Detta historiska hus i klass II är tänkt att vara det äldsta i byn från 1700-talet. Genom historien behåller det många av sina ursprungliga funktioner, charm och karaktär. Bucks Mills var hem för Prunella Scales under andra världskriget. Gamla bruket var byns gästhus vid denna tidpunkt och dess hyresvärdinna tros ha varit inspiration för Sybil Fawlty.
Bara ett stenkast från den avskilda sand- och singelstranden, ligger den i den lilla klipptopphammen av Bucks Mills, en av de vackraste byarna i North Devon, en avskild gömd pärla med vackra vita tvättade stugor fläckiga längs en trädbevuxen dal vid slutet på en genomgående väg. Detta underbara, rymliga fritidshus är en av de sista som gränsar till den branta klippbana som leder dig ner till den härliga stranden med utsikt över Lundy Island och Atlanten. Det finns gott om klippbassänger för att hålla unga och gamla underhållna eller ta ett fiske på havet.
Det finns gott för alla med fågelskådning, fiske, ridning, golf, surfing och segling i närheten. Kuststigen passerar stugan och leder dig till den berömda fiskebyn Clovelly och den orörda stranden vid Peppercombe, eller om du känner dig energisk, gå hela vägen till Westward Ho!
En bybutik och postkontor ligger en mil bort och i närheten av Bideford finns restauranger och stadsfaciliteter tillsammans med båtturer till Lundy Island, eller hyra en cykel och utforska den närliggande Tarka Trail. RHS Rosemoor Gardens, Docton Mill och Hartland Quay är väl värda ett besök tillsammans med många vackra fiskebyar för att utforska inklusive närliggande Instow och Appledore. För familjens kul är parken Big Sheep, The Ultimate Adventure och Milky Way Adventure ett måste. Stranden 200 meter. Handla 1 mil, pub och restaurang 2½ miles.

Perfect place to stay .. Our family loved the location and the cottage was spacious with rooms for all of us . Plus bathrooms and a shower room . We had a excellent family hoilday The beds and bathrooms were lovely The kitchen was fitted with what you needed Just lots of cobwebs and live stock that was a minus

We had a great few days with the family.

We had a great few days with the family. Ideal for walking the coastal path in both directions and easy access to other places by car. It was well equipped comfortable and clean. We had a great week at The Old Mill.

We had a great week at The Old Mill. The house is really lovely, very old, interesting and full of character. It was very clean when we arrived. The beds were very comfortable and there is plenty of space with 2 very comfortable sitting rooms. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped with 2 fridges (one large American style) a freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. There was also everything you could need to prepare food and cook ie excellent knives, more than enough pans and a fabulous range cooker. We had no issues with the wi fi. We managed to park outside the house to unload and always found a space in the lane near to the house. The main car park is not that far away and there was always lots of space in it. A more powerful shower is the only thing that we would have liked but that’s a minor issue and would not deter us from re-booking. The location is wonderful with the beach just a few minutes walk away. It’s a great beach to take kayaks out which we did. We did the walks to Clovelly and Peppercombe which we recommend and went to the beach at Westward Ho. We had a great time and would definitely recommend both the house and location. Thank you very much for this wonderful stay! It was one of the best cottages and location we have travelled to in Devon. Overall, we scored 8 only due to 2 points raised by some of the team. 1 being the water pressure of the shower. It was quite weak. It is probably due to it being a cottage and so it is understandable but perhaps there should be some consideration for this. The on-suite bathroom door is noisy which is problematic during the night when everyone is sleeping. The heating settings for scheduling was quite difficult to navigate and there was always someone in the house at all times and when we tried to put the heating / hot water on manual it was constantly turned off without notice. Meaning someone in the middle of a shower would experience the water turning cold. Apart from these points, everything else was great! the cottage is quaint but yet spacious. The kitchen is very comfortable for making food as it has all the equipment necessary. The internet is a little weak but this was warned about in advance and, if you travel to stay at this cottage in the first place, then no internet is even better for that ultimate relaxation and detox with nature. The location was one of the best features, waking up with the ocean laid out in front of you and only a 2-minute stroll down for a swim or to shower under the waterfall, was such a freeing experience! definitely recommend, especially for a group travelling together. The handbook provided with the cottage by the host is a really helpful guide to great recommendations for maximising the great opportunities around the area. Thanks again! We have just come back from a 7 night stay and can honestly say we've had a brilliant time.

We have just come back from a 7 night stay and can honestly say we've had a brilliant time. The cottage was very very clean. Everything you could want for. Kitchen well stocked with crockery, the beds, bed covers / pillows all very clean and comfortable. We all slept very well. There is a space to put kayaks (we had 4 of them) and plenty of other storage for wetsuits and life jackets. TV in the cosy lounge had Netflix which was enjoyed by the children and adults one evening. We fished and kayaked off the local beach, walked to Clovelly (a must to visit) one morning we did a run to Peppercombe beach (hilly but fun) we also explored lots of the local areas, Saunton Sands, Bude, Westward Ho! etc We even did a day tip to Adrenalin Quarry which was the children's favourite day, We did the Zip Line and Aqua Park. The Owner has been fantastic pre warned us that the scaffolding was due to come down the morning after we arrived and a plumber/electrician to fit a shower head and some new bulbs. Sent info via email day before our arrival. We cannot fault our stay, the property has recently had a make over, new carpets and painting has been done in some rooms which has all been done lovely. Parking is a 8 min walk to the car park (you get used to it, it's not so bad) can load for 30 mins outside though. The Cottage is very charming and great that we were able to take our dogs. 10/10 would stay area if going to the area. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Communications with the owner were excellent, especially as there had been ongoing problems with the internet. Bucks Mill is both beautiful and serene whilst being not too far from the larger towns of Bideford and Barnstaple.
