehört gab es alles zu kaufen. Den frischen Fisch haben wir uns immer vom Pier in Santa Maria geholt. Auch der Strand im nahegelegenen Ponta Preta war sauber und die Strandbar bietet Getränke und gutes Essen an. Lovely holiday

This was a lovely apartment, we really enjoyed our stay here, shame there was only the one restaurant open which wasn’t brilliant, but the shuttle bus and Taxi service to Santa Maria was really good. The internet at the resort was down for about 5 days which was a pain and the swimming pool at our block was out of action which meant we had to go across to the other area for the pool bar and occasionally this was really busy with no free sun beads. Apart from that we really enjoyed our stay here and thank you to Lizzie who was really helpful.

Great Island

This was a great place to stay. Perfect location to everything we needed and wanted. Lizy Stuart were the best...not a problem on solved. You want the beach you got it at Ponta Preta about a 15 minute walk. Santa Maria is also a15 minute walk. Internet at Cactus Bar. Great place!!!!

Another great stay

Another great holiday at Jeanette's apartment. The airport transfer went really smoothly and the apartment was once again spotlessly clean when we arrived. The welcome pack is such a huge bonus when you get there and was very much appreciated. The apartment has everything you could possibly need. This year we were able to take advantage of the fly screen it the bedroom. Neither of us like air con so at night when it was hot we were able to close the shutters and leave the window open with the fly screen down so we weren't bothered by any mozzies. The sofa on the balcony is also a great addition. We used the pool area practically everyday which is kept very clean and they are constantly cleaning the pool itself. There is a free bus into Santa Maria but we didn't use it this year as we enjoyed the walk into Santa Maria in the evenings and then got a taxi back. This is the second time at Jeanette's apartment and we have no doubt at all in our minds that should we go back to Sal in the future it will be Jeanette's apartment we will be looking to book.

Wonderful, safe and comfortable apartment / complex.

We stayed three weeks in Jeanette's spacious and ideally located apartment. The communications with her prior, during and after our stay were prompt and accurate. Everything described prior to the booking about the apartment was correct. There is an ample supply of cooking pots/pans, plates, glasses, cooking tools, etc. Also bedding/linen/towel supply was more than sufficient, all in high, good standard. Her local representatives Lizy and Stuart had prepared the apartment, welcome basket and the transportation from the airport as promised. Vila Verde is a very safe and beautiful complex. In Lantana complex, where we stayed, there is a good pool with many sun chairs. If one needs action and/or refreshments during the day, nearby complex Cactus pool bar offers that. Pizzas from the complex bakery were delicious and the sport bar in the Lantana building served tasty cocktails. There is also a small supermarket, which offers daily basic items, in the Calistemon building. The walk to Santa Maria took about 20 minutes (15 on the very windy day). Free shuttle bus runs few times a day there, but appeared to be quite full always. A taxi ride costs 3 euro and there are always taxis stand-by in front of the reception area (Cactus building). There are several small, mostly Chinese operated supermarkets in Santa Maria for the self caterers. The fish lovers will find very reasonable priced fresh fish on every day at the jetty in Santa Maria. There are many restaurants in Santa Maria. Some of the locals offering a good value to the money, some non-locals not.

Great location and value for money

This was our second time to Sal and we found the apartment absolutely great! Not only was it brilliant value for money but Jeanette has taken so much time to sort out all the little extra touches... We had a taxi driver waiting for us after getting through the airport and on arrival to Vila Verde we were met by Lizy who took us to the apartment and showed us around and explained the layout of the complex and where amenities were along with how to work the aircon etc. The nicest touch was the fact there was a welcome pack of food when we got there which supplied our breakfasts for the first couple of days! Jeanette had provided us with so much information about the facilities and Santa Maria that you couldn’t go wrong, she’s obviously taken a lot of time to go through anything you could possibly need to know about the island. There are shuttle passes should you need them meaning you can easily get to Ponta Preta and Santa Maria however we preferred to walk there. It was a nice touch that with the shuttle passes you can get free access to sunbeds on Ponta Preta outside Bo Beach Bar. We hope to return to the island next November/December to take advantage of the gorgeous weather and this apartment will be top of our list to stay!!

Excellent spacious apartment 😊

The apartment is spacious, airy & well maintained & extremely clean. It's furnished to a high standard & there was a welcome pack on arrival. It had everything we needed - cooking facilities, washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave, iron & ironing board etc. It's located a short drive from the airport & another short drive, or a 20 minute walk, to Santa Maria the main fishing town on the island. I would highly recommend the apartment & the owner was extremely helpful & approachable.

Perfect holiday in an excellent apartment!

From start to finish was a perfect holiday! Jeanette couldn't have been more helpful answering any queries very promptly prior to our holiday and provided us with excellent information. On arrival we were met at the airport and taken to the apartment where we were then met by Lizy who was so friendly and helpful. She showed us everything we needed to know about the apartment and was always on hand for any queries. The apartment was fantastically furnished and spotless, with everything we could have possibly needed. Beautiful pool, plenty of sun beds with a pool bar. Regular shuttle bus into Santa Maria where there are beautiful beaches and plenty of good restaurants and ice cream parlour! Also plenty of taxis available to take you into town. I was there with my daughter and felt perfectly safe day and night exploring the town, everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Can't wait to return to the beautiful apartment and island!

Perfect, sun instead of snow!

