Dee and Bill have thought of everything. Decorated in fun and lively “beach cottage” fishing camp theme, Dee and Bill have made their rental user-friendly beyond your wildest imagination. Compact bathroom fully stocked with blow dryer, shampoos, conditioners, bath washes, soaps, large fluffy washcloths and towels, first aid kit, even sewing kit in medicine cabinet! Setting up and connecting my 17” HP Pavilion laptop Kindle Fire tablet to the WiFi was hassle-free. Dining table, 4 chairs, full-size cabinet w/literature, maps about area attractions. Very comfortable nap-worthy overstuffed chair, matching hassock and sleepable sofa, rollaway bed tucked in closet area. Tons of movie CDs, games for kids, magazines, etc. for a rainy day. Bedroom is large w/kingsize and single bed, luggage rack, closet with plenty of hangers. Window A/C but we only used it a couple of nights as the weather cooled down at night to perfect sleeping temperature. Early morning light sweater or longsleeve shirt cool mellowing to ideal T-shirt temps during the day, no humidity. Neighbors, residents as small-town friendly and eager to help as Dee and Bill are. Well-stocked country store w/ deli & hot/cold sandwiches block and a half walk away, next to yummy ice cream/tacos/pizza setup. Post office block and a half walk, along w/great small-town thrift store, 2 churches within eyesight. Alexandria Bay 7 miles away w/Artesian Shop of local crafts and artwork and eyepopping custom-made hand-painted fishing lures, 1000 Bait Shop quick drive toward Clayton, Antique Boat Museum in Clayton, must-see Tibbitts Point Lighthouse (postcards, unique gift items) past Cape Vincent where St. Lawrence and Lake Ontario meet. We enjoyed sitting on the lawn with early-morning coffee as residents drove by and waved, and again in the afternoon and early evening as we unwound from casual take-our-time sightseeing. Oh, Butter Field Lake is at the end of a short steep drive down past the house (either good exercise or exhausting depending on your physical condition) and is well worth grabbing your binoculars and going down to sit on the boulders for a bit and enjoy the view. If you are an author or an artist, this would be the perfect peaceful rental to inspire your creative muse or try your hand at plein air painting at Butter Field Lake or anywhere along the St. Lawrence River. On a scale of 1 to 5, my husband and I give Dee and Bill a solid 6.
