Domaine de Badens är en vacker fastighet på 5 hektar som ligger i utkanten av byn Cenne Monestiés i det södra franska departementet Aude. Det ligger inbäddat i mogna ek- och tallskogar och gränsar till Lampy-floden. Vilda djur är rikligt och domänen är mycket privat, mycket lugn och helt till hyresgästerna. Gite ligger 100 meter från huvudbyggnaden på fastigheten, en gammal kvarn som byggdes 1885; de andra byggnaderna på plats väntar på restaurering och ändå inte bebodda. Giten är nyrenoverad på ett sätt som respekterar lokala traditioner men också garanterar komfort. Giten har två huvudsakliga sovrum, alla med eget badrum och en extra liten studie som kan fungera som ett enda sovrum eller kontor. Detta rum har vacker utsikt över Cenne Monestiés-dalen med avlägsna glimtar från Pyrenéerna och Pic de Bugarach. Ett fullt utrustat kök. En stor öppen planlösning matsal och sittgrupp med vedeldad spis. En barnstol kan tillhandahållas. Huset är i allmänhet barnvänligt men småbarnsföräldrar uppmuntras att vara vaksamma när de är ute. Hundar är välkomna under förutsättning att de inte trakasserar djurlivet eller förstör möbler och beslag. Hundar bör hindras från att jaga grannarnas katter, som också är tillfälliga besökare på fastigheten!

Remote and Quiet

Overall a nice stay, hosts are great. location is very remote and quiet. Please note that the villa is in the middle of the woods and you may be visited with small fury guests!!!! Pool is close to trees and its difficult to keep it clean all day, pool was cleaned very well every day but any breeze will give you a layer on the pool. Layout of the house was not the best for us but that's a personal taste thing. House could do with a visitor manual, with instructions for TV and washing machine, contact numbers that sort of thing, Its the first villa we have rented that didn't have that. We liked the fact that you are within 30 mins of lots of lovely places to see. A must if you are in the area is the Saturday market in Revel best we have ever been to.

Gorgeous place set in the most peaceful surroundings

I want to thank Tim & Hilde for the most glorious holiday. The gite was lovely and very clean. It had tons of space (inside & out) for our family (we are a family of 5 with older children) & is set in the most beautiful surroundings. We loved our evening bbq’s, sitting at the back of the house for long dinners in the warm evenings. The kitchen was a lot bigger than the photos and loved our breakfasts as a family in there. The pool was also godsend for keeping us cool & the children entertained for hours. The house & area was so relaxing and comfortable we hardly ventured out. But we did manage to: Visit Carcassonne (medieval walled city) Go to the market at Revel (a fab large buzzy market on a Saturday) and then off to Lac Saint Ferreol after where there is a swimming area and the opportunity to hire canoes, paddle boards etc Hike the Bugarach mountain (a must! Thanks Tim & Hilde for this tip) Visit Rennes-le-Château (after the hike as it is in the same area – another must & interesting tip from Tim & Hilde) The house is also very close to the Canal du Midi & a day trip to the Med is possible (sadly we ran out time to actually do this …. an excuse to come back).  There are also 2 supermarkets close by and a great bakery in Saissac (cute village with gorgeous views). We would not hesitate to rebook. It was honestly the best & most relaxing holiday in many years. If you want to recharge, be in tranquillity and spend quality time with your family, this is the place. It feels so unspoilt and special. Thank you again Tim & Hilde.

Ruhige Idylle

Wer sein Ruhe sucht, der findet sie hier. Ein wunderbares Häuschen mitten im Wald. Wie beschrieben alles vor Ort und gut erhalten. Die Kommunikation mit dem Vermieter war immer toll und sehr hilfsbereit. Wir benötigten einen Doktor wobei uns Tim immer half und sogar gefahren hat. Sehr zu empfehle .

Wunderbar einsam gelegenes Haus im Wald mit Pool

Das Haus ist sehr schön gelegen und individuell eingerichtet. Zwei Terassen direkt am Haus gehören dazu und eine weitere Terasse am Pool. Das große Grundstück ist tief im Wald versteckt und man ist weit, weit weg von der Welt. Über einen kleinen Wanderwerweg kann man die Talsperre von Cennr-Monestiés erreichen. Wer Ruhe und Natur sucht und nicht jeden Abend ins Restaurant/unter Leute möchte, ist hier gut aufgehoben. Eine kleine Besonderheit ist wichtig zu erwähnen: Die Badezimmer sind en-suite mit den Schlafzimmern und zwar OHNE Tür zwischen Schlafraum und Bad bzw. WC. Da ist lediglich eine 3/4 hohe Sichtschutzwand dazwischen. Es gibt auch kein anderes Bad/WC im Haus als die en-suite Bäder.

