Bradley Cross Farm, Shepherds Cottage

Högt uppe på Mendip Hills, ligger en stenstuga på en arbetsgård med fantastisk utsikt över Somerset Levels. Stugan byggdes omkring 1850 och var tidigare ockuperad av den lokala herden som betade sina får på detta område i Mendip Hills. Idag betes marken av de traditionella raserna Longhorn Cattle och Wiltshire Horn Sheep, väl lämpade för att hantera den naturliga gräsmarken på gården. Cheddar Gorge, platsen med särskilt vetenskapligt intresse, ligger norr om gården och Mascalls Wood, ett forntida skogsområde, ligger västerut. Cheddar byn och lokala butiker ligger cirka 1 mil från stugan. Perfekt för vandrare och nära Mendip Way.

Nice cottage

We had a lovely time in this cottage. It's cozy and has all the simple amenities one will need. The family that runs it is lovely and told us all about their farm and the surrounding land.

2 day family visit

This accommodation was perfect for my partner and I who needed to be in Cheddar with our dog for a couple of nights. The accommodation was as pictured, the shower was hot and powerful, the kitchen had 2 electric hob rings/microwave and fridge. All the required utensils for simple cooking, tea, coffee and sugar . Logs for the wood burner were also provided.

Brilliant views

A thoroughly enjoyable stay, in a great location. Eating breakfast looking out over Cheddar was wonderful. A nice small property, great hosts with good communication. Will be visiting again!

Has everything that needed for a stay over. The hosts are great, Paul's down to earth and likes a little banter, and Judy is very friendly. Excellent location for Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole!

Cosy, rustic cottage on the hills

Excellent secluded spot outside and overlooking Cheddar, out in wide open fields within a minute and up to the gorge in about 15. Rustic, cosy little house with all the essentials and a stocked wood burner. Friendly host and dogs! Also had a small milk in the fridged stocked when we arrived which was a nice touch. 2 single beds might not be up all couples' streets, but well worth it otherwise.

We had an amazing stay at Bradley Cross Farm. The owners was very lovely and very helpful and their 2 dogs are super friendly too. Highly recommend if you like a bit of an adventure but looking for a very quiet place to stay.

Exactly as described and exactly as other users have set out. Lovely little bolthole at the top of the lane on a farm with a view for days. Simple and effective. Worth going back for Paul andJudy alone, fab hosts. We will be back.

Paul was very easy to work with prior to trip and a delight in person. The converted barn has all the ingredients for a restful retreat nestled in a beautiful farm looking out over Cheddar and surrounds. We had a great time with hosts that got the balance right between friendly and helpful and leaving us to do our own thing. Would be back in a flash if Australia wasn’t so far away.

Perfect!

Fantastic helpful welcoming couple with a wealth of local information. Comfortable rustic cottage with incredible views ! I will definitely go back there in the future for more walking adventures in and around this beautiful area.

Outstanding view

A great little place for a short stay. Has everything you need. About a mile and a half from Cheddar Village. Great walks, though the walk back is very steep. Fantastic hosts and two gorgeous dogs. Really enjoyed our stay.

Exactly what we wanted

Thank you to Paul and Judy for making this a wonderful stay. The cottage is lovely and the views are breathtaking. So close to everything and yet far enough away for us to chill. Can't wait to go back.

Judy & Paul farm Traditional breeds of cattle and sheep on the Mendip Hills, an dedicated Area of Outstanding Beauty. We are a County Wildlife Site so protect the flora and fauna with our livestock management practices. Specifically we protect the natural habitat for Greater Horseshoe Bats, Barn Owls and Doormice. We grow our own vegetables, produce our own jams, chutneys, eggs and honey from our own bee hives. We also source organic wine from France.

Varför värden valde detta boende

Judy and Paul bought Bradley Cross Farm for it's position close to Cheddar and the idyllic views over the Somerset Levels. It was a place to further pursue our interests in Rare Breed cattle and sheep.

The property is secluded but at the same time within easy reach of the village of Cheddar
