'Trullo della Luna', charmig typiska hus med pool

'Trullo della Luna' is a farmhouse, the typical building house you can find in Valle d'Itria: it’s a classic four-cone rural trullo. Only the local peasants once used this type of building, now its shapes are appreciated by the entire world and are representative of this Italian region and its ancient culture. This area of Apulia is becoming a new-Chianti, a place where the nature fuses its beauty into the controlled, quiet human environment. I bought this trullo when it was completely abandoned. As I am an architect, I saw it as if its dry-stone blocks were the ruins of an ancient temple, and I have restored it with a great enthusiasm. My aim is to rent it for holiday stays and use it for my familiar purposes.

Let me point out the importance of this ancient rural architecture: I delighted to visit and study all the ancient ways of doing the trulli (trulli is the plural of trullo). I verified how all small constructive solutions are a concentration of popular wisdom.
The original cones are made without the use of any plaster and the craftsman who was committed to do this type of activity was always a specialized workman.
Nowadays there are only few specialists for doing all these details. I have funded the restoration of Trullo della Luna having clearly the aim to preserve all these aspects.


'Trullo della Luna' är en bondgård, det typiska hus som du kan hitta i Valle d'Itria: det är en klassisk fyrkegel landsbygd trullo. Endast de lokala bönderna använde en gång denna typ av byggnad, nu uppskattas dess former av hela världen och är representativa för denna italienska region och dess forntida kultur. Detta område i Apulien blir en ny Chianti, en plats där naturen sätter sin skönhet i den kontrollerade, tysta människan. Jag köpte denna trullo när den helt övergavs. När jag är arkitekt, såg jag det som om dess torrstenblock var ruinerna av ett gammalt tempel, och jag har restaurerat den med stor entusiasm. Mitt mål är att hyra det för semestervistelser och använda det för mina bekanta syften.

Låt mig påpeka vikten av denna gamla landsbygdsarkitektur: Jag är glad att besöka och studera alla antika sätt att göra trulli (trulli är trullo-flertalet). Jag verifierade hur alla små konstruktiva lösningar är en koncentration av populär visdom.
De ursprungliga konerna är gjorda utan användning av plåster och den hantverkare som åtagit sig att göra denna typ av verksamhet var alltid en specialiserad arbetare.
Numera finns det bara få specialister för att göra alla dessa detaljer. Jag har finansierat restaureringen av Trullo della Luna med tydligt målet att bevara alla dessa aspekter.
