Välkommen till The Retreat på Scaurodoon. Ett vackert nybyggt hus med två sovrum. Vi ligger i hjärtat av Burns Country i Ayr, vackert beläget vid mynningen av floden Doon, precis vid den berömda Ayr-stranden. Burns Cottage, Museum och den berömda Brig O'Doon ligger alla inom 20 minuters promenad. Det finns vackra floderpromenader och fantastiska strandpromenader på dörren och Ayr centrum ligger 5 minuters bilresa eller 30 minuters promenad från huset.

Det finns toppklass restauranger, kaféer pubar och butiker inom gångavstånd.

South Ayrshire är också golfland och det finns två utmärkta lokala banor inom en tio minuters promenad från huset och flera andra toppflygbanor inom en 20 minuters bilresa inklusive Prestwick Old Course, platsen för det första öppna golfmästerskapet någonsin och det brittiska Öppna kurser på Royal Troon och ikoniska Turnberry.

Längre bort från Glasgow ligger en timmes bilresa eller 40 minuters tågresa från Ayr Station. Edinburgh ligger cirka 90 minuters bilresa från Ayr. Det finns gott om alternativ för kollektivtrafik i närheten

Fastigheten i sig är vacker med alla faciliteter du behöver för din vistelse. Båda sovrummen har dubbelsängar i King Size, varav ett kan delas upp i två singlar vid behov. Det finns ett "Jack and Jill" badrum mellan de två sovrummen och ett annat duschrum nedervåningen.

Perfect property just as described

Lovely stay with a friendly welcome and great facilities, including a delicious breakfast that went down a treat! Everyone commented on how comfortable the beds were which is always a bonus when travelling. Thank you. We will be back x

Restful retreat yet just off the beachside walk and with good pub/restaurant at top of road. Ideal for visiting Rabbie Burns birthplace and the museum (both National Trust Scotland).

Great property and location

Convenient location - only a few minutes walk to the sea and about 15 minutes walk into Ayr along the seafront. Well appointed property and a welcoming host. Will definitely use again and would recommend to others.

Great Location

This property is in an ideal location for quiet sea front walks and close enough for all the amenities in Ayr. Culzean Castle is a short drive away and a great day out for all ages. Loved the Burns experience in Alloway. The property is modern and well equipped, beds are extremely comfortable. Great place to just relax.

The property was advertised as a 3 bedroom property however it is only a two bed. The property and the owner were fantastic and the location is great for long walks on the beach. We would definitively stay there again.

Very happy with our stay

Very happy with our stay at the retreat at Scaur o Doon. Communication with Gary was always very good, location was right next to the beach and ideal for what we were looking for. The small added extras of breakfast food, milk etc was a nice touch. The house was very modern looking and well kept, the only small gripe would be the living room could have been cleaner as it needed a good hoover once we arrived but apart from that we really enjoyed our stay! Thanks!

Great House in an Ideal Location

The house is a great base for exploring Ayrshire. Ayr beach is right on the doorstep, Alloway and Burn's country is just a short drive down the road and it's not too long a drive or train journey to get through to other town and cities. Gary was a great host and was onhand to help whenever required as he stays in an attached annex. The house was well equipped and had everything we needed. Would highly recommend this house to stay in.

When booking I wasn't aware that the owner would be living there too. Although it was described as separate annexe it is literally just a door between. No privacy to use the garden which isn't enclosed as he had the gate open to come and go. Couldn't use the driveway

Great location and lovely house

Well-equipped, very nicely presented and comfortable house in a fabulous location next to the river and beach. It’s a lovely quiet location and we enjoyed seeing a couple of deer trotting up the street, whilst we were there. Gary very kindly left us a large selection of breakfast items in the fridge, plus tea, coffee, milk, condiments etc, all of which were much appreciated on the morning after attending a wedding. We’d love to stay again in future for a weekend break and to bring our little dog who would love the proximity to the beach and the safe enclosed garden. Really clear and helpful communication with Gary in the run up to our booking and, although we didn’t cross paths on our stay, his son was ion hand in the adjoining house if we needed anything. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Eigentlich ein schönes Objekt und ruhig gelegen

Das Objekt hat offensichtliche Baumängel. Das Geschirr, der Herd und das Gefrierfach waren schmutzig, wir haben das Geschirr halt nochmal durch die Spülmaschine gejagt. Die Heizung ist plötzlich ausgefallen - somit auch nur kaltes Wasser. War dankenswerter Weise am Abreisetag. Die Gartenstühle hatten allesamt Mängel. Aber - der Vermieter hat uns Wurst - Milch und Toastbrot bereitgestellt, die Zimmer und die Bäder waren sauber. Wenn die Mängel beseitigt werden ist dieses Objekt sehr empfehlenswert.

A home away from home in beautiful South Ayrshire!

The perfect location for a trip home to visit family. The Retreat was the perfect base - clean, spacious and modern. Close to the beach and all amenities. The host, Gary, made us immensely welcome and went the extra mile to make our stay memorable! We will heartily recommend this property and definitely will be back in future.

Great holiday house with fantastic social space. Excellent cooking facilities

Fantastic weekend with wider family and we had the space to host all for dinner! A fantastic indoor outdoor space with a well equipped kitchen. Beds very comfortable and bathrooms well appointed and modern.

Excellent location and property

Cannot praise this property enough. When we arrived the second gedroom has a king size bed with two single quilts. I rang the manager who arrived with a new quilt and new bedding. Nothing was too much trouble. Beautiful house and perfect location for the beach. Highly recommend.

Booked this property for myself and my groomsmen the night before our wedding at brig o doon house hotel. The accommodation was perfect in every way , Gary replied to any queries almost instantly and cannot fault anything . Full breakfast and bottle of wine in the fridge on arrival was a lovely touch too. 10/10.

Ideal getaway. Very well appointed house. With our dog and grandchildren it was in a great position.

Gary was the ideal host, kept us well informed and provided a lovely welcome pack. He checked in personally to make sure we had everything we needed. A very positive experience.

Couldn't fault a thing!

Beautiful condo, it exceeded all our expectations. Stayed here with my husband and daughters aged 6 and 14. Plenty to keep us all entertained, the girls particularly like the local equestrian center and had 2 lessons/hacks. We enjoyed the local castles,parks and tree top adventure. The accommodation itself is stunning, like home from home, everything you need is provided. Even got left lovely breakfast goodies and prosseco in the fridge. Bonus of a dishwasher and washing machine to use. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone and would definitely stay again.

Fantastic stay!

My son, his partner and I were attending a wedding at Brig o’Doon last weekend , and only a short taxi ride from the property. We absolutely loved our stay , so lovely, and in such a nice location. Such a surprise to go in and find the fridge full of breakfast items and a nice bottle of wine! Also what a nice touch to have the Xmas tree up and it all looking very festive when we arrived. Thank you Gary for being so helpful and considerate and would highly recommend a stay at the “retreat” .

Great house with all modern comforts

Booked "the retreat " for our daughters wedding in alloway . Gary was amazing host and we loved staying here.... comfy beds ... great kitchen ... a lovely space for a family or 2 couples to spend time together . Loved the little touches... fresh cakes, bread ... butter and a breakfast stuff left in the fridge. The Christmas decs were even out when we arrived..... the lounge /diner looked amazing l. We will be back .... ! 😊

Amazing property, great location

The property was lovely, modern and bright. It’s in a great location, 5 minutes walk from the beach. It’s a good base for sightseeing, we visited Dumfries House and Calzean Castle which are only about a 20 minute drive away. Would totally recommend.