Large apartment, very clean, home from home - everything you need to be comfortable and to fully self cater if you want to. We’ve stayed at many ‘self catering’ apartments where there is not enough equipment to allow you to cater anything but a drink and cold breakfast. Not here, you could live here, there is everything from sieves to juicers, measuring jugs to Tupperware food containers, I won’t list everything but you could cook a 3 course meal and have everything you needed to cook and serve it. We loved that we could still watch our favourite TV programmes (we like Hawaii 5 0, NCIS, Bull, etc) whilst enjoying a takeaway pizza, if after a day sunbathing we didn’t want to be bothered cooking or going out for tea. A game of cards or connect 4 with a glass of wine on the balcony early evening was also great, the owners seem to have thought of everything from a range of DVDs to suit all ages and preferences, books, games, even cool bag and sun chairs so you can head off the beaten track with a picnic if you fancy it. I could go on and on, but suffice to say, an excellent quality apartment in a beautiful location, with an owner who obviously cares if her guests have the best holiday or not, and at a very reasonable rental price, we felt.

Lovely apartment well appointed in quiet location

Jeanette and her contacts in Cape Verde couldn’t have been more helpful. We were picked up at the airport and taken to the apartment which was very clean and there was a lovely welcome pack which was much appreciated. The complex is very quiet which was just what we needed but it is a shame there are not a few more units occupied with restaurants or shops. The people are lovely and beaches perfect. If you need a real rest this is the place to go

Great Christmas Getaway

We reallly enjoyed our stay at villa Verde. The apartment is spacious and has all the amenities you need. The complex is very nice and well set out. The free shuttle bus to Santa Maria is good advantage and runs regular. We had some lovely meals in Santa Maria at chez pastis and le prive. We also enjoyed a days sailing trip and a tour of the island. Sal is a great place and We would definitely stay at Villa Verde again. Emma & Barry Liverpool

Great appartment in Villa Verde

It was a great stay in the appartment with all the luxury as promised, there was even a washing machine. It was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The appartment was situated on a very good spot with downstairs the swimming pool with bar.The airco worked perfect. The owner even arranged a taxi for us to pick us up at the airport. There was also Lizy who did a perfect job as the contactperson in Vila Verde. She bought some grocery for us because the shops were alllready closed when we arrived. We defenitely wil go back again.

Perfect - home away from home

Perfect location for us, away from the hustle and bustle, within walking distance of Santa Maria centre (great now the new road and footpath is finished) within walking distance to Ponta Preta beach, (beautiful beach and quieter than the main beach in Santa Maria) ideal for watching sunsets. The apartment has everything you need, a home from home. The air conditioning is a definite bonus for those who are not used to such humid temperatures. Lizy and Stuart were extremely helpful and informative, they were also available any time should you need them. A perfect holiday for relaxation if you like peace and quiet. There isn't much available on the island (as it is very small) unless you are into watersports, and just relaxation, however, it is improving all the time. There are beach buggies, quads, horse riding, boat trips, surfing lessons, island tours, fly boarding etc A casino has now opened too. Vila Verde is a quiet resort with little entertainment but this suited us fine and the price of the apartment reflected this, the apartment was a bargain and would definitely recommend. Communication was always prompt and extremely helpful from Jeanette, can't thank you and your staff enough for a great experience.

Fabulous apartment

Wonderful apartment, but complex like a morgue. Nothing going on....supermarket a waste of time...no fresh meat, veg or fruit, and expensive. Restaurants had limited menus and again, were expensive. Snack bar had appalling service, slow & expensive for what they served. Waited over 1 hour one day for 2 burgers. Closed at 9pm, with kitchen closed at 8pm!! Free bus into Santa Maria useless, time wise. Only ran about every 3 hours, but Santa Maria had nothing to offer anyway. Annoying sellers who wanted you "to look in my shop" as soon as you got to the main street. Not many restaurants serving decent food...had about 3/4 decent meals in the whole fortnight we were there. Very disappointing. No atmosphere anywhere.

Lovely holiday apartment!

The apartment was just as the pics show. It was lovely and spacious and very clean. The beds were comfy too. Stuart showed us to the apt and is such a lovely guy to welcome us on holiday. It is a quiet unit and the sun comes onto the balcony in the late afternoons just in time for gin & tonics! The restaurants onsite were fine to eat and drink each night. We went into Santa Maria several times and the free shuttle bus is an excellent service. We would definitely stay at Jeanette's place again. Thank you so much to Jeanette, Stuart and Ildo our lovely taxi driver!

I am married, aged 54, with an adult daughter, son in law and beautiful granddaughter, and a professional career. My husband and I have travelled all over the World and when looking for a holiday home to buy, we wanted somewhere that we could get to quickly, without any down-time due to jet lag, and with reasonably price flights. We love Portugal but as with many European countries, it is not pleasant in winter - we wanted somewhere we could visit at any time of the year and not have to worry about the weather. Cape Verde is constantly around 25 degrees, has long, sunny days, beautiful sunsets, warm and friendly locals, and a really laid back attitude to life. We first visited Cape Verde some 12 years ago and did some island hopping. All the islands are very different, rather like the Canary Islands, but we were enchanted by Sal.

It's easy to get to, the climate is fantastic, the locals are friendly and welcoming, the food is amazing, the beaches are fantastic, the sea is warm, it's paradise!

The apartment is very well equipped and feels like a real home from home. Air conditioning is a blessing although there is usually a lovely breeze from the ocean and we enjoy sleeping with the window open instead. We travelled to Cape Verde many times whilst waiting for our apartment to be finished, and found that the standard of some of the local accommodation was very basic and left a lot to be desired.

Vila Verde has been built to the more exacting European standards and so not only are the finish and furnishings far superior to elsewhere, but there are lifts, sprinklers, fire alarms, safety rails where needed, etc.

The resort is ideally placed close to Santa Maria, but also in a peaceful location.