Repos et nature

Avant d'arriver au gîte on a l'impression de se perdre dans la forêt, mais cette 1ère impression passée on adore revenir dans cette nature préservée. Le gite, une bâtisse ancienne rénovée, est agréable à vivre et sans fausse note. Les propriétaires sont charmants. Ils sont à l'écoute et très réactifs. C'était un sejour très agréable.

Séjour août 2022

Très belle propriété au calme, avec une piscine plus qu'appréciable avec la chaleur des jours d'été. Les propriétaires sont discrets et à l'écoute si vous avez le moindre souci. La propriété reste tout de même éloignée des visites à réaliser dans le coin mais le charme de la maison et de l'endroit prennent le dessus. Merci à Hilde et Tim.

Séjour au calme

Cadre verdoyant et magnifique maison agréable, piscine au top. Propriétaire discret et à l écoute. La maison était chaude avec la canicule et ils nous ont fourni des ventilos. La maison est un peu isolé (commerces a 20 min) mais c est un petit éden. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié le lieu et la région.

Très bon séjour

Une jolie location idéale pour les amoureux de la nature, à l'orée d'un bois, à proximité d'un chemin de balade. Piscine agréable dont nous avons peu profité du fait d'une météo fraîche. Les propriétaires sont charmants et disponibles.

Prachtige locatie, weg van de wereld

Leuke en ontspannende plek. Zwembad is leuk maar riviertje en de dam gelegen op het domein waren voor ons zeker zo leuk ! Huis is sober ingericht maar comfortabel.

a perfect time in a remote, rural woodland spot

This place is perfect for someone, who likes places without other people around. Here you can find pure nature, privacy, remoteness and distance to the overaccelerated style of todays life. Nevertheless it is a good base to visit the kathar country with all it´s castles and other historic sites as well as to explore the black mountains and the Corbieres. For us it was always a good feeling to come back to this place after our excursions. The area around is perfect for cycling, too. The spot also is to recommend for families with children of every age. And it is worth to come back somewhen.

Nous avons passé un séjour très agréable dans ce cocon niché dans la verdure. Même sans clim, la maison est fraîche. Elle est parfaitement équipée. Seul bémol, l'absence de rideaux dans la chambre à l'étage. Merci à Hilde et à Tim pour leur accueil chaleureux!

Une formidable semaine de repos et de détente dans un cadre idyllique

Un joli petit bâtiment rénové avec beaucoup de goût, une piscine intégrée à un parc verdoyant très naturel, le chant des oiseaux qui vient parfois couvrir le son de la rivière en contre-bas... Voilà ce que nous avons trouvé au Domaine de Badens. La maison est très bien équipée, confortable et adaptée pour quatre personnes. Il n'y a pas de clôture et la foret vous invite à vous y balader, à descendre le cours de la rivière pour faire des barrages avec les enfants, explorer ses rives ou simplement y tremper les pieds... Plusieurs activités sont possibles à moins de 30min du village (kart, bateau sur le canal du midi ou randonnées à vélo sur ses berges, baignades au lac, villages pittoresques, Carcassonne un peu plus loin...) mais le calme et la sérénité qui se dégagent de ce lieu ne vous incitent vraiment pas à l'hyperactivité ! Nous sommes ravis de notre séjour !

Séjour très agréable

Propriétaires charmants, l’endroit est très sympathique mais très à l’écart des commerces et autres points d'intérêt de la région. Le calme est présent du coup. Le logis est agréable bien que les lits très petits, mais les propriétaires vont apparemment les changer. Nous avons passé un agréable séjour. Merci beaucoup.

Un endroit à découvrir et à redécouvrir!!

Magnifique propriété dans un lieu enchanteur! L’accueil des propriétaires était chaleureuse alors que les installations sont complètes, confortables et de bon goût. Je recommande cet endroit à tous ceux qui recherche un gîte paisible pour partager de bons moments.

Great house in beautiful, peaceful setting

This is the third year in a row we have returned to Badens, last year we brought my parents who they also loved it. The house is very comfortable with plenty of outside space for little ones to explore and for the adults to enjoy an evening BBQ. Bram is the closest town with plenty of amenities and good weekly market, lots of pretty villages to explore and Carcassonne within 30mins drive. Tim & Hilde were again friendly and accommodating. I’m sure we’ll be back!

A beautiful Location , peace and tranquility .

