Long weekend away

It was so lovely and owners were so hospitable everything was clean and convenient One downfall and suggestion to have a ceiling fan or air conditioner being down stairs as was still really hot with only one air conditioner.There were also curtains missing upstairs and down making it also a lot hotter over the day and a struggle for the one air conditioner to cool down the whole place.Everything else was lovely the spa was relaxing bed was cumfy, outdoor setting was great! We loved it overall.Thank you for having us.

So good, had to come back for more!

Brilliant property with a fantastic vibe! My wife and I stayed at this wonderful house just 3 weeks earlier and decided to re book and do it all over again three weeks later because it was simply that amazing. Wonderful host, incredible spa, brilliant views and the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in. It was a dream and it was even better the second time around!

Fantastic place to stay in a beautiful area! House is gorgeous!

Peace & Quiet so close to the beach

Really cool and relaxed beach stay at St Andrew’s. nice and quiet with two balconies. A nice short stroll to the back beach (with hardly anyone there - sunsets are a must). There is a cafe roughly 60 seconds by car or 8 minute walk away. The villa was super clean, a little rustic yet so relaxing overlooking Arthur’s Seat and golfers trying to ply their trade. Christine communicated everything and a really enjoyable stay.

Lovely couples staycation.

Cozy cottage perfect for a couples getaway, bed was comfortable, washing machine vibrated the house we thought we in counted an earthquake!! Great short stroll to the beach would be amazing during summer. Overall a lovely staycation thanks for having us.

Ok

We stayed here for four nights. It was okay but the bed was a little uncomfortable. We had wet weather & as it is a small place I can imagine that the accommodation would be more enjoyable when the weather is good, as you could enjoy the big deck and lovely views. Also, I would have liked a proper stove rather than just a portable cooktop. Having said that, it didn't stop us cooking our bacon and eggs in the morning!

Fantastic perfect getaway!!

This villa is perfect for you and your partner, absolutely gorgeous decor inside and a cute forest like garden out the back. The views from the bed are incredible you could stay in bed just watching the sky all day. Perfect to walk to St Andrew’s beach and a short drive to shops, St andrew’s Brewery and Cape shanck! Overall i would highly recommend!!

Disappointing

We found the upstairs bedroom and bathroom very nice. Also the downstairs deck looked inviting if the weather was good enough to be outdoors. Inside, downstairs , however we found to be very outdated and not as clean as expected. The TV's are both quite old and the one in the bedroom didn't work at all. There is no WiFi ( my mistake not noticing that before booking) . The driveway as noted in other reviews is steep and the overhanging trees could be a problem for larger vehicles. In summary, it has the potential to be a beautiful place if more work was done to update it .

In a word… PERFECT!

What a gorgeous house! Everything you could possibly need! I didn’t hear more than two cars go past in the 5 days we were at the property, the beach is just down the road, the view in the mornings is just spectacular… and THE BATH! I highly recommend this property. Thank you Christine and Thomas for being great hosts.

Beautiful serene escape!

We had the best long weekend stay over the Easter break at Christine’s lovely villa! Perfect for two and has everything you need. The views were stunning and the place was better than advertised. Comfy bed, tv was a great addition the the bedroom for lazy nights in. Would definitely come back.

Pirongia Villa was delightful.

We would definitely book Pirongia Villa again. The house was incredibly clean, no dust or mould, neat and tidy with lovely tasteful decorations. The driveway is steep but manageable, once parked you are right outside the front door for easy access from house to car. The kitchen works well for preparing and cooking food. There are 2 bar fridges with freezer sections that held all our provisions easily. Between the BBQ, microwave and small electric oven/cooktop we had no issues cooking meals. There was all the pots, frypans, utensils etc provided. The upstairs and downstairs decking are fabulous, for sitting back and relaxing. Comfortable bed and huge bathroom. 2nd toilet downstairs if you need some privacy. The view over the golf course from upstairs is awesome, we could see Mars just above the horizon at first light. Close to the beach, hot springs and cape Schanck it is the perfect getaway.

Disappointing.

The reviews led us to expect an outstanding experience, but sadly this was not the case. There was no mention in the description of the steepness of the driveway - we left our car at the top, not wanting to reverse up a hill with a sharp bend in it! - only to find the same thing applied to the staircase, which was steep and narrow, difficult to carry cases up. The “equipped” kitchen had just a toaster oven and two hot plates to cook on, with a rather warm refrigerator. The washer and dryer worked fine on first use, but subsequently the washer did not empty. There was no privacy in the bathroom as the toilet was as “open plan” as the tub and shower, and, most inconvenient of all, the house had no WiFi. No complaints about the location or the views, and, in fairness, the owner has agreed to refund us a portion of the rent for the nights we didn’t stay. On re-reading the description on VRBO, it seems that all the glowing reviews were written in 2017 or earlier - perhaps the place hasn’t been updated since? Would not recommend.
