I just read a review of Bayards Apartment from July last year. I wish I’d read it before I booked. Nothing has changed in ten months.
My heart sank on arrival, tatty front door which needs painting, a big weed and rubbish at front step, broken cover on key safe, front door left on the latch. I stepped inside to see a communal hall and stairway which clearly hadn’t been vacuumed. There were also two “gull proof” rubbish bags, the one for our apartment contained smelly unbagged rubbish. Surely these should be outside?
Upstairs on the first floor is Bayards Apartment, inside it looked ok, however on closer inspection I found I had to wash enough glasses, plates and cutlery for our needs, as they were a bit grubby. There was no welcome pack, wherever else we’ve stayed had one. We only used the kettle and toaster so I can’t comment on the cooker and washing machine - but why no dishwasher?
On the plus side the beds were comfy and the linen spotless. The double bed was small so I decided to sleep in one of the singles, that was comfortable and also had lovely linen.
The furniture is a bit outdated, in the style of “Teak G Plan” good quality though.
The location is good, on the level, one street back from the river, close to shops, pubs, restaurants and boat trips.
I contacted Dart Cottages twice during our three night stay, they said they were working on putting things right.