Very tranquil and pretty setting . A little bit more remote than we expected but this wasn't a problem . Stocked up at Revel market before arrival and then never moved from this lovely house for 3 days . We just completely chilled out completely , enjoyed the sun and made use of the lovely little pool to cool off when hot House was clean and had everything we needed , large fridge freezer was very useful as we like to shop at local markets and then cook for ourselves . Great to be able to dine alfresco , and because of the situation of the house and patio we could sit or lounge all day as the sun passed right around and then in the evening enjoy the sun as it rotated completely around us . We sat out til' 1 in the morning one particular night just sipping red wine and enjoying the owls hooting , the stars and the moonlight , sublime . A real " wind down " location . I f you enjoy your peace and tranquility then it doesn't get much better than this . Tim , Hild and Tiggy were usually about , but never at anytime intrusive , but always on hand for advice etc . They are currently working away on another project next door , which is a credit to there efforts and is going to be absolutely fantastic when completed . We knew from our holiday last year about the caveau in Bram , 10 mins away , which has lovely wine at a very affordable price . Then we discovered Les Cedres De Robert , in Villesiscle about 2o mins away , even better prices and some of the nicest wines we have ever tasted .The weather was mostly good , the first week was very hot , and the second week there were a couple of rainy mornings which then cleared up into lovely evenings . It did get a little chilly at night and we lit the wood burning stove which was extremely efficient . Very easy to find wood around the grounds , which are beautiful and which you must explore , make sure you walk the trail up to the old Dam . Perhaps not for party goers , this property , but definitely for families and couples who enjoy a little romance .

Une semaine de quiétude totale...

Une semaine de quiétude totale, en pleine nature. La maison, très confortable, est aménagée avec goût et offre des espaces de vie très variés au fil de la journée. Une terrasse abritée à l'arrière pour les barbecues, un solarium à proximité de la piscine, la possibilité d'une promenade le long de la rivière, au beau milieu des bois. Merci à Tim et Hilde pour ces quelques jours si paisibles. A très bientôt ! A.-S et J.

lovely!

It's was a wonderful time in a wonderful place.The magic is there in the morning, surrounded by songs of birds in the sun, all day nature offered me moments of happiness intence and the setting of the day through the branches is to melt with joy. When night falls, the sky and its thousands of stars is within reach. I slept in the tower in the midst of the summits of the trees, the gentle night sounds of the forest lulled me. A sublime place if you are listening to the surroundings ... A little paradise on earth.

Beautiful house, tranquil surroundings

We booked this beautiful house for a relaxing two week holiday in the lovely region of Languedoc-Roussillon, taking the Eurostar to Avignon then driving. This property looked great online and then exceeded our expectations, it's finished to a very high standard and you have all the space you could need both inside and out. I thoroughly enjoyed sunning myself on the patio then jumping into the pool to cool down, you then have a private patio at the rear of the house where we had several BBQ's in the evening. The wooded setting is idyllic, so peaceful, it's worth taking a walk around the back of the property to see the old dam. There's also plenty to do in the area, we went to the market in Mirepoix several times to stock up the kitchen cupboards and the butchers in Alzone is superb. We took day trips to Carcassonne and Mazamet as well as exploring the local towns and villages. I can highly recommend Maison Gayda for a delightful meal with stunning scenery, you may also want to visit their winery as well as Les Cedres de Robert not far from the house. Tim and Hilde were delightful and made us feel very welcome, booking the property was easy and we throughly enjoyed our holiday. The house is not only a great base to explore the area it's a pleasure stay in, shame we had leave!

We are biologists who live and work for the most part in Africa. We formerly worked in Congo (Brazzaville) but also have a foot in Kenya, where Hild (who is Belgian) works on a project to census elephants. Tim (who is British) researches whales and dolphins in two regions - central west Africa and the Northern Indian Ocean. We have a young son who revels in being outside and being very very dirty. We are animal fanatics and our house contains a riot of various beasts. We love peace and quiet, being in nature and sharing long meals with friends and neighbours.

Varför värden valde detta boende

Tim's parents have lived in Aude for over 20 years and investing in a house in the region ourselves was not too difficult. We love the area, its people and its many traditions. We are wildlife fanatics and the property is alive with native European animals (deer, boar, badgers, foxes, martens, bats, owls, hares, red squirrels and a slew of amazing birds, occasional peregrines included. The village of Cenne Monesties is unashamedly arty, something we greatly appreciate, and its inhabitants include writers, artists, painters, sculptors, dancers and acrobats. The region is alive with history, including wonderful castles with suitably gruesome and/or romantic pasts (great for kids), cultural events (theatre, music, arts festivals), traditional markets, lots of outdoor activities (walking, cycling, golf, kayaking, climbing etc).

Vad som gör detta boende unikt

We enjoy the peace and quiet - the property can feel a million miles from anywhere yet the village shop is a quick 5 minute drive or cycle down the hill. There are pleasant walks, an abundance of quiet corners, beautiful views and the ever present sound of nature being busy. At night you might hear owls or the occasional deer barking, but not much else. The river is true Swallows and Amazons, and adults and kids alike can revel in exploring its sunlit pools and many fishing spots. The region has many good gites, but we struggle to leave ours and always look forward to going back. Its a special place.
